We offer a place to unwind and enjoy what the Bay of Fundy has to offer. Open May - November
We had a marvelous stay, including dinner, at the Lighthouse this June. Unbelievable views, warmly welcoming host, comfortable accommodations, lovely dinner - we could ask for nothing more. If you're in Nova Scotia, do yourself a favor and make an effort to experience this unique place yourself.

We stayed overnight at the Lighthouse in one of the keeper's houses and ate dinner and breakfast in the small restaurant on-site, which occupied the other keeper's house. The restaurant is very small and simple, but immaculate, with seating for people who come just for dinner as well as for people who are staying overnight. Darcy prepared an awesome dinner (seafood lasagna, caesar salad, strawberry rhubarb tart), one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared as well. A family group had come up from town for a celebratory dinner when we were there. Everything is very casual and friendly. Wine beer and spirits are available. The "hotel" rooms are simple but atmospheric; perhaps a little updating is in order. There is a nice common room with books, coffee, tea, etc. Of course, the best feature is that you can see the Lighthouse from your room. Definitely recommend this experience, it will add a lot to your holiday!…

Great breakfasts and dinners. Darcy is an exceptional concierge. Best bedsheets we’ve slept on since arriving in NS! And as a plus, Wild Caraway is at top of the road, as well as Irving. Suggest walking sticks for the access trail.

We spent three nights at the Cape d’or lighthouse in early October. The bedroom itself, met our basic needs and was comfortable enough, as was the ensuite bathroom. In fact, the shower water remained hot, even when there were 6 guests in the home, using water at the same time one morning. There is a shared living area, which has a refrigerator, toaster oven, utensils, and sink. There is no TV and Wifi is a bit spotty, BUT the views of the Bay of Fundy, the cliffs, the lighthouse, and moon lit nights, were spectacular and a photographer’s dream. There is no longer a working fog horn at the lighthouse, but do bring eye shades if you are sensitive to light at night, as the light house light continues in use. We also learned that the best way to reach Darcy, who runs the lighthouse guest home, is by text messaging, and you will need to know how to get into the guest home if he is not there upon arrival. He was very friendly and hospitable when we met him, as well as his helper, and very responsive when I asked for another pillow, and suggestions for places to do laundry. The drive up to the lighthouse is about 7 kilometers, on a dirt road, which does have a few steep areas. We would suggest parking in the lot at the end of the road, packing light, and walking down to the guest home and lighthouse, as the road from the parking lot to the lighthouse is a steep and rocky, and there is one area that does not have guard rails. We would also recommend eating at the lighthouse at least one night, if dinner is available {it is not served every night}. Darcy is a gourmet cook, and all meals (including breakfast) were outstanding. Breakfast included the best coffee in all of our 3-week Canada trip. There are also some lovely hiking trails in the area. A highly recommended place to stay.…

This time, we were in room 3 and enjoyed the waterfront view. It pays to book far in advance because rooms tend to fill up early in the summer. As if the views and the quiet were not enough, it’s worth the visit for the meals alone. This time, we selected the Thai curry with scallops and it was delicious. Breakfast is also excellent, with a fine selection of herbal teas as well as coffee.

We loved it here! You will drive on a gravel road to get to it, then walk down a rocky path. The walk is not too tough even for over 60 year olds like us! We met the waitress who was biking down the hill as we arrived. Views are spectacular. If you stay like we did you will see the change in tides of the Bay of Fundy. The dinner was fantastic! We had salmon with rhubarb crisp for dessert. All was soooo delicious. The owner and chef went out of his way to accommodate all my dietary issues. As night fell the sunset was breathtaking, and the quiet oneness with nature on the coast was fantastic. We slept in the lighthouse keepers quarters. They were clean and simple fitting in with the atmosphere. Perfect. There are 4 rooms each with a private bath. We only reserved one. Definitely recommend staying here. A great experience!…

When I read about the Lighthouse and Cape d'Or, I was hooked and was so pleased to confirm two nights in late June. Getting there is an adventure and part of the allure. Advocate Harbour, the nearest village, is pretty remote, but the inn even more so. You turn off the main road to a gravel road and travel about 6 km. At the end of that road you park and walk down to the inn, lighthouse and amazing views. The owner, Darcy, is a wonderful cook and we had two great meals while there. He is also a fascinating raconteur , telling great stories about the area and his life. We loved meeting and eating with our fellow guests. I highly recommend the Lighthouse at Cape d'Or!

We 6, daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren under the age of 10, were at the Lighthouse for 2 nights over the May long weekend. We were very lucky to have had the whole Lighthouse Keeper's House to ourselves. It would have been difficult to have youngsters if the accommodations had to be shared. Magnificent views and very relaxing and quiet. Great place to also appreciate the force of the tides.

The view is spectacular from almost every direction. The walk down to the lighthouse, Restaurant and Inn is a bit rough so make sure to wear appropriate footwear (there are vehicles down there but I wouldn’t do it unless it was a truck or a Jeep). Going back up is a bit more of a challenge simply because of the steepness. The food was great and the beds were comfortable enough. Darcy (the owner) is a great host - I would highly recommend this place even if you just go for lunch!

We stayed at The Lighthouse on Cape d’Or almost 15 years ago, before any of these reviews were written. It was an experience we will never forget! Even though my husband couldn’t sleep well since he had suffered two broken ribs earlier in the trip, we enjoyed our stay and Darcy’s hospitality very much. We are so glad he is still there, so everyone can enjoy his hospitality, great food and wry sense of humor. Hope to go back sometime.
