My husband and I travelled to Ingonish in spite of the hurricane that was forecasted. It was a great place, things were in place incase the power went off, we had the safest cabin. The owners were so friendly and helpful! And the power stayed on. Hopefully we will be returning to Skyline and do some of the trails!

I never give a 5 star but this resort deserves it. Don't get me wrong, it's not 5 star accommodations like the Ritz but it has check off all the boxes on a cozy, feel like home, atmosphere. Here we go! Check in was done quickly and efficiently. No fuss. We stayed in cottage 12 which is a self contained cottage up off the road on the last row. Everything you need to cook a meal, make coffee, relax and enjoy a lovely covered deck. The towels were premium quality. And replaced as requested. The bed was a bit hard but still slept well. I cannot recommend Skyline more! They even make sure our feathered friends are taken care of. Also, we picked Ingonish as it is a middle of the road for the Trail. We stayed 3 nights and did the Trail to Cheticamp one day. Travelled to Baddeck the next. Made the mistake of checking out Sydney.... Don't waste your time. Stay on the trail.

My family and I stayed at the Skyline Cabins recently for 2 Nights. I am born and raised in Cape Breton & still reside here, myself, my family & friends have been coming to Vacation in the Highlands Specifically Ingonish for 20+ years and have never ever experienced a place as unnerving as this. Upon driving up to the office of the cabins at check in, there is a huge sign stating quiet time is at 9:30PM which is heavily enforced,I should have you know that what they mean by quiet time is go into your cabin and either watch TV or go to sleep, which who wants to do that on a family vacation in such a gorgeous spot. We werent allowed to as much as sit on our deck and talk or whisper to one another, we weren't allowed music obviously which was fine had we been allowed to sit and enjoy a chat with eachother on our decks. Friday night one of the owner's approached us every 20 minutes from 930 until 11pm to be quiet and stop talking, again we were gathered on the step since we weren't allowed around the grounds basically day or night (that is a whole other bag of issues ) Saturday Night the other owner approached our family on our step and scolded us like children, yelled at us and said "quiet time is at 930 and WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANOTHER 12AM NIGHT" excuse me? We had just spent well over $1000 to stay there and enjoy our well earned family vacation, considering we are a respectful family all of whom either work in Healthcare or Education. There is 24hr surveillance which is understandable, however not like this .. there are huge cameras monitoring every single square inch of the place, front and back of cabins it felt like the hills have eyes or jail yard. Beautiful spot lots of great reviews not sure how, we typically book along the North bay Beach where you have beach access and are allowed bonfires (no fires allowed here either). At the end of the day we were very disrespected, we are very easy going people, we had small children of our own who slept soundly while we whispered on our deck. I have friends who had booked this cabin due to everything else being booked solid in Ingonish and they all cancelled and are heading elsewhere, I advise you all to do the same unless you are just stopping by for a sleep along the trail.

The first thing the owner said to me when exiting my vehicle was that he wasn't going to wear a mask unless he was forced to, and that he HOPED to catch COVID-19 some day. My three year old son and four year old nephew were exploring the property with my sister and had discovered a Robin's nest in the trusses of the BBQ area. They were instructed by the other owner to leave the area and told that they were not allowed to so much as look at the nest. The next day, my nephew had accidentally stepped on a mushroom that was growing out from beside our cabin while playing, and the owner confronted him directly saying "Oh no, you stepped on my poor mushrooms". Again, these were field mushrooms growing out from underneath the side of our cabin. Our final night we were accosted by one of the owners for a group of five of us sitting on our balcony and talking at 11pm. Was told that "We will not TOLERATE the 9:30PM quiet time rule being broken". I think this woman must have confused her customers with her children. Would not stay at this place again if it was the only cabin's in all of Nova Scotia.

Check in by friendly manager but a little disappointed by lack of facilities in quite small semi detached cabin. Yes there was a microwave but there were no plates or cutlery; you need to go to the restaurant across the road. We did that for dinner and the food was fine. In the cabin the bed was reasonably comfortable and the bathroom well fitted. The only problem was navigating the narrow spaces to reach the bathroom from the far side of the room in the dark. Parking is immediately in front of the cabin. A walk around the nearby freshwater lake is recommended.
