We couldn't have picked a nicer spot for our vacation in Trinity, Newfoundland. The accommodation, in quaint houses within the town of Trinity, were beautifully appointed, and cozy. All are a short walk to the Artisan Inn, where delicious meals were graciously served up, by a most friendly and welcoming staff. Suggestions for outings, tours and picnic lunches were effortlessly arranged, and thoroughly enjoyed. Watercolour painting lessons were available for those interested, and we were entertained one evening by a local, but well recognized fidler. Campbell House and the Artisan Inn are an extremely well run inn and restaurant combination, that cater well to visitors to this lovely town.

We enjoyed our stay at Campbell House.

Campbell H. was heaven, after our previous night at another Trinity B&B, Bishop White Manor. Unfortunately at Bishop White the floor sloped in our room and so did the bed. We felt we were sleeping on a ski slope, sliding downhill all night.

Campbell H. wasa wonderful spot. The linens, the bedding and, really, the building was a pleasure.

To top it off, breakfast was divine.

We'll be back.

Campbell House, Artisan Inn and the Twine Loft are of the finest quality without pretension. Upon arriving, you wonder “what’s the attraction?” Upon awakening you realize that the quality of the beds, linens, service and food is deserving of a 5 star establishment. It’s not the place if you’re looking for glitz and glamour – it’s an establishment of substance where a low key approach to quality ensures complete relaxation in a beautiful setting. Along with the Rising Tide Theatre within walking distance there are many fabulous attractions including a movie set replication of Newfoundland in the 1800’s, hiking trails, golf course and a short drive to historic Bonavista. For a completely stress free vacation, I would like to spend at least a week and know that there’s more to discover in this area. I’ve stayed at Campbell House three times over the years and the quality has always been consistently excellent. I have also had a staff retreat at Campbell House and my staff could not believe this level of quality exists in only a 3 hour drive from St. John’s.

Overpriced compared to other B&B's in the area. B&B is clean and simple, just overpriced. A very good two star would be my rating. Community is lovely. One day in the area is enough as pretty as it is.

My husband and I stayed in the room with private bathroom during our trip to Newfoundland in July 2013. The room was clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. The house itself was nicely restored. The bed was comfortable but sound travels through the walls and floor. We were lucky to have another quiet couple staying in the house otherwise having a good sleep would have been an issue. The ensuite was clean but it was very difficult to shower in the morning as the shower head is not mounted and the tub is small. The breakfast in the morning was continental and adequate. We spent three weeks travelling across Newfoundland and this B & B was the most expensive place we stayed and was far from the nicest. We believe it was overpriced.

Second stop on our driving tour of Newfoundland. Used lonely planet Canada & 2011 map & guide book for Newfoundland Labrador to map our trip. Spent a couple of nights booking B&B's, just under 2 months ahead of time & found it hard to get the first choice. We found all B&B's or Inn's that were en-suites, but didn't get all our first choices.
Here in Trinity we booked at Campbell House one room en-suite & one room with kitchen & private bathroom included, this was the most expensive of all the B&B's we stayed at. Nice room very comfortable be, we had the kitchen & private bathroom, everything you would need in the cupboards, fridge stove & microwave available. Breakfast here was also included, choice of cereal, muffins, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee & tea, more of a continental breakfast, and a breakfast menu is available at an extra cost. We also booked their Twine Loft dinner experience, it is a little different & a little costly, preorder for your choice of entres & starters, we started the ordering a bottle of wine with supper here.
Took a walking tour of the town, they have guides for a cost. Checked out a church, very impressive inside, wandered around & found the Dock Restaurant on the habour front that was also a store & museum headed there for supper that night, first lobster of the trip excellent. Kept with tradition and ordered a bottle of wine with supper.
During the walk-about we were invited to the Canada Day celebration at the post office were we enjoyed a short speech from the mayor, Canadian flag raising, little disappointed it was laying on the ground before it was raised. We listened as they sang the Newfoundland anthem & then we joined in on the Canadian anthem, then were invited for a hot dog, pop & cake. Noted on our walk that there are many boats on dryland, stored in the back or side yard of the owners home, so sad to see. Closing the fisheries sent many of the younger men off to Fort McMurray, they find a job, a girlfriend & rarely come home. This town is now a village which is now a part of a bight, which is a group of villages that have joined together for schools, hospitals etc. Trinity goes from a village of 300 people during the tourist season down to 30 families for the winter. Elderly if they have families there for the winter & young families have moved to town (St. John's).
Went to do the Skerwink Trail, which is a 5.3km trail that sends you inland & up to the top for cliff side walk. Easy trail at first then you start the up hill stair climb so if you have issues with stairs this is not the walk for you. Saw beautiful scenery, thought maybe we'd see a moose, no such luck, but we did see a couple of whales so cool. Got lots of pictures during this walk, not completely comfortable with being so close to the edge at times. Lots of look-out points. Another cool & foggy & drizzly day. But fun.
Found the town bar, Rocky's Place, enjoyable friendly bartender. We just asked her anything that we could think of about the area and she answered. Don't be afraid to ask anyone in Newfoundland just about anything, everyone is very friendly. Tourism is going strong in Newfoundland, met lots of people from other provinces but more from Ontario.

