This was a good place to stop but it's located in the middle of a suburban neighborhood, so nothing to do or see close by. Breakfast was good but nothing special. Room was large and fully equipped. Innkeeper was friendly but nothing special.

Stayed two nights this time and wished it could have been a week. My job requires me to be on the road a fair bit. I would highly recommend this location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

We were surprised when we drove up that the B&B was in the middle of an ordinary suburban tract. But the house itself is very nice, and our rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable. There is a back porch with lounge chairs, a gazebo in the back lawn, and if you cross the back yard you are right at the pathway along the Humber River, which you can walk in either direction. Our host, Barbara, was very friendly and accommodating, and made us feel right at home. There are two comfortable living rooms and two breakfast rooms. Breakfast was plentiful, and Barbara's homemade jams were delicious. We would have preferred bacon or sausage with our eggs and toast, but I guess that fried bologna is a regional specialty. It was a lovely place to stay.

This is a very well appointed establishment with expensive furnishings in spacious rooms. The service is excellent and the breakfasts were imaginative and plentiful. There were two surprises however. Firstly, four of the finely appointed bedrooms are in the basement, and secondly the house is in a subdivision with neighbouring homes quite close. Because our room was in the basement we found the noise of footsteps and creaking of the floor overhead annoying.

Finally, we thought as we arrived at the luxurious mini-mansion that is the Humberview bed and breakfast, an establishment that looks as though it will have solid enough walls and floors to let us sleep undisturbed by the noise of other guests. And we were right -- such a shame therefore that the hosts were the ones keeping us awake here.

The Humberview looks and feels like a small luxury hotel. The rooms are large, immaculately clean and well-furnished. The service was friendly and when we asked whether we could borrow a bathroom scale to weigh our suitcases, one was provided right away. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious.

Our problems came at night, as they had done across the province in other bed and breakfasts. One of our bedrooms was below the office, where two employees chatted loudly, walked around with heavy feet and made phone calls until 1115 pm the first night. I complained gently the next morning and the noise in the office went down. Unfortunately, our other room was beneath the dining room, where someone was laying the table noisily well past 11 pm the second night. You often take chances with insulation levels when you book bed and breakfasts in Newfoundland but I would have thought that somewhere as upmarket as the Humberview would have focused more on basic matters such as not banging around at a time when paying guests want to sleep.

The Humberview B&B is a beautiful home with the most awesome hosts. Barbara and Craig made us feel at home as soon as we walked in the door. They are wonderful and warm to all their quests. They take a genuine interest in what our plans are for the day and make suggestions on what to do while visiting their beautiful piece of Canada.
The rooms are spotless, comfortable, bright and airy.
Barbara is a marvelous cook, who make the most awesome breakfasts, from quiches, to the yogurt and the applebake preserves are to die for. You won't leave the table hungry.
Take advantage of the gazebo in the backyard by the fire, best place to relax and enjoy Craig and Barbara's stories - along with other guests.
Barbara and Craig go above and beyond being the consummate hosts. We unfortunately got stuck at the airport for our return home and they picked us up at the airport to go back to their wonderful home so we weren't sitting at the airport all day.
Gros Morne National Park is about a 15 min drive away. There is a beautiful lake and beach two mins from the home if you just wanted some relaxing time.
We stayed at this awesome home for 4 nights and wouldn't hesitate to book with these lovely hosts again. I would highly recommend the Humberview to anyone who is visiting Deer Lake and the Gros Morne area of Newfoundland.

I was very surprised to drive into a suburb. The house was certainly a beautiful home of 6000 or more square feet. The entire house was lovely, rooms were fantastic. I found that the hostess of the establishment ran it so buisnesslike. Welcomed you and showed you your room but did not spend any time getting to know you or to talk to you about your trip. i am assuming that she is not a true Newfoundlander. Breakfast was nice. Imaculate establishment, but I would rather have had the newfoundland experience with the hostess. Bob and Anna MacDonald

By far the best accommodations in Deer Lake we've stayed at, while on a two week tour of Newfoundland. We booked a second night (Aug 8th) on our return drive home. Wished all B & B 's have this high level of standard as a requirement..clean, comfortable, modern, uncluttered, hot breakfast and more.
Highly recommend if need a place in this area and should reserve way in advance.
