My mother and I stayed for 1 night in the Newfoundland 1 Room. The room was large and bright with great views toward the ocean out one window and over the town out the other. The bathroom is large and the shower is roomy with great water pressure. The location is perfect- close to shops, restaurants and The Rising Tide Theater. Alma is a wonderful host, friendly and very welcoming. She served us a delicious breakfast of cereal with granola and fruit, toast and scrambled eggs, yogurt, date squares and juice. I would absolutely recommend this gem if you are visiting the area!

We spent three nights at The Compass and are very glad we did. A purpose-built B&B, it is quite new, airy, nicely decorated, and well-located. Bedrooms are a generous size as well. It is Alma, though, who is at the heart of an excellent stay. As other reviewers have noted, she is friendly, knowledgeable, and capable. She also produces a great breakfast and animates the morning conversation with razor-sharp wit. Alma does not live onsite, but rather commutes from two villages away to welcome guests, and to get the kitchen organized each day. During our stay she also let us in on a valuable travellers’ secret: stay for three nights and you will be shown where the washing machine is located! If you are looking to spend some time in Trinity, The Compass is an excellent choice.

The Compass was a lovely little B&B. Alma, the host, was really accommodating and friendly. Her breakfasts were truly unique as she took pains to created new dishes each day. She even explained how she tested the dishes on her family before trying them on her guests. The Compass is very central in the beautiful town of Trinity, one of our favourite places.

We stayed here for 3 nights and even though the weather was not great the B & B was!

Booking was easy and Alma, our host, gave us a call and handled payment seamlessly. The property is very clean and well laid out with an open sitting area, kitchen and dining table.

Our room was the Newfoundland 1 on the main floor and was very bright and a good size. The bathroom and shower were excellent. We had access to evening tea and coffee and could use the fridge and make a snack if we wanted to with our own supplies.

Breakfast was served at 8:30 am each day and the guests sat around a community table. All very good.

The top rating is warranted because of the quality of the B & B and because of Alma's care and attention for us. Alma has a personal touch which is not always present in some B & B's. It is obvious she is proud of the area and the people who live and work there.

We have no problem recommending a stay here and will return if we find our way back to the Trinity area.

We were lucky enough to stay at this property in 2019 August (Room: Newfoundland 2). I've always meant to write a review but never found the time - think of what it says about it if I actually came back and did it!

Trinity is a beautiful little town and the host of this B&B is a wonderful ambassador for her town and province. The accommodations were spotless and charming; the food was plentiful and delicious and the advice on what to do and see was spot on. I am gluten free and Alma (the hostess), was more than accommodating.

I would not hesitate to tell anyone to book here, and do it early so that you can stay a few days! We were sad to have to leave after a couple of nights.

If you are in the area, think about hiking the Skerwink Trail and stop off at the Port Rexton Brewery afterwards for a cold pint and a sandwich from Oh My Cheeses.

We spent 2 nights here visiting the beautiful Trinity and wouldn’t hesitate to return. The hostess Alma is great, providing great breakfasts and the b&b has everything you need. Our room as I imagine each of the rooms does, had a coastal view with a couple of restaurants available in walking distance for lunch/ dinner. Just perfect!

The Compass B&B is a lovely place right in the heart of the historical village of Trinity. The decor is very nicely done and the rooms are quite spacious. We found the beds very comfortable but most of all, loved having a view of the ocean right from our room.
The host Alma made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. She had a delightful sense of humour and she gave us suggestions for restaurants as well as provided detailed instructions on how to access the Skerwink Trail ( a must-do if you enjoy a challenging hike with spectacular views!).
Alma served us some delicious breakfasts (cold cereal and fruit, followed by a hot breakfast that changed each day we were there) and all the guests joined together each morning to swap stories of their adventures and to share recommendations of places to go and things to see.
Staying at the Compass was a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend to others. Top marks to both the B&B and Alma!

Stayed at Compass B&B in October 2020 and it quickly became one of my all-time favourite B&Bs. Alma is a host who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Such a kind-hearted, wonderful person. Newfoundland hospitality at its best. The B&B is beautiful, perfectly clean and the views from the windows/ back deck are fabulous. Ideal location in the heart of Trinity, making it easy to walk everywhere in town and only a quick drive to the Skerwink trail for excellent hiking. Can't recommend Alma's place enough. I'm already looking forward to coming back next summer!

We just got home from 2 weeks in Newfoundland and this was our absolute favourite place to stay! Not only is the home beautiful, but the hostess, Alma, was such a sweetheart! We really enjoyed visiting with her and the other clientele we were able to meet as well. Her breakfasts were delicious and she keeps this home sparkling clean. There are a few different themed rooms and every one of them is so nice! There is also a great little marina restaurant just down from this home and there is so much to see and do in the Trinity area. We will definitely be recommending this place to our family and friends.

The Compass B&B has an excellent location on a small hill in the center of Trinity. Walk everywhere within 5 minutes. Alma is a great hostess and her husband in fact purpose built the home for the current owner. Nice spacious rooms but be careful sound travels in a quiet place like this. Would stay here again.

We travelled as a couple, so our room had a queen bed - I'm not sure what the set-up was in the other bedrooms. You might find the information on their website, or contact the B&B directly.
