We only visited the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel! See if you can sit on the second floor area for a great view of Rocky Harbour. Be sure to order the Fish & Chips and then marvel as you wonder (aloud) if they caught it this morning or just before you arrived. It is cooked well, lightly battered, served with coleslaw (if I remember correctly). You will think the 1 piece is enough and you're right but you'll regret not getting 2 pieces!!
This was a brilliant stay in Rocky Harbour! Very clean and comfortable room, very spacious and lovely individually wrapped toiletries provided! In the evening we went to the Newfie Kitchen Party for evening entertainment and it was fantastic with lots of dancing, opportunity for stand up comedy and audience to take a turn singing themselves if desired and Newfoundland songs with the ugly stick! The staff were very kind which made for a welcoming visit. Would of course highly recommend.
Very nice hotel, with a good restaurant and a pub that seems very lively. The rooms are fairly spacious, the beds comfortable and the place is clean. Lovely view out to the bay. The amenities are good. We were screeched in there, and had a lot of fun with their ceremony for it. The screech was even good! The hotel is well located right in the middle of the town, so it’s easy to get to everything. There is a 24-hour laundromat close to the hotel, if you need to do some laundry. All in all, definitely the place I would stay were I there again.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was modern, spatious and comfortable. We got a good sleep each night and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and admiring the ocean view. There was a bit of a heat wave while we were there but the air conditioning kept our room comfortable.
We stayed for 2 nights on our way to St Anthony's and one night on the way back we were very pleased with our rooms both times - we were in the annex. they were modern, clean, service was very good had entertainment in the lounge every night. I think every room has a ocean view not particularly scenic but this was the end of our 14 day trip and had been spoiled. I will review the restaueant separately (my advice wait for a table and eat across the road)
The hotel room and the view were quite nice Front desk service was terrible. Everything was an imposition. I often ask myself why someone like that would want to have a client facing position. The food at dinner in the restaurant was good, but the service was slow. We thought that there was a shift change and no one was serving. Finally our waitress appeared. The location was perfect if you wanted to attempt the hike to the top of Gross Morne Mountain
Centrally located and has the Anchor's Away show. Do not miss it, best show in Newfoundland. Clean spacious rooms. Good dinning room but make reservations early. Food was OK, but not great. Great bar with nightly entertainment and bar food. Fairly priced.
Absolute no problems, was a great visit, and clean This is the second time we visited this hotel, and from June 26-27. It was truly amazing Met lots of nice new people,I never heard of anyone getting sick,or even coughing Our table was wiped 3 x during our stay with perfect strangers
This was the end to our amazing stay in Newfoundland. I don't know what is wrong with this side of the province but the people are not your typical friendly Newfoundlanders. From the moment we walked into the hotel I could sense something was off. The grumps at the front desk (and this is a kind word) were not very nice. We checked in to our room and I noticed a red stain on the bathtub. I actually tried to clean it but it wouldn't come off. The next day, I noticed there was a huge stain around the toilet. I went down and the grump basically yelled at me and said why didn't I mention in yesterday? We had checked in and went straight to the Anchors Away show (It was amazing but we were the only 2 people wearing masks and we were told one of the waitresses called in sick because of covid) She offered to switch rooms but it was late and were exhausted. After going back upstairs I noticed a huge bug in the bathroom. I just wanted to know what it was so back down I went and Grumpy was sprawled out on the couch. I showed it to her and then she said that picture wasn't their hotel. Yup just what I want to do on holiday. Fake a pic of a bug in a gross bathroom. So she just accused me of lying. She offered us to change rooms but we thought they must be all the same and again it was late. She gave us a free breakfast (woo hoooo) how about a free room??? We did agree to change rooms the next day but after thinking about it, we decided to check out. Oh and the best part???? Our apple watch charger was left in the usb charger and guess what was gone when we got back from our day. Yup. Our usb charger is missing and now we must replace. I will be calling the hotel to reimburse me. I was told lots of their toilets are leaking too. I will say the staff at breakfast were really nice and the breakfast was good. I have never left such a terrible review for a place. They say they are redoing these rooms soon but even if they do until they get rid of their absolutely terrible staff it won't matter.…
A few of us who have now recently attended an Anchors Aweigh performance (each a week apart) have developed Covid. Patrons are packed into the venue where eating and drinking are taking place and everyone is encouraged to sing along. Under normal circumstances that would be fun. But for those of us who contracted Covid in that environment, not so much. It was a great show, but not worth it as we had to cut a full week out of our stay and drive like a bat outta hell to get ourselves back home.
