Words can’t describe the true beauty of this both historic and modern gem of a Inn however we will try to give both Carol and Patrick (the owner/operators) the true appreciation they immensely deserve!

Starting our adventure Saturday morning we realized we had forgotten to pre-order our meals for that evening( the site started they require 24 hours to prepare the delish home cooked recipes) we called immediately and they accommodated our dinner reservation and advised that the room was ready and we could check in early.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Carol in the small cozy pub situated at the entrance of Inn. While checking in we enjoyed the smell Of fresh baked pastries left for guests on arrival.

Carol escorted us to our room, showing us the the features of the extremely clean and decorated cozy rooms. The Limerick room has a fireplace, jacuzzi, and jumbo king bed with canopy (Mattress like sleeping in heaven). She assured us she was available for any needs, and headed back to the kitchen to continue her supper preparation for the evening. We settled in, relaxed, and enjoyed the scenic view of beautiful St. Mary’s!

Dinner was timed perfectly for 6:30 pm and we were delighted this couple had actually changed the menu to accommodate our request for Turnip soup as an appetizer! Honestly they should start canning and selling this rare recipe - it’s a must try! Again Carol and Patrick went above and beyond to make our evening perfect!

We enjoyed the delicately designed dining room, sipped wine, chatted with out of province guests from Ottawa while waiting for our main meal.

The main course we choose was Yellow Belly Steak And Mushroom Pie. It was perfectly presented and a special recipe created by Patrick himself! It was mouth watering and our definition of perfection!

The dessert- home made pumpkin pie prepared by Carol was Devine! This couple sure knows how to deliver a 5+ star meal! With tea and coffee we savoured the flavour of pumpkin pie (a first try for us )!

To finish the night we played the 100+ year old organ. (Videos to be posted with this review if possible) It was simply the most relaxing evening with the guests and Carol and Patrick.

Breakfast was the perfect ending to our staycation! Frittatas topped with Carols mother’s homemade ketchup recipe and toast smothered in home made jams, yougert granola and local fresh partridge berries! You really have to experience this for yourself.

Words can’t describe our one day adventure and we can’t rate this as a just a 5, for us this was a once in a lifetime evening.

Thank-you Carol and Patrick for your hospitality! You made our evening truly amazing.

Have a great winter with your family

We will see you next year!

My wife made a 1-night stop at The Claddagh Inn during our Irish Loop trip and on our way to the Bonavista Peninsula.
What was actually supposed to be a pragmatic stop half way between to destinations for longer stops turned out to be a distinct positive memory of our Newfoundland trip.
Patrick and Carol run a very welcoming, friendly inn that not only offers a nice room to sleep but a great overall experience with a dinner option (fantastic cod prepared by Patrick), a little "pub" to have some drinks and a chat after dinner with the other guests and the host (great way to get to know the other travelers) and great breakfast.
Be aware that dinner needs to be booked and selected at least 24h in advance - which is fair, considering that it is only for a couple of people and the booking allows for appropriate planning and preparation (and you get the info when you book plus a timely reminder before you arrive - so no problem. Would highly recommend to have the dinner here if possible).
Room was good - nice, clean, practical, clean (we had the Wexford) - but the reason to come and sty here is the overall hospitality and friendly atmosphere.
Would stay at The Claddagh Inn again if we have the chance.

We stayed one night while travelling the Irish Loop. We booked the night before and were upgraded at no charge to a bigger room. Carol and Patrick are great hosts and made our stay very enjoyable. The house is a converted convent and the interior is amazing. The view of the water is spectacular. There is even a mini Irish Pub with seating made of the old pews. I highly recommend pre-ordering the dinner. The entrees are delicious. The breakfast is very unique and very substantial. This is the best B & B we have ever stayed at.

Carol and Patrick are such great hosts. We were booked to stay in one of the double rooms, when we arrived they upgraded us to a superb huge "honeymoon suite" - the room and surroundings are clean and nice attention to details (there was a hair conditioner!!!) - there is not much to add to all the below fantastic reviews - only one suggestion - go and experience the place for yourself. We had a dinner in the evening, absolutely superb - they also have a fantastic choice of good Canadian wines. There is lovely Irish bar for pre or after drinks, we loved it. Carol also helped us with suggestions for next day's itinery, which was spot on. We will definitely stay here again.

We loved our overnight stay at the Claddagh Inn. From the Irish pub to the lovely dining and sitting room. Patrick and Carol were very welcoming as well as Diane, the lovely server in the dining room. The dinner and hearty breakfast were delicious while the guest rooms were clean and cozy and comfortable. The grounds immaculate and loved sitting on the deck overlooking the water while sipping a glass of wine. I would highly recommend the Claddagh!!!

The Claddagh Inn, once the Saint Ann's Presentation convent, was transformed into a quaint traditional Irish style Inn by local craftsmen. Completely refreshed by its new owners in 2011 and 2012, it More boasts 6 private en-suite rooms. There's a spacious honeymoon suite with majestic king-size canopy bed and spa bath and also a double room available for family travellers. "Padraig's Folly" is a cozy guest pub or "snug" featuring a fine selection of whiskeys, a local craft beer on tap, and other refreshments for guests to enjoy during dinner, in the pub, or while enjoying the view of peaceful St. Mary's Bay from the deck. This eclectic pub is furnished with re-claimed furniture from the nun's chapel. St. Mary's Bay Snow Crab is our signature dish in the dinning room where four-course fine dining is offered by reservation. The room features incredible wood work in rich warm textures and is decorated with traditional and international art. The view is remarkable and is a great place to start your traveling day while enjoying a hot three course breakfast in the morning featuring local berries and home made jams. New for 2013: starting in June lunch will be available daily! Bi-lingual service bien sur :) Join us in St. Mary's and enjoy access to the amenities offered by the Irish Loop. Cheers, Salut! Less
