We loved everything about this B&B! The owner Elizabeth was very welcoming. She was helpful when asked about things to see and do in Baddeck. This beautiful home has a great view, is very quiet and it's only a short walk to town. The rooms were lovely with private ensuites. The breakfasts and fresh baked treats were absolutely delicious! Thanks Elizabeth for making our 2 nights in Baddeck memorable!

We chose Beira's Retreat for a three night stay and were extremely pleased with our room, Elizabeth's hospitality, her tasty meals and Beira's friendly disposition. Elizabeth was very accommodating to all our needs and a wonderful host of this B&B. The common area was beautifully appointed, roomy and well stocked with books. We would return if ever in Beddeck again.

Just what we needed in a stay...calm, clean, but, especially a gracious Host, ultra clean room and home...and, Beira, an awesome fun playful doggie. Elizabeth made an outstanding breakfast for our journey, as well as being a wonderful woman to converse with. We truly enjoyed our stay immensely.

This B&B is a new enterprise (taken over a couple of years ago and re-done?) and it is truly a labor of love by the owner. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the location is perfect, and Elizabeth's hospitality is top-notch. She served us baked French toast for breakfast which was a real treat. I would go out of my way to stay at this B&B again.

Beira is her small dog, who's a real cutie.

My husband and I traveled for a friends wedding to Baddeck, NS in the beginning of April 2015, we stayed at Beira's Retreat B&B, we would highly recommend the establishment to anyone who is looking for a gorgeous getaway, with comfortable elegant rooms, the owner Elizabeth Graham treated us like family, very personable and accommodating with amazing home made food, and the views from the large porch were just breathtaking. very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beira’s Retreat. Our host was most accommodating and our room was perfect. We were greeted with a cup of tea and oatcakes. Our host even went out of her way to prepare gluten free French Toast for breakfast which was delicious. She recommended local entertainment which was just down the road and a lovely place for us to dine. This was the perfect way to begin our adventure around Cape Breton Is. Thank you! Karen and Maia

Beira’s Retreat is a gem, perfectly placed on the fringe of Baddeck, itself a beautiful little town on Bras d’Or Lake. Elizabeth is a great hostess, warm & welcoming and her home is extremely well appointed in every way. Breakfasts were delightful with homemade snacks always readily available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & indeed would have wished for longer- there’s so much to see and do locally. A real find!

Beira’s Retreat is a feel-good place the moment you pull into the driveway. What a beautiful house and property! Elizabeth (and Beira!) offered warm hospitality as soon as I opened the front door, which then continued throughout my stay. Elizabeth is a warm and welcoming proprietor and Beira is the most delightful house-pup. My private bedroom w/bath was perfectly comfortable; I had everything I needed. There’s a table in the public hallway fully stocked with coffee and tea (make your own), as well as cookies and biscuits. The dining room and great room are magnificent! Open and bright, it has very comfortable seating and showcases interesting artwork. There’s a bookcase stocked with a large variety of titles, and I believe there’s a stereo w/CDs for music listening. I may also recall a piano in the room. It was great to be able to curl up in a comfy chair by the window to work on my journal and read a book. Breakfast – generous and tasty helpings! - was served about 8am (Elizabeth will prearrange a time that works for you).

I appreciated the easy and friendly conversations with Elizabeth. We talked about local places of interest and she shared her recommendations for things to do/see. Her B & B is perfectly located for exploring, with easy access to points in all directions. Some absolute highlights for me were: a ceilidh at the Gaelic College; touring the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site (should not to be missed – it’s one of the best museums you’ll ever go to IMHO); grabbing a slice or two from Tom’s Pizza and taking it out to Big Spruce Brewing (buy a beer and eat w/your pizza); and dining at The Bite House (hands down the best meal I’ve ever had…you’ll have to reserve a seat far, far in advance). Even having done all of this I feel like I only scratched the surface of Baddeck. There are local artists to discover, local music to listen to, local culture to explore, local beauty to soak in.

Beira’s Retreat is the real deal. I’ll be ever-grateful to Elizabeth for her hospitality and contribution to making my trip to Cape Breton a lovely, memorable experience. Thank you!

As others have mentioned, the location is close to all things Baddeck, and it's a pleasant place to pause while touring Cape Breton. Elizabeth is a helpful but unobtrusive host and a nice person to be around. My wife was on a special diet and was accommodated at breakfast - I lit into the snack table at night. We followed E's suggestion of a sojourn to the waterfall (map at tourist info) and enjoyed the variety of mushrooms along the trail.
The guest living room was a comfortable place to read in the evening...a fabulous library...and I also enjoyed listening to the jazz of "My Foolish Things" on the stereo.
The deck is a nice place at dusk and after. I thought I was seeing cats pouncing on moths on the lawn after dark and Elizabeth asked if I had noticed my company: twas an adult fox with two young ones playing in the yard. It was a short drive to Ingonish Beach after our stay. (The liquor store is just across the road if you need to
stock up for a nightcap in the lounge.)
