We stayed at the Telegraph House Hotel on the fifth day of our seven day trip.

The Telegraph House was certainly a stay that will be the most memorable for the sum of its parts.

Firstly, check-in was brisk and very friendly, as we wanted to go to the Cable Room, their in-house restaurant, for supper after a long day of travelling. They were very accomodative and brought us right in, we quickly changed and dressed up, and they had a seat for us in the restaurant as soon as we were done.

They set us up in the dining room privately. It was an extremely romantic and intimate setting. That, paired with the excellent service staff, and with delicious cocktails, wine offerings, and the culinary creations of the chef and his staff, made for a meal that was absolutely wonderful. Also, being newly engaged, we asked if they would take some nice photos of us together, and they happily took some outside of the hotel so that we had a snapshot of that night.

The room itself was spacious, nice and bright with a very comfortable bed, and a nice hot shower. The cabin we stayed in was nice and private, and allowed us to come back without disturbing any guests after a night on the town!

It is also worth mentioning the Baddeck is a location that is a must visit if you like the charm of a small town that's well maintained and has history, with residents that have clear pride in their town. We felt so welcome and had an amazing time cruising around the boardwalk, exploring and window shopping.

The owner of the Telegraph House has something very special, and being the fifth generation to run the hotel, has clearly honed the art of guest services to a precision edge. We appreciate all of the hospitality and kindness they offered to us and will certainly visiting again soon. 10/10 would recommend!

Times are tough during the pandemic. There were a few details which needed attention in our room and the owner kindly took note of them.

Overall the room was comfortable. The shower and beds were great as is the location and I highly recommend the restaurant (The Cable Room.)

We had two rooms here. One was fine but the other had hair in the bathtub and one of the beds. There were no toiletries in the bathroom. Staff were all very friendly and nice. I would suggest another waste basket in the room as well as a mirror so that they can be used if someone else is in the bathroom. Location is good

We enjoyed a 3 day stay at the Inn. Room #41 with a great view of the bay and convenient parking next to the unit. All conveniences in the room. This hotel is an older establishment which may need some updating in the future. The bed was comfortable however a few extra pillows would be appreciated. Nice to have a small fridge in the room which comes in very handy when travelling. Not sure that a Nespresso coffee maker is as much appreciated as an ordinary coffeemaker for that morning cup although complimentary coffee was offered in the lobby. We found all members of the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel has an excellent restaurant for dinner which is a great asset especially with the closure of so many restaurants in town due to Covid and few visitors. All together a wonderful stay and we highly recommend this cozy hotel.

We stayed at the Telegraph House recently and it is a perfect spot for couples travelling alone or with children. We stayed in one of the quaint cottage which had a lovely sitting area or front with a gorgeous view of the Bras d'Or Lake. Perfect location, close to all attractions. Friendly service. We will definitely return.

We had a queen size bed on the second floor with a balcony facing the water. It was comfortable enough for 2 people. The balcony was really nice to have to enjoy the sunrise and evenings on. It's an older style hotel with lots of antique touches. There is no elevator so be prepared for stairs. Part of the charm of this hotel is the history and the ambience so if you are expecting fully modern amenities and furniture this wouldn't be the place for you. If you are looking for quaint and charming this is definitely your place. There was daily housekeeping, free parking and you can walk to all of the restaurants and shops nearby. Would happily stay here again. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that the restaurant was not open for the season during our stay.

Upon arrival, it was exactly what we were hoping for. The place takes you back to the warm details of the building. We had selected a room in the Telegraph House. The rooms are well equipped with everything you need. The location is exceptional you can walk to everything and just a short drive to local attractions. The staff are incredibly attentive to your needs and went over and beyond in our situation.

It has a beautifully furnished Inn with antique furniture. The wrap-around front porch was comfortable, with a great view. We stayed in the motel section for my mobility needs instead of a staircase to rooms. The room was comfortable, with open windows to allow fresh air. Quiet place. We had dinner in the Cable Room with 5-star dining and service. The reception staff thoroughly checked in and out and helped with breakfast recommendations. Housekeeping asked both days if we needed anything. We ate at the Highlander Cafe across the street, with a wonderful breakfast and a very friendly staff. There is a terrific Celeigh every night in the summer at St. Michael's Parish Hall one block away from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Leave a voicemail message in advance to reserve seats and pay $15.00 each upon arrival. Great Celtic music entertainers!

We requested a room with wood floors and a balcony. Room was clean and we felt safe and comfortable.

Pros: decent bed, great balcony views, in the middle of town for ease of visiting the town, small tv for quiet or rainy evenings, decent water pressure, best restaurant in town by far

Cons: wish we had a mini fridge, a/c was really loud so we couldn’t have it on over night, I could do without the creepy doll/baby photos and paintings in the room.

It has a charm(?) of staying at your great grandmothers house. Would stay again but would most likely try a cabin next time.

BEST restaurant in town for sure. A bit pricey but we knew that when planning our trip. Made exceptions for some dietary restrictions without any judgement. Great service. (We ate at six different places in the town with varying price points)

Tip: have the sorbet. No really, have the sorbet.

Enjoyed our two nights at the Telegraph House. Room 12, while a wee bit small, was a corner room and had windows on each side that allowed a devine cool breeze to flow through. Also a nice view of the lake. The bed was comfortable and the room super tidy. Would return again.
