We were just passing through to PEI on Saturday night. We were referred to the Tourist Home by another hotelier. Really peaceful experience. We stayed in the former bunkhouse that has been converted into 4 rooms like a motel. You are literally in the parking lot of a working farm with scattered farm vehicles and barns but that's what makes it really neat. Rooms are very basic. Pine board walls and ceiling, basic furnishings but it is situated across from an amazing beach. Beds are really comfy. Don't miss the Driftwood Beach across the street. Its a hidden gem. When we were there the folks from town were lining up for the annual parade including the grand marshall and wife in the vintage red convertible. Dance at the fire station that night. Ahhh the simple life. Wonderful hostess - Donna. Highly recommend for an overnight in Advocate Harbor. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Thanks Donna Reid!

The Reid's are so friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotless and had a sitting area in the front and a bedroom in the back.

Advocate Harbor is a lovely town and would love to go back and spend a couple of weeks -- I feel like I left a piece of my heart there. There is not one souvenir shop in the whole town. The people are so friendly, and we enjoyed going to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. Delicious quiche, baked goods and coffee. Jams and other handmade goods as well.

There are tons of things to do, and we only scratched the surface:

--The town beach is a good place to go for quiet and I collected some sea glass
--Take the Zodiac with Else Marie and Werner from Advocate Boat Tours to Cape Split. You ride through the Dory Rips which is so cool. Sorry we didn't have time for the Isle Haute trip.
--There are 2 parts to Cape Chigneto Park - the one right at the edge of town and the one you need to drive to. Take a couple of the hikes at the far one - there was no one there, the scenery is spectacular, and you won't be disappointed.
--Go to the Cape D'Or Lighthouse and have dinner at Chef Darcy's restaurant. One of the nicest meals we've ever had.
--Eat at Wild Caraway, the food is delicious and have their homemade sodas.
--Eat at the Gas Station. Everything is homemade and we ate breakfast there, and also bought some baked goods. They have ice cream too.

We stayed through a June weekend at Ried's Tourist Home & Cottages, renting the Bay Vista Cottage, our favourite. We ate at the nearby Wild Caraway Restaurant, wandered and photograhed Advocate Beach, Advocate Harbour, Cape d'Or, and a bit further afield in Fraserville and Apple River. Such a wonderful balm for the soul.

The cottage was clean and neat as a pin, all the expected kitchen amenities were available, and the view was spectacular. Donna is a gracious hostess, and made us feel very welcome. We will return, again and again.

We stumbled on this place while looking for somewhere to stay due to an unexpected change of plans in Advocate Harbour. What a great surprise! The two bedroom house was spacious, extremely clean, and very comfortable.
The view from the front window was the Harbour, and the deck out front was a great place to sit and sip a glass of wine.
The kitchen was well-equipped, and all the beds were so comfortable - it was our best sleep of the whole two week trip!
On top of that, the rate for the night was unbelievably reasonable compared to other accommodations in the area.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who is looking for great comfort and great value!

We stayed here during our Nova Scotia vacation. The owners were very helpful, the rooms were clean. We stayed at both cottages. Very good value for 4 of us. The cottages are a bit spartan. Overall, we were ok with our stay. Unfortunately, my wife has a bad back and is particularly picky about bed firmness, and both cottages' mattesses were definitely on the soft side.

On another note, we have Roger's wireless. All around this area, there is no Rogers signal, Also, there is no wifi signal in either cottages. For some reason, we were able to get Roger's signal only in the cottages and not even 1 block away. Worked out for our family as I had a wireless hotspot device.

A pleasant stay in a large, airy cottage. Spotlessly clean, with a well stocked kitchen. Great view of the Bay of Fundy, and pleasant hostess. Only very minor drawback was the background noise of a working farm, which the children all slept through.

I am thrilled that the Reid's Century Farm is up on Trip Advisor. We have been staying here almost annually since 1988, and this year we visited twice, in May, and now in November. In recent years we have rented one of the two small cottages they have available (they also have three guest rooms in a building adjacent their farmhouse). Both cottages are clean, quiet, and modestly (but thoroughly) appointed. There are full kitchens in the two buildings, as well as propane BBQ. A perfect base to explore this wonderful area, one of the prettiest in Nova Scotia.

The Reid family are friendly and professional, and we have never experienced any difficulties during any of our numerous stays.

You can self-cater (there is a well-stocked small grocery in the nearby village of Advocate Harbour), or eat at the finest restaurant in Nova Scotia, the Wild Caraway, just five minutes away in Advocate Harbour.

And nearby attractions are too numerous to mention, but I'll try: Cape Chignecto Wilderness Park, Cape d'Or (with its lighthouse), the extraordinary tidal fluctuations in Advocate Harbour, the "Driftwood Beach" that shelters Advocate Harbour, Apple River, Joggins Fossil Cliffs (less than an hour away), Wards Brook Falls Trail (30 minutes away), Parrsboro Geological Museum (45 minutes away), Spencer's Island.

We plan to return again, and again, . . .

This is a bit like staying at a motel on a farm. No breakfast included, but the gas station/convenience store up the road does breakfast for a very reasonable price. And, we found after staying in several B&B’s on our maritime adventure, that not having to sit and talk was a bit of a relief. Nothing fancy here, but clean and comfortable.

We ended up staying hre when our reservation at the Wild Caraway were down for the wrong day. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts and given two rooms in what had been the bunkhouse of the old farmhouse. It was exceptionally clean, reasonably priced and very comfortable.

We had made a one night reservation, not knowing ahead of time if it would be available for more than that.
We decided to upgrade to the lower level of their cottage, which is just down the road.
The cottage was wonderful and fully equipped for anything, including cooking meals, which is not a bad idea as there isnt much in the way of restaurants in Advocate Harbour.
The hosts are delightful and we wished that we could have stayed longer.
