The vistas were stunning. The hiking trails well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The restaurant was over the moon amazing to the point where we asked for recipes for the 5 star dishes we were devouring only to learn that much of the contents were home grown and locally developed. We can’t wait for their cookbook to be published so we can recreate such a delectable palate for ourselves. Fishers inn thought if ever possible need for their patrons from umbrellas at the doors, shoe horns in each room to walking sticks for our use on the hikes
Loved the well-appointed Ground Floor Oceanview Suite #5 that was in the building right beside the Lobby and the main dining room. The suite was spacious and nicely furnished. I specifically requested a ground floor suite so we didn't have to take all our luggage up to the 2nd or 3rd floor up the stairs. Unfortunately, after 2 beautiful days with warm weather and sunshine, Hurricane Larry brought strong wind and torrential rain on the 2nd night. As the window facing the ocean was leaking, we had to put towels on the window to soak the water. There was also a power outage but we brought an LED flashlight so it was handy. Fishers’ Loft also provided a flashlight in the TV cabinet. We had no water from 2-9 am on Sept 11 (the day we checked out) since there was no electricity to pump water from the water tank. Fishers’ Loft gave us a few bottled water for washing and brushing our teeth so it was a nice touch. The restaurant offered superb dinner and breakfast. I would highly recommend both the lodging and the restaurant, though the accommodation rate was the highest of our 15-night Newfoundland trip. Nonetheless, the well-appointed furnishing of the suite, the hotel’s location with its close proximity to Skerwink Trail and the amazing food from the restaurant all made it worthwhile to stay there.…
We stayed at the Fishers Loft Inn for 2 nights. Our room (#16) had a bedroom and living room with a foldout bed and a spacious bathroom, equipped with robes and Octaine bath products. The room had a stunning view of the gardens and bay. The dining room was lovely with every table set beside a window. We had two breakfast and one 4 course dinner at the inn. All meals were delicious highlighting local, fresh ingredients. The lodge is in an excellent location, less than 5 minutes by car from the famous and spectacular Skerwink trail and 10 minutes from historic Trinity. We would highly recommend this charming inn if staying in the Port Rexton or Trinity area.
A lovely spot up on the hill with lots of hotel grounds to explore. The view is amazing especially in the night time or watching sunset. The room is well kept full of NL traditions. Very close proximity to the amazing Skerwink Hiking Trails. Staff were friendly and great care to provide Covid safety checks for patrons. Highly recommeneded. Its dining room service is amazing too. Please check my separate review. Great for wedding parties for sure.
This is an amazing facility in a small community of Port Rexton- it’s in the heart of the Bonavista area, Rooms are well appointed and so very quiet We stay in am ocean view treetop and enjoyed the rooms immensely! Breakfast is priced a bit high, however do try to take in their dinner meal- preset menu done very very well. We will return here for another relaxing vacation
Spent a weekend here with my partner and parents. My partner and I were in Suite #21 and my parents stayed in Suite #16. Both rooms were fantastic! We loved the way they were decorated and everything was meticulously clean. It was so cozy and inviting. The down duvets on the beds are very comfortable and led to a great sleep. The L'occitane products in the rooms are fantastic quality and smell great. The location is quiet and relaxing and the views are unbeatable. We had four meals in the restaurant and everything was delicious. We have no complaints and we are planning on returning in the near future!
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The hikes and the views are spectacular. At the inn, there is such good service, and so much attention to detail. Jumping bean coffee in the room and a bathroom that’s more of a dressing room. Of course we loved the cod and the meals we were served. They even had almond milk for my granola in the morning! We were two couples travelling together. We hiked the Skerwink and Fox Island trails, visited Elliston and Bonavista, and the Port Rexton brewery. Good times!
I highly recommend staying at this hotel while you are exploring the Bonavista area. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, the staff is friendly and the location, ideal for scenery and hiking. A delicious breakfast is included in a very picturesque dining room.
I have been to the Fishers' Loft many times, so when a group of gals was planning a hiking trip to Newfoundland, I knowingly convinced them to visit this lovely inn. It did not disappoint! I have always stayed in one of the houses, yet this time, so that we could have rooms in the same building, we stayed in the Conference Centre. I was thrilled with my beautiful room overlooking Port Rexton's harbour. We loved having the comfortable and elegant main floor living room to ourselves for games and a glass of wine before dinner. The path down to the main house for meals was not a problem. I had warned the girls to leave their heels at home. The Skerwink Trail is still one of my favourite hikes, anywhere! The loop hike from the inn is 7 km, with stunning views. Try walking it in different directions for completely different experiences. We visited the John Crosbie Sealers Interpretation Centre in Elliston- an interesting lesson in the history of sealing in the province. We missed the puffins by a week, as they had gone to sea, when we stopped by the puffin island in Elliston. We hiked around the Light House in Bonavista and walked around Trinity. By the third week in September, many shops and restaurants had closed for the season or had limited hours. We didn't mind the quieter time of the year as we were there to hike and the weather cooperated. Every bite at the Fishers's Loft is delicious. Everything is fresh and homemade. We ate there all three nights because we did not want to drive into town and there is not a taxi service in the area. Each dinner was different and wonderful. The fresh cod was our group favourite. We couldn't believe how much we ate for breakfast, unable to resist the homemade scones and muffins. I love this place and cannot wait to return again! My four friends all plan to return with their husbands in the near future, wanting to share this special place.…
My husband and I decided to visit Newfoundland after seeing Come From Away. Our travel agent recommended we book through Maxxim Vacations and we are thrilled that we did! The Inn itself has a quaint look and feel but it is first class accommodation and has everything you need. I highly recommend booking dinner at the gorgeous dining room adjacent to Trinity Bay. The view is fabulous and our table d'hôte meal was 5 star chef quality. Check out the gift shop for a genuine Newfoundland memento (not made in China).
