If you are looking to go on a family trip or a romantic getaway, this is the place to stay. The themed beach houses are spotless and tastefully decorated with everything you need. The pristine grounds and beautiful gardens is a place to relax and enjoy the tranquility while sitting under a pergola that overlooks a pond. On the far side of the grounds is waterfront access to Ingonish Beach, with sand and waves as far as the eye can see. Whether you want to build sand castles, go on a romantic walk or even enjoy an evening fire on the beach, Lantern Hill and Hallow has it all. For the explorers out there, within a 15 minute drive you can golf 18 holes at Cape Breton Highland Links, ranked 9th course in the country, kayak our peaceful lakes, or even hike trails with scenes of breathtaking beauty. And to top it all off, the hospitality you recieve from the owner and staff of Lantern Hill and Hallow help make your stay, a place to make memories.

WE spent 4 nights in the Moonbeamer small cottage which was very well appointed in a glorious location in a small group by the beach. This is quality accommodation with every piece of equipment you could desire.

The area is glorious with views and trails from the Cabot Trail all around and the access road easy and quiet.

Contrary to expectations, the food offering in the area does not match the standard of this accommodation. The only walkable dinner option is Crofters Table at Glenghorm which was a disappointment. Everywhere else involves a drive. The best coffee shop/breakfast was Salty Rose's Periwinkle 4 km away. The other local dining options were very ordinary apart from the Purple Thistle at Keltic Lodge where you paid appropriately for quality food. We questioned whether we should have stayed in one of their cottages and had the restaurant to hand.

Lantern Hill was a great experience. We brought in breakfast materials and other guests used the available barbecue equipment. The management seem rather distant and hands off on arrival but issues were quickly addressed. The only blemish is the absence of available quality catering which may be less important for others. We would closely consider Keltic Lodge if returning.

We stayed in the main house on the hilltop in the Great Room. Friends stayed in the room next door, the Peony Rose room. It was a little odd in that when we arrived there was no one there -- we just went inside and noted that the rooms had a little sign on the door with our last name and a key left inside. I wish we had understood that that was the case because we felt strange just going inside without someone showing us our room. All that aside, our Great Room was very nice, comfortable beds, and we had a wonderful large roofed deck. There was a gas fireplace, too, but given the warm weather we didn't use it. The facility is right on the water so a stroll on the beach is easy. Also, the landscaping was beautiful -- so well designed and maintained -- it was a pleasure to just look at it all! To get fresh towels and to have our room made up we just needed to put a basket outside the door with our used towels and hang a sign on our door asking for room service. It all went well. It is a lovely place to stay on Cape Breton.

Grounds are impeccable, room is nice and comfortable. Based on the price point, there is very little value. I would change/add a few small things to provide a better experience and possibly a little value for what you pay. You will constantly hear activity, doors slamming, people walking at all hours. Staff are not particularly welcoming and tend to ignore you.

I wish I had more than one night here because this place is one of the most beautiful places. It is located next to the beach, so bring your beverage of choice and watch the sun rise over the water, or come later and build a fire at night to watch the stars. The cottage my family and I stayed in was a very comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom which had a full kitchen, large living room, and a grill outside if you wanted to make dinner. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They also had excellent Covid safe practices too. I hope to return here again.

The Lantern Hill and Hollow offers beautiful accommodations right by the ocean. Cottages are well-equipped, and it was great listening to the sound of the ocean at night with the windows open. The location is great - so close to all the hiking on the Cabot Trail.

The only drawback is that the cottages are quite expensive. Although they're lovely, I'm not sure I find the value worth $400 a night. But if price is no concern, you'll absolutely enjoy your stay here.

We stayed here for three nights having booked it months ago. The cottages were a bit large for our needs so we booked one of the 3 “suites” in the main house. The site and communications from the owners stressed that this is a “self catering” place, which we were looking forward to. So it was with some surprise, and dismay, that we found that for this place “self catering suite” means a nice hotel room, with minimal facilities. A keurig coffee maker, an electric kettle, two mugs, and a few dishes were all we had for “self catering”, not at all what I understand from the term. I strongly encourage the owners to clarify this in their communications with people who have booked the “suites”. Otherwise this is a lovely place, great beach, and the on-site staff very helpful when contacted.

A beautiful place to stay for a few days on our lengthy driving trip in Nova Scotia. We spent two nights in the Oceania Room. A beautiful corner room with a large private balcony with a magnificent view. Lovely to begin or end the day with a walk along the beach. Room has a coffee (tea) maker and fridge with glass ware etc. Cottages below the main house looked very nice as well. Beautiful gardens on the grounds with some elegant sitting areas. Very inviting. Likely due to COVID protocols, we never encountered a single staff person. This was only an issue the first day as we had some questions and after ringing for someone as instructed it was a bit frustrating not to get a response. Otherwise, a lovely spot.

We stayed in the White Sands room at the main guest house. It was beautifully furnished and we were able to enjoy the ocean sounds from our bedroom.
Were able to walk to the beach and enjoy the water. They have a beautiful garden and sitting area around the guest house. We had a nice gas fireplace to enjoy in the living room.

The only thing I would recommend would be to provide 2 bottles of complimentary waters in the room since there are no restaurants on the property. Restaurants are only a 5 minute drive away. And maybe a fire pit by the main house.

Highly recommend staying there.

We were here for 3 nights in the Great Room. We had a private balcony overlooking the ocean. The room was well appointed and had a fridge and coffee & tea. When checking in the person was very friendly and explained what was around the area and provided information on different restaurants.
The beach is lovely to either walk along or swim. It is a quiet resort and makes relaxing in luxury easy.
Also, the puppy that lives there is adorable.
