My husband and I booked last minute and were thrilled with the location and the room. We stayed in Katy's room and had a view of the water. We loved the outdoor seating on the deck facing the water with the propane firepit. The meals were second to none. It was quiet and very relaxing. Cannot wait to return.
My husband and I stayed here last night. We were in the very adorable Rose room with a beautiful view! We enjoyed the outdoor patio & firepit & met some new friends :) Breakfast was tasty with fresh homemade bread & an egg & cheese quiche. Thank you for a lovely stay, we’ll see you next summer!
We loved our 3 nights at the Compass Rose! We had requested a main floor room so we didn't have to climb stairs. We stayed in Sadie's Room in the main house. It was very conveniently located and had patio doors leading to our own private deck. The screened windows all opened to let in the cool evening breeze, and we could wake up to the beautiful view of the harbour. Delicious breakfast served between 8 and 9 was different each of the 3 days and featured fresh wild blueberries. Loved the dining area with the cute mismatched antique tables and chairs. The view is amazing and there are many outdoor seating areas to enjoy it.
I was in love with the island and everything about this place from the moment we walked in. Beautiful vintage room with SO much space and patio (Ebenezer suite), amazing waterfront views and friendly, quality service. The restaurant was great also. A gem I will be sure to book again!
We were hesitant to stay at any hotels or B&B's during the Covid pandemic, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights and felt absolutely safe. It was obvious that every possible step was being taken to protect guests. We stayed in Katie's room which had the most magnificent view of the water and had a private bath - while the water pressure in the room was sometimes very low to non-existent, we simply assumed that other guests were likely all using the showers at the same time, so we waited a bit and the water pressure returned, so if you're staying in this room, just be patient! This room had screened windows at the front and back so had a great cross breeze so we slept with beautiful ocean air. This room had a private bath which is a must for us in a B&B, it has a microwave, a small fridge and a coffee pot. It's not air conditioned, but the windows are all screened and you get a great breeze off the water, and a fan was in the room so we were always cool at night on the hottest days. There was a TV but the cable didn't seem to be working when we were there, which was no big deal for us. We wanted to do a kayak tour while on Grand Manan, and there was a fabulous place just a few doors down - we went out with High Adventure tours for a three hour excursion and it was the highlight of our trip. We can't recommend enough that you try this - even if you've never been in a kayak before. We had an amazing breakfast every morning (with the best French toast ever!)and French press coffee, and although the dining room was closed for dinner, Linda was offering a take out menu which we ordered from one evening and we enjoyed a great meal outdoors on their covered gazebo with a great view of the harbour. Our only recommendation is that if you're fussy about pillows, you might want to bring your own. We always take our own pillows no matter where we're staying - whether it's a five star Hilton or we're sleeping in our tent - so it's just a habit now and it assures us of a good night's sleep. The pillows here did look quite thin so we were glad we had our own, but the bed was comfortable and with that ocean breeze, we slept well. It's also a short drive from here up to the "whistle" where many locals go to watch the magnificent sunsets so it's easy to drive back to the B&B before dark so it's just one more reason this is a great spot to stay!…
