We visited last weekend from Halifax for a little getaway. I’ve been to Baddeck many times and this is the place to stay! I never write reviews but I have to give a shout-out to this Inn. Perfect waterfront location, friendly hosts, great breakfast (re: previous review-the plastic takeaway containers etc were clearly COVID related measures- they gave real dinnerware and linens), and there is no better room in Baddeck (or Nova Scotia for that matter) than the Lighthouse room. Do yourself a favour and stay here and try for the Lighthouse Room so you can listen to the waves as you sleep.

This was our first time to Cape Breton and we sure picked the spot to stay in Baddeck! This place was absolutely spotless and well kept. It is the only waterfront accommodations in the area and being also on the Main Street it is the perfect location. Dining options were limited at this time of the year but we were able to get takeout and enjoy it on the deck by the propane fireplace. We stayed in the Mabel Bell Room which was beautifully decorated and had TOP quality linens.
Breakfast was simple but all anyone needs- fresh, variety and great coffee.
Highlight recommend and we will be back!

Nova Scotia first time here, drove up from Halifax to Cape Breton. Found the Dunlap Inn on a whim, and couldn't have made a better decision on where to stay. Located on the quieter end of town, but walkable to shops, cafes, and restaurants. Clean, well maintained, beautiful victorian style house. The location is really what makes it special, right on the water with beach access, incredible views of the lighthouse. They even have kayaks for use, which I did on a couple unseasonably warm and sunny afternoons. The breakfast spread was delicious, freshly baked scones from the nearby bakery were brought in each morning(: Fantastic place to stay and the owners are delightful, wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I return to Cape Breton!

The good: location right on the water
The bad: garage style sliding door in the room to separate the bathroom from the bedroom does not slide well and does not completely close off the bathroom. So much for privacy in the loo.
The ugly: breakfast was cheap, limited, and plastic dishes and cutlery were provided.
There's no excuse for this in a hotel in this price range.

We were greeted at check in by our friendly host and enjoyed rooms with all amenities thoughtfully prepared. The rooms and common areas were very tastefully decorated and offered a very calming presence. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside deck and dock, as well as the TV room. The breakfasts were fantastic and offered enough to set you up for the day. The location is very convenient for exploring Cape Breton. Our host was very helpful with providing itineraries and restaurant suggestions.

Beautifully appointed room, well-furnished common area. Breakfast was laid out nicely with a wide variety of breakfast options. Our hostess was well-informed, charming and dependable. The Dunlop Inn is conveniently located in Baddeck and in easy walking distance to restaurants & shops. We were in The Lighthouse room; it was so relaxing to wake up in the morning and from your bed look out over the water. The Dunlop Inn is the perfect base for travels throughout Cape Breton

We booked the Dunlop Inn based on its high reviews and it didn't disappoint! The care and attention that goes into running it was clear in everything. The bed and pillows were wonderfully soft after a day on the Cabot trail, and the breakfast far exceeded my expectations for a continental breakfast. The lake view and outdoor seating was a great place to relax,.and of course they had thought of making binoculars and blankets available. We felt well taken care of, and hope to one day be back!

Beautiful location, immaculate clean, so relaxing sitting out in the back deck enjoying the sun and the view. Location right on the water and beside the Freight Shed restaurant. Excellent recommendations from our hosts for a short hike to a waterfall and then music before dinner next door to the Dunlop Inn at the Yacht Club. The hosts were so attentive but never intrusive and were so kind in offering a glass of wine to sip while we sat beside the fire pit outside in the evening. Nespresso coffee option for the morning , cereal, yogurt, variety of fruit and delicious biscuits.
We will be returning.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay at this lovely inn. You cannot find a better location with a deck and patio right on the water offering a beautiful view. You are within walking distance of Baddeck's charming main street. The breakfast offers a nice variety of options in a comfortable dining area. We stayed in room 3 and knew that our private bathroom was across the hall. In the end, it was okay but would definitely opt for a different room next visit. Thank you to our lovely hosts!

We had just the one night to enjoy the lovely Lighthouse Room; spacious, very comfortable, beautifully decorated with a magnificent view of the lake and the namesake lighthouse. This restored family home has a nice intimate feel. Quiet, great location near the Alexander Graham Bell museum. Generous continental breakfast with fresh fruit, baked goods, cereals etc. Charming lakeside seating area too. A very popular locale and it was easy to see why. Would recommend highly.
