Detailed Reviews
This retreat is so unique and welcoming. The 2 story chalet has the kitchen and living room on the second floor which allows for wonderful views when dining and relaxing. It’s got everything you need and the BBQ worked well and the kitchen had the needed utensils. The bed was super comfortable and lots of hot water for the showers! The beach is so unique and lovely and watching the ride rise and fall so peaceful! There was even a fire on the beach one night!

We stayed in the Bungalow Chalet that is an accessible unit AND pet friendly!
Our children loved the loft space while our senior Father was able to comfortably enjoy one level living. Our pup was greeted with his own towel for wiping muddy paws and a special dog treat from the owners.
All the essentials were provided in the chalet. The unit was clean, fully stocked (just bring food) and I cannot say enough about the friendly and accommodating hosts who ensured we had everything we needed, the friendly surrounding village amenities and absolutely STUNNING property and access to the Bay. It was the perfect place to relax and catch up with loved ones.

This year has proven to be a staycation year and has been a reminder to take the time to visit our home province. The cottages were a perfect retreat from daily routines. The beach is amazing with driftwood in all shapes and sizes. A photographer's dream, a painter's inspiration. The cottages are fully equipped to a high standard of kitchen requirements, the beds are comfortable and cozy with comforters and quilts. Nearby Cape Chignecto Provincial Park offers incredible trails and walks and also vistas of Cape d'Or, Ile Haute and the Bay of Fundy. A perfect getaway.

We had stayed at the Driftwood Park Retreat many years ago (10+ years) and really enjoyed it. For a family weekend away, we wanted to repeat the experience and booked 3 rooms. Our plan was to pair the nights away with excursions in the area including kayaking on the Bay of Fundy. What was unexpected was that the remnants of a hurricane would make landfall on the exact dates of our trip. Needless to say our kayaking trip was cancelled with a full refund from the operator. When trying to get a refund (full/partial) from Driftwood we were told that weather was out of their control and basically "too bad / so sad" for you. We didn't want to even chance the drive there as winds and rain would have made driving risky. We were out roughly $1500 across 3 families with no offer for even a partial refund or a credit for a future stay. While I understand that the owner would have been out the room rental, we were given no concession at all to make us feel better about this place or visit again. Their refund policy is clear but we thought a hurricane might warrant an exception or at least a concession from the owner. What poured salt in the wound was that one of the rooms would have had 3 people (us and our son) and the owner had the gall to charge us the extra occupancy rate on top of the full rate even though we didn't stay at all. Overall, he came up the short term winner because he made his money, did not have to clean the rooms and even made off with the extra occupancy rate. Don't go here unless you are certain of the weather and there are no chances you might have to cancel.

Recently stayed at the Chalets and was in the furthest chalet which has no balcony. I was aware of this fact but not the mice! After arriving , whilst checking in, the owner informed me ( after payment was complete) that there were mice brought in by former guests who had left doors open. In addition, the fireplace was unusable as he was not sure of the location of the “ additional guests” so it was taped shut. Additional tape was found near floorboards that joined at the wall. My sense was , mice had not just appeared but had taken up residence for some time. Good start for a two nights stay!
A great location but the current owners are not maintaining what was once a beautiful property. Some local folk asked about conditions there and were not surprised at our answer.
This is important for future and unsuspecting tourists to be aware. Folks who travel are accustomed to much better conditions than this. Too bad as location and potential are certainly there.

The chalets are a great size with lots of space and clean upon arrival. It was our first time in Nova Scotia and really neat to stay in a small village like Advocate Harbour. The second day it rained but there was lots of space in the kitchen/loft to enjoy games inside. The landscape reminds me a lot of Ireland.
There are plenty of trails accessible to Driftwood Retreat. We hiked a ton and enjoyed a relaxing and calm night on the beach. The bay was very calm and sunsets were beautiful. Next time we would like to do a kayak trip while we are there. This place is an outdoor enthusiasts dream - a lot of the hiking trails offer over-night camping options and access to washrooms. We stuck to 10km or less as we were happy to stay in the chalet at night.
The owners are very welcoming and will go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay.
Would return 10/10.

The owners are wonderful people. Introducing me to their “pet” chipmunk was a treat.
They take great pride in their property.
An unhurried gem location with lots for the person who enjoys the outdoors, stunning scenery, and friendly people.
Harish and Monica make themselves available to address your needs, and to recommend dining in Advocate.
Thank you for making my daughter’s visit memorable.

My 3rd time here at the chalets. Location is perfect if you love to hear the waves, love a spectacular view and the comforts of home for a reasonable price. The chalets are showing their age and need some TLC but the new owners are doing a wonderful job. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen has all you need. This property could be a gold mine if someone wanted to invest in some renovations and the road in, mostly used by the fish hatchery, needs to be graded.

These chalets and this beach are just special. Nova Scotia has alot of beaches, but this one is different. It is not sandy. But it has a magic. And staying in these lovely chalets pretty well on the beach is magical. And yes, even when it is foggy outside. That is also part of the magic. Harish and Monica our hosts were very hospitable and accommodating to help us with our scheduling snags and keep our trip running smoothly. I hope to come back and stay longer! and maybe book the hot tub next time too!

This vacation to Driftwood Park Resort as certainly one to remember.. There was a beautiful view of the ocean in the front, the relaxing white noise sound of the ocean while falling asleep, and the gorgeous view of the green valleys behind. Advocate Harbour is a quaint small town that reminded me of a place out of a story book. There were days the fog would come in from the water and paint the valleys. The chalets had everything we needed and the owners were very kind and accommodating. Don’t miss out on the Wild Caraway or the Indian food at the gas station down the road, both have arguably the best food I have ever tasted. Don’t miss out on this experience, it is one to enjoy at least once in your lifetime. Huge thank you to the owners and people of Advocate Harbour for making our stay so enjoyable!
