We are a cozy family hostel within close walking distance to beautiful award winning coastal trails. Your hosts are Martha and Gavin, a young couple who have built a home in rural Newfoundland. We know that feeling of being in a hostel for two minutes and already feeling as though you'd been there your entire life. The Skerwink Hostel is a chill, familiar, and friendly place with lots of hang out areas and communal spaces.

Unfortunately some guests don't respect the privacy of others. Party goers retching below our window and in the bathroom in the middle of the night, and others setting off the smoke detector alarms at 4AM!! Not fun. As a hostel, the walls are paper thin, so sound travels right

I came into the place after a cold, windy, rainy drive only to find the dorm room really well heated. The dorm bed was of a very nice quality and very comfortable, and the layout was spacious; I felt like I could sleep there for a while. The interior of the house/hostel was

This was a perfect spot to stay in Port Rexton if you're not looking to spend tons of money. We decided to camp because we enjoy the tent life. They have some places to pitch your tent on the hill behind the hostel, and you can use all the hostel amenities as well (kitchen,

The place is beautiful and so close to the Skerwink trail. The staff were wonderful, friendly and even in the face of a challenge did absolutely everything to accommodate the guest staying there. People were friendly and just wonderful.

Is it pet friendly?
Hi, pets are allowed on the grounds of the hostel as long as they are leashed and under control. Pets are not allowed inside of the hostel unless they are a service animal with their vest on. If you are camping it is okay to have your pet sleep in the tent with you, or previously, owners have their pets sleep in the car. The Bonavista Peninsula is a great place to bring a dog, with lots of great hiking trails and wide open spaces. We ourselves have a dog and are open to help planning your trip. Thanks, Gavin Skerwink Hostel Owner and Operator

Hi there, Yes there are shuttle services from St Johns that come right to the hostel for $40-$45 pp. They leave every day between 12-2pm. Have a look at the hostel website for more info on how to get to us underneath the menu tab "Getting to Us". Cheers, Martha

"This was a house rental. The above ratings do not apply. The house was like a home and very comfortable with well equipped kitchen."
