Not much to say. Main office had no info on restaurants or where to eat, seemed more concerned to finish for the night. Room was ok, no AC. The views outside were beyond breathtaking! Our back window opened up to the restaurant next door, so even though it was ocean view we had no privacy.
The place is where you can be by the Golf of St Laurence and enjoy the sound of crashing wave when the wind is howling. The Wifi is soso. But you are there for the views. We were there the last week of September. Friendly service. The Chalet were nice and in time will need a bit of TLC. If you want to be by the water this is the place.
Stayed for one night in a one bedroom chalet. One queen bed. Well equipped with a bbq, kitchenette with two burners, microwave, fridge, kettle and coffee maker. Mugs, glasses and wine glasses. A pot and utensils everything you would need. Bathroom is nice. Main complaint was no wifi. Lots of rules about not moving furniture, no cooking fish of any kind. Right on the water with a beautiful view. Wifi wasn’t working. We were told when we got there that it was spotty and then it wasn’t working for 2 weeks. So not sure how long it’s been down. Would recommend it if wanted to stay right in Cheticamp. Lots of options for food within walking distance. Did provide playing cards and the lady at front desk was very helpful Evette was her name.
The buildings are well-built and in good repair, but that is about it for the laurels! The grounds are very rough, with a poorly maintained road running between the motel and cabins to the neighbouring houses, with pot holes that are huge with no attempt to repair them. The grass was so long on our arrival that when it was finally cut, the clippings were blown all over the benches and the picnic tables. The aging and corroded propane BBQs are intended for RVs, are quite small and are screwed onto aging plywood platforms through various methods! Inside, the units are clean and neat, but are poorly decorated and poorly laid out. Even in the cabins, there is only a mini-fridge, a two-burner stove and an aging microwave. The dishes and utensils supplied are at a bare minimum and are of the cheapest grade available. And we won't even comment on the weak and frustrating wifi signals!…
Beautiful views and location for exploring Cape Breton. Sunset was amazing. Cute little tables outside for dining. Kitchenette small but ok for re-heating or easy things. Room is definitely dated. Front desk staff not terribly helpful or friendly. A bit pricey for what you get but you cannot beat the location for a room with a view if you are traveling through for a night.
