.....So, my fault that I didn't really realize that this is not a hotel at all, but a B & B. As part of a road trip, we were more accustomed to a larger bathroom and the room we were in was quite small. So, if you picture a bedroom in someone's house with a small bathroom then that is more of what is here (sink was in the bedroom area). Also, as a traveler we didn't realize that the whole town is under a BOIL WATER order and so only bottled water is to be used (which the Inn provides). Back home, I looked up this "boil water" situation to find that it has been in place off and on for several years. We probably would have looked for another location altogether. It IS convenient to the Fundy National Forest. The BEST thing about this stay was the seafood chowder at the…
This was my 4th stay here, and, as usual, the room was very comfortable and clean, and the hostess friendly and welcoming. I was disappointed though that they no longer provided a cooked breakfast, instead offering a selection of items for you to prepare for yourself. I would definitely recommend Captains Inn for anyone looking for lodging in Alma.
Owner and operator Terri Fenton is a gem. Hardworking and friendly, she is an amazing dynamo who keeps this modest B&B in top shape. We recommend Captain's Inn, actually in fact a remodeled ship captain's home, as a comfortable accommodation with easy access to beautiful Fundy National Park in New Brunswick.
I've stayed at the Captain's Inn on several prior trips to Fundy National Park and loved it, so I was curious to see if much had changed after the previous owners sold the property a few years ago. I'm pleased to say that it's still a great place to stay in Alma. It's somewhat different in some ways; it's not quite a traditional B&B serving a hot breakfast anymore but instead features a self-serve continental breakfast. Although I missed the wonderful meals from my prior trips the new system works for me too, and I liked being able to sleep in a bit without missing breakfast. I liked the new TV lounge with the ginormous flat-screen hi-def TV. The inn is a fantastic value and I don't think there are better accommodations for the price in Alma. Graham and Terri were…
It was late in the day & we were caught without a place to stay when we saw the Captain's Inn. The owner could not have been nicer, he was about to go home for the night but gave us a room with a view & then went home & brought us back dinner to cook on the grill as there were no food stores or restaurants open after 5! Wow! He also brought us breakfast of ham & eggs & bread! We used the kitchen & the grill. Thanks you. This was late April, basically off season.
