Augustus Jane is a smaller motel I believe with only 8 rooms, each room is equipped with its own bathroom, mini fridge and coffee maker. Our two queen bed room was very spacious and had a dining room table, big screen tv and ample room for suitcases. I slept perfectly both nights. The owners are very friendly and accommodating we had such a great and memorable three day stay. This is the cleanest hotel I ever stayed at! Because of Covid they are currently offering a served continental breakfast including homemade breads. They get a 5/5 from us for sure! Thank you Otto!

Our family of four (two small children) stayed at the Augustus Jane Inn for two nights while exploring the area. We stayed in room #4 that had two queen beds, nice bathroom, mini fridge, coffee maker and even a table and chairs. The room was big compared to regular hotel rooms (close to twice as big for sure) and we had lots of space. The owners/staff couldn’t have done more to make sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. The continental breakfast was great and even had homemade waffles with local berry toppings! We would be sure to book here again the next time we take in that area of the province and would recommend this place to our family and friends.

Our three night stay was perfect for a host of reasons, including the personalized hospitality of owners Otto and Barb, and Marion- hostess extraordinaire. We saw that all guests were treated as old friends or family and their goal was to ensure that your visit to Gros Morne was a great one. Tips and suggestions when you wanted them and anything that you needed to make your stay very comfortable was offered from checkin onward.

Rooms are spacious and well designed for travellers with lots of places to place bags and various items. In fact, Otto designed the building himself and you can tell that it was thoughtfully done. Windows open to let in the fresh air, rooms are spotless, bedding and linens are fresh and carefully presented.

Location is excellent, walkable to restaurants and shops. Continental breakfast (plus the famous waffles mentioned in other reviews) was so nice and very consistent. Lots of conversation and a warmth that you can appreciate, only in Newfoundland! Thank you Otto, Barb, and Marion for everything- we'll be back one day!!

The Augustus Jane Inn is short 2 minute walk from the Harbour, and some rooms have a partial view. We very much enjoyed and highly recommend. We booked 5 rooms the first time staying, and 4 the second, and cannot find any fault. The owners and staff, Barb, Otto and Marion, are wonderfully warm and very hospitable. Firstly, the hotel is spotless… like to an extreme… you will not find a pick of dust anywhere… it is perfect! The rooms are spacious and if I guessed, brand new! All gather at breakfast with fresh baked bread, fresh fruit homemade jam and waffles. All very inviting and a great spot to use as your base for Western Brook Pond, Cow Head, Norris Point and Woody Point. You will not be disappointed. Hope you can get in! It only opened in 2018 and now return guests are their main clientele.

We stayed at the Augustus Jane Inn (named after the owner’s dad and mom) for three nights in June. As a first time visitor to Nfld, I think we absolutely lucked into finding the best place to stay. First, the owner, Otto, is so warm and welcoming. He is also generous with his advice on trails to hike, places to eat, and entertainment to see. He truly set up a great agenda for our three days in the area. Marion, the welcoming committee and housekeeper extraordinaire, was equally friendly, and it must be said made an excellent breakfast waffle! Breakfast is included in the stay, and although it’s listed as a continental breakfast, I think it’s much more than that. Oatmeal, boiled eggs, home baked bread, banana loaf, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice…it was all on offer. As well as Marion’s waffles!
The rooms are lovely. They are a generous size, with comfortable beds and pillows, fluffy towels in the bathroom, a coffeemaker and fridge. Everything is spotlessly clean and the decor is lovely.
The inn has an inviting front porch where we sat one evening enjoying a glass of wine.
The location is absolutely perfect. Within the village of Rocky Harbour, there are lots of options for eating out (I strongly recommend trying Java Jacks), and some good places to shop (Gros Morne Crafts…lovely owners and genuine items for sale…The Glass Station). The inn, and Rocky Harbour, is central to many trails, including the challenging Gros Morne Mountain Trail, and a short drive to the must-do Western Brook Pond tour.
When I return to this beautiful part of Canada, I will most definitely stay at the Augustus Jane Inn again. Otto and Marion have made me feel like part of a family.

The place was exceptional, clean and excellent in all ways. Otto has put his heart and sound into this place and it shows. Marian looks after everything from a hearty continental breakfast including items likes fresh hard boiled eggs, porridge , and fresh made waffles with berries. Rooms provide a unique NL experience, worth a stop in Rocky Harbour

This award-winning inn ticks all the boxes: great location, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, good showers, all maintained to a high standard and kept spotlessly clean. Well travelled themselves, the hosts are congenial and helpful without that overfamiliarity you find in some small hotels. Includes breakfast- waffles, hot and cold cereals, fruit, and lots of homemade jams for the freshly baked bread. If you’re lucky enough to get a reservation you should jump on it.

One of my favourite places I stayed in Newfoundland. The location is excellent, as it's walkable to shops and restaurants around town. The hosts were outstanding, and included homemade items at breakfast, like banana bread and fresh bread.
I stayed in the cabin, which is separate from the main building and right on the water, which came with a kitchen, BBQ, and chairs for the deck to watch sunset. Absolutely would recommend to anyone.

This place is amazing!

Spotless! I don't think I have ever stayed in such an immaculate place.

Otto (owner) was extremely kind and informative from our initial conversation in April, booking to making breakfast the morning we departed.

He gave us so much great advice about the area. Knowing we had 1 day to spend in the Rocky Harbour area, we didn't have any time to waste.

Would highly recommend this hotel, should you find yourself in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland.

We stayed in Augustus Jane Inn for 2 nights. It's a beautiful place, room is so big, nice and clean. We booked a few months ago, Otto is so friendly and provided us a lot of tourist information about the boat tour and hiking info. Banana bread is so yummy!
It is located right on the beach, every morning, i enjoyed my coffee, smelling the freshness of the sea. Wonderful place to stay! Recommended to all of my friends!
