...dark-brown tap-water, and dark-brown water in the toilet. But that was 1998. You guys had better upped your game, meanwhile! I was doing a road-trip around the island, fully packaged, on my Cannondale bicycle. The frame didn't survive the ordeal of the (then!) many gravel-roads, and was replaced under warranty...

Very pleased with the room and the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was good. The little ones really enjoyed the pool as well. We were really pleased with the surroundings unfortunately due to the weather the golf was cancelled. Next visit perhaps?

My sister got married last year in the summer so she booked this place to officiate her wedding ceremony and wedding party there. We had the groom’s family visiting Newfoundland from abroad for the first time, so she decided to go ahead and book a couple of villas plus some individual rooms for other guests as we were staying there for the weekend to avoid driving back and forth to the city. I’m giving this place a 1 star because it is the minimum I can give them for my review to be accepted by the system. Pros : Location is beautiful, the nature around it is breath taking It is convenient for weddings and other social events as everything is located on the same place Cons : 1. The booking system they use to RSVP guests malfunctions all the time, they never got the comments from our guests in terms of dietary restrictions or special accommodation requirements 2. Since the system malfunctions, we had to call several times to correct our bookings, to make them aware of dietary restrictions and other details that other wise would have been communicated easily to the event’s organizer/management of this place. The lady in charge of my sister’s event was very unresponsive and took several days before she provide us with a reply every time something was needed. 3. They never answer the phone, and never check the answer machine to return customers calls. We had many people coming from Europe, Asia and other parts of Canada and several mistakes were made in the bookings, including a missing bed for one of the groom’s bothers 4. Once we arrived at the hotel, we had to pick up garbage, clean garbage bins, clear fridges etc as no one bothered to prepare the rooms for the next guests. They were only focused on a Golf tournament they were hosting that weekend and didn’t even bother caring for other paying-guests 5. The hotel is falling apart, it looks unsanitary, it really needs maintenance. Please see some of the pictures I took, dirty and stained toilets, broken glasses, not even a courtain in the bathroom so anyone can see inside. The furniture in the villas is completely old and the cloth and leather it is made of is torn and falling, so you get pulls all over your clothes when you sit . 7. There is an extension number on the phone in each room indicating room service, however you dial that extension and whoever answers tells you they don’t offer room service and have never heard of it 8. The dinning room where the breakfast is served was a mess, food all over the floor, one of my sisters asked the staff to please clean the floor as people were stepping on food all over the floor, she got eyes rolled up at her and a very rude body language from the staff and they never bother to clean up the floor did not even pick up the food 6. Overall our experience was terrible, we made it work for my sister as she was getting married but I will never come back, or recommend this place to anyone, for sure not tourists who are willing to spend money in places like this without knowing what awaits them. This was a terrible representation of what Newfoundland has to offer. This business practices are detrimental for the province economy, which is already struggling!

I stayed here with my Dad and wife for one night. We stayed in a villa and it was clean and comfortable. The villa had facilities for cooking and the surrounding area was quiet and relaxing. My only complaint is that the food in the hotel restaurant was pricey as breakfast was not included with the room and there aren’t many options in the neighbourhood to buy food for cooking.

Stayed at the resort for a wedding in August. I’ve been to the resort many years ago, and looked forward to seeing the resort with improvements. The resort offers a 18 hole golf course with accommodations at the hotel and in nearby villas, cabins and a fully serviced trailer park. There’s a pool at the resort, restaurant and bar. They cater to families and groups as well as conferences, meetings and special events. Our room had not yet been renovated. It was clean but the carpets desperately needed to be replaced. We visited other rooms which had been renovated. Nice, but the same worn carpets unfortunately. The resort itself is okay, however the service was less than acceptable. The staff obviously lack service training, and cared very little about their professionalism. Owners should invest in professional development courses. Front desk staff were perhaps the most pleasant, and a lovely older gentleman. The restaurant and bar areas lacked atmosphere, were very busy and obviously understaffed. Overworked staff served the wedding guests into the night and then early in the morning for breakfast. It’s easy to see why they’d be impatient.
