If you are in Rocky Harbor you should definitely check out this B and B. We were greeted at the door by our hosts, Diane and Peter. They gave us fabulous recommendations for walking and hiking trails. As well as places to eat and sights to see in the area. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. They made us fabulous breakfasts every morning and we had great choices. Our rooms were spacious and meticulously kept. Beds were super comfortable. I can't say enough good about this place and we left feeling like we had made two great friends. We really felt like we were home at this B and B. Thanks once again to Diane and Pete for the phenomenal stay. We will be back!
This review is WAY over-due so my apologies to all. My husband and I travelled to Newfoundland last July -August and had a wonderful time exploring the sights and sounds of Newfoundland Labrador. Our trip was made even more memorable by our stay at Candlelight B & B in Rocky Harbour. Diane & Pete are terrific hosts and go out of their way to make their guests feel like family. We were greeted at the front door by Diane's huge smile and Pete was waiting for us in the kitchen - maps and area information in hand! This B & B is a well-oiled machine. From our first email confirmation to the final "so long", Diane and Pete are very personable and take pride in providing the ultimate B & B experience. We enjoyed a delicious, hot breakfast every morning (you make your breakfast choices the day before using a sign-up sheet left in the kitchen) and I think there were treats in the kitchen to satisfy your evening cravings. The property was an old church which they lovingly renovated. It is beautifully decorated with unique, local art pieces. Our room was very roomy, clean, well appointed and the bathroom was huge!!! We had a great view of Rocky Harbour from our second story window. During our 3 night stay, we had a great night's sleep and never heard the comings and goings of any of the other guests coming. Both Pete and Diane were so helpful with information about local sights, restaurant recommendations and were especially excited for us after we hiked up Gros Morne Mountain during our stay there. If we're ever lucky enough to return to Gros Morne National Park, we'll certainly stay at the Candlelight B & B! We highly recommend you rest your head here - you'll have the most memorable stay!…
We stayed 6 nights at this wonderful B&B for some well-deserved rest and relaxation as we explored Gros Morne National Park. It is housed in an old church and the common area with its “cathedral” ceiling is unique and inviting. Our room on the second story was very comfortable. We arrived quite late but checking in was no problem. What a surprise to wake up to the view of the harbour from our window and a local cemetery! The hosts Diane and Peter prepare a delicious hot breakfast with lots of choice. They were so helpful with restaurant suggestions as well as hiking trails. Gros Morne is a beautiful park and the hike up the mountain was exhilarating, despite the fog that rolled in as we got to the top! We will have to return and know exactly where we will stay. Thanks again Diane and Peter!…
I don't think I can say enough good things about this place, but I'll try, so this may get a bit long. This was quite possibly the best B&B experience I've ever had! First of all, Diane and Peter were wonderfully welcoming and helpful hosts. We arrived mid-afternoon after driving for hours and were anxious to get out and do some hiking but were afraid we wouldn't have time before dark. They quickly pulled out maps and showed us the best hikes that were close enough that we'd have time to fit them in. They even let us know about restaurants where we could get dinner, since we were there in the off season when a lot of places were closed. Our room was very large with plenty of room to put suitcases without tripping over them. The bed was very comfortable. Both the bedroom and en suite bathroom were amazingly clean and modern. The shower even had the option of using an overhead rain shower, something I don't think I've ever seen in a B&B. For breakfast, there were a lot of options, including delicious homemade Greek yogurt with granola (which I had both days), eggs & bacon if you wanted something more hardy, or huge fluffy pancakes for your sweet tooth. My husband had the options that I didn't and was very happy with them. One of my favorite things, being the coffee fiend that I am, is that the kitchen had a Keurig (with reusable cups, so I didn't even have to feel guilty about using it) that we had access to at any time, along with cream and sweetener. Also in the kitchen was a cabinet full of DVDs for the DVD player in our room so we could watch a movie in the evening before bed. My ONLY regret about our stay is that we couldn't stay longer! Two nights was much too short!…
Our trip to Gros Morne was made all the more memorable thanks to the kindness and generosity of our hosts Diane and Peter at the Candlelight B&B in Rocky Harbour. They could not have been more helpful and welcoming! Thank you!
