Our room was large, clean quiet and comfortable with a balcony from which we had a wonderful, peaceful view of the port, lighthouse and laughing families out for a walk. The breakfast was tasty with many choices and indoor or outdoor tables to choose from. We had a refrigerator, and it was possible to walk to get some groceries or to a pharmacy. This is a place with great ambiance in a beautiful area, a charming village with a number of recreational possibilities in the area, and I recommend it highly.

But the most remarkable, the best thing in a very good place was the kindness, attentiveness and generosity of the hosts, Ann and Jeff. I cannot imagine anyone going farther than they did when my husband became ill. They went out of their way, above and beyond any expectation we might have had to help us. If we have occasion to return to Cape Breton (and we hope to), we know exactly where we will stay.

Water's Edge is a great place to stay, especially for a "down day" on a long trip. It is quiet and the rooms have a lovely view of the harbor from private balconies. The furnishings are very high quality, what you would find in a nice home. The Inn is attached to an art gallery and there is original art throughout. The hosts make a wonderful breakfast with several types of home-made bread. Inn is within 5 min walking distance of the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. Also, the Freight Shed, a couple of minutes walk away, is an exceptional restaurant. Would have liked to get a bit more local information (such as about whale-watching, hiking) form the hosts. Definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed three nights. Plenty of parking across the street. Main floor was undergoing renovation and the kitchen was not functioning yet. We were provided with breakfast vouchers valid at the nearby Freight Shed restaurant at the main dock (good eats there!)

We stayed in room 1 and it was accessible and had a great view of the water. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious.
The owners and their staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Breakfast was good and included homemade bread, waffles, fruits and cereals.
We have been here before and we will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

This inn is amazing! Great location to explore by walking the town of Baddeck. Central location to explore all of Cape Breton. The folks at the inn are friendly and the room was just amazing. Incredible views from the room and beautiful, comfortable decor. Quiet room and very comfortable bed. Breakfast vouchers for The Freight Shed provided us a delicious breakfast with harborside dining each morning. Will definitely go back!!!!

Just before we left to go Nova Scotia, I made a change to our itinerary and decided to make a stop in Baddeck instead of Sydney. We were fortunate to get a booking at the Water's Edge. Just like its name, it's located on the waterfront so it's conveniently located to the main street. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast the next morning was very good - excellent strong coffee, tasty waffles, fresh pastries, and hard boiled eggs. The owners are friendly but not intrusive. We enjoyed our night here.

As a bonus, the gallery on the ground floor has some lovely art.

My husband and I chose to celebrate our anniversary in Nova Scotia and are so happy we did! We stayed for two nights at the beautiful Waters Edge and enjoyed our stay immensely. Our room was spotless, had a stunning view, was beautifully decorated, and the morning breakfast was delish. Jeff and his wife were so kind and wonderful throughout our stay! They took time to get to know us and helped us celebrate our special occasion. They even gave us Mardi Gras beads to bring home to the kiddos. Add this spot to your travel list!

spent only one night and hope we had planned for a longer stay. Inn keepers are a charming American couple who go out of their ways with tips and advice on what to do. Inn has a great water view on the harbor. Only drawback is noisy AC>

Unknowingly we made reservations here at a time when it was changing ownership. When we arrived early, there was work going on and we were told to get lost until check in time. From there everything got better! Our accommodations, the Rose Cottage, were very nice and recently renovated. Breakfast was wonderful, across the street at the Freight Shed. Everyone at the hotel and the Freight Shed were friendly. In the end we had a five star stay!

Stayed only one night because we were on our way to Cabot Trail. Excellent stopover but would recommend people could stay longer. Cannot say enough good things about the hosts. Extremely friendly and helpful. Place is right on the water's edge. Dock right there with a very convenient restaurant. Catamaran was docked there at the time so it was fun to look at. Breakfast was fantastic. Waffles, quiche, lots of good variety. Highly recommend this place.

In my review of Water's Edge from last November I included a photo of the bottom level of Rose Cottage. The room was spacious and very comfortably furnished with a nice view across the road to the water. The cottage is right next door to the main building with easy access to the breakfast room. We had a very enjoyable night in Baddeck and would highly recommend this inn.
