We chose this Motel & Cabins because it allowed Pets, and didn't charge outrageous prices for them. Some places wanted $25+ a night per dog. I have three dogs, so this became costly when looking for somewhere to stay. Salvage Bay Motel and Cabins is not fancy or updated by any means. It is your basic motel. We found the cabins to be clean, but smelled a little old, or damp. The heated pool outside was nice, and we enjoyed a swim, but it closed early (about 7pm) and did not reopen until 11am the following day. I felt this was a little early to close, and late to open. People like to swim in the evening and morning too. The arcade was outdated with only one video game, but that was fine by me and it encouraged the kids to go to the playground and burn off energy. The food at Gertie's Gallery was decent. I was sold at the 'Pets Welcome' on the website.

Our decision to stay at Salvage Bay Motel was made by there website we had been looking at othe places in the area but the fact they had advertised that there was an outdoor heated swimming pool was what sealed the deal for us. Once we checked in we decided to go for a swim the pool was freezing cold when I inquired into the heater problem was told that it was broken, and to find out later that it has been broke for quite some time.

The website advertised that there was a fitness centre and as a person who enjoys a bit of a work out in the mornings I was looking forward to this. I went to look for the fitness centre and it was no longer there. I later found some of the equipment behind a curtain (in the so called arcade which was nothing to be desired) and had sold posted on a cpl purses of equipment.

Our units were clean but outdated. Don't think there has been much updating in recent years. Our last morning there it took us close on 2.5 hours to cook breakfast as out stove had only one working burner and an oven that worked when it wanted to.

Overall out experience was less to be desired as we booked on what was posted in the website UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE we used it a a tool to make our decision to come to your establishment and spend our money Bly to find out that nothing was ther that was advertised. I will not be recommending this place in the future to anyone.

Pros of staying here:
- Heated outdoor pool
- Activities for kids (mini golf, playground)
- Takeout on site

Cons from our trip:
- Cabin smelled very old
- Uncomfortable bed and furniture
- No microwave
- Toilet did not work
- Hot water was very intermittent
- Bathroom had a lot of water damage and smelled

Staying in the cabin made everyone feel very dirty and uncomfortable. We could not wait to leave. I would not recommend this place. The pool is what attracted us here, but it was not worth it.

We recommended Gerties place to friends of ours. We were going camping and they wanted a place nearby. We tried to visit them one evening and were rudely told by Gertie that we could not park there in our motor home and visit our friends. We had to park 5 km away at the beach and walk with three kids to visit our friends at their cabin. All this after we purchased take out from the restaurant on site. Our next visit at the end of the month will be elsewhere. All three families. What a ‘friendly staycation’

Salvage bay motel is laid out like a motel with many different motel like rooms. It comes with a kitchen. No microwave however. It has cable tv but only about 15 channels works. It's clean and comfortable. It has a heated swimming pool, fire pit and mini golf for kids and parents. It comes fully equipped with a restaurant which has many menu options. The turkey dinner and cheeseburger is the best :). It also has an on-site lounge, laundromat and ice cream shop. The restaurant is open to the public and take out options are available. Gertie is the owner and the staff are very friendly. I had an excellent stay.

first time at this motel, will not return again. The place was very dated, old smell upon entering the unit. There was no microwave in units for use, carpet smelled in the bedrooms the bedspreads had stains on them. The bed sheets were turned a yellow colour from long term use. No light bulb working in one of the bedrooms when we arrived, the bathroom baseboards had black stains from dampness in the unit. If you cancel the fee is the actual cost of the full night stay 125.00. The bathrooms shower head and tap was hanging out of the wall, there was no attachment that covered the holes in the walls, the fan was extremely loud. Please consider staying somewhere other then this place!

Gertie's Gallery in Salvage Bay Motel is the worst restraunt I have every been in. Everthing about this restraunt is a joke. There was a spill on the floor that the owner cleaned up. She didn't put up a sign on the wet spot and ended up slipping on the floor. If that was a customer she could be facing a lawsuit right now. Also she ruined a cheesburger and instead of offering a replacement , she went and wiped it cleaned. She came back and said it's all clean now and it would be a sin to waste it. Ugh. What a disgusting place. Never again