At best this property is a 2 star. The tiny room was musty and very uncomfortable. There was no where to sit and read, no lighting to read by and no room for 2 people to move around. The living room fireplace had a pilot light and although we asked to have the fire lit there was no response. There is no staff in the building. The most important thing was that there was no fire exits. Had there been a fire we would not have survived. The Twine Loft is supposed to be a" Where To Eat In Canada'"resturant. i HAVE HAD BETTER FOOD IN A ROADSIDE DINER. For example for breakfast the only choice was 2 tiny COLD crapes and cold muffins served with weak coffee. As a Newfoundlander it makes me ashamed to present a place with such a glowing advertisment to tourists. WE had booked 3 nights but left after 2 and cked into a Holiday Inn.

This review is long overdue, but better late than never! We stayed at one of the Artisan Inn properties, Campbell House, because we needed to accommodate our family of 3 in one room, at an affordable price. We had a double bed and at the other end of the room was a twin sized bed set against the window, for our 7-year-old son. The bathroom was private but outside the room; you had to cross the narrow hall to get to it. There was a couple staying in Campbell House at the same time, in the same floor, but their room must've had an ensuite bathroom. We practically never saw them.

The rooms were immaculate, and what I loved most was the feeling of a trip back in time as you're staying in this house from another century... It is in perfect harmony with Trinity's quaint, unique ambiance.

The food at the Artisan Inn was very, very good. The staff, in general, was super friendly and helpful. Our son spilled a lot of chocolate milk on his shirt one afternoon, but we discovered they did laundry for less than $10 a load - so we handed it over with other stuff and by the next morning said shirt (and the extra clothes) was completely stain-free, clean, and folded! The owner was also very helpful with tips about what to see around the area (such as the Four Points lighthouse). Everything in the Artisan Inn is organized to perfection.

Our family had an absolutely wonderful stay. It simply could not have been better. Even though I think it's probably geared more for couples (most of the rooms are) our 7-year-old son was never bored in Trinity. He loved the blacksmiths' forge, the rocky beach (where he found a large, red jellyfish), and the nearby Four Points lighthouse. It was a peaceful, enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Our group of 4 people had this charming 150-year-old house all to ourselves for the night, since the people who reserved the other room were no-shows. It was fantastic. We had a large double room for the couple in our group, and two small but cozy attic lofts for the two other members. We also got full access to the parlour and sitting room areas downstairs, with a fireplace and all sorts of charming and authentic touches - antique furniture, old books, even a fiddle. But the owners have done a marvelous job of adding modern conveniences to the property while still keeping it true to its charm and style. There's a DVD player, modern bathrooms, a refrigerator, even WiFi. We loved our trip back in time, and the hospitality was wonderful. It was a little bit expensive compared to other B&Bs in the area, but not outrageously so. And the breakfast at the Twine Loft was excellent.
