This property is well priced for the amenities provided, it is located on the beautiful North Bay Beach, This property recently changed hands and the new owners are in the process of upgrades throughout. Although the cottages / bathrooms do need upgrades, it was clean and supplied with quality comfortable beds, linens and towels we had wi-fi, satellite TV and plenty of hot water. Our cottage had two bedrooms, each with two double beds and each room had their own bathroom and satellite TV.
The kitchen is small however it was outfitted with everything we needed and was clean. There is a picnic table outside each cottage and each site is supplied with its own barbeque.
There is a fire pit close to the beach that was well stocked with wood, I recommend you bring your own folding chairs as there were only a few at the fire pit.
There is a playground for small children.
There was a continental breakfast included with our room, the dining room was clean and the staff were pleasant.
There is a pub located in the main building, where live entertainment was provided and the food looked good. There is a coffee shop right next door that serves delicious coffee and lots of goodies. For the price of the cottages, we feel you receive lots of value. If you prefer more modern accommodation, then be prepared to pay much more.

Caper Girl, Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. It is a diamond and we are still shining it up. We do have lots of work planned for the cottages and the grounds and are optimistic we should be well prepared for next summer. We certainly hope to see you again. Thank you once more for this review. Management

This place is in the middle of updates and needs to have their price and website reflect this! Old wiring and plugs in the rooms, leaking toilet and bathroom sink, dirty rooms, outside area full of bottle caps, cigarette butts and nails. Beds on wheels that slide out from under people when trying to sit and no phone in the room for emergencies. No A/C and screens missing from windows so as not to be able to use them for a breeze without allowing bugs in.
We booked through their website and did not expect our cabin to be as dated as it was. What you see is not what you get. A note in the room told about how they were under new management since 2019 and blamed prior management for poor maintenance. This is no excuse - you took on that problem when you took over the resort. If you can't deliver then don't rent it out.
Give the room the once over (i.e. check the outlets, toilet, etc) before committing to a deluxe price for a standard cottage that should not be rented at all until much needed proper renos and safety updates are done.

Not a bad little spot. Under construction a bit and could still use some cosmetic work.

Rooms were nice and clean! Staff were very nice! A surprise continental breakfast which was nice.

Food was very good at the pub/restaurant. We couldn’t eat in the restaurant due to short staff. The pub is in the basement and is dark and damp.

A couple problems I had with this property.
It felt like staff/customers were smoking everywhere. We pulled up for dinner and there was a staff sitting right on the front step smoking. Not exactly what I want to see or smell before dinner. We then saw him down In the pub, and were mildly concerned that he was going to be cooking our food.
At our room in the Main Lodge there were ashtrays at each door and we could smell smoke from the people below us. It is my understanding that there is no smoking within 4 meters of a door or window. Please address this.

Our other issues, there was a construction crew staying which wasn’t a problem except they parked a huge work truck and trailer right by the bench that faced the ocean and blocked our view. Might be better for them to park over by the laundry building.

I think there still needs to be some work on wether this place is for couple or families and what level of luxury you plan to sell.

This motel is NOT a resort as indicated by it's name and the pictures on their website are deceiving. The room was very dated and dirty...had sand all over the floor (so obviously not swept or mopped from the last guests). I had to ask for a broom to sweep my own hotel room. A dirty towel was left under the sink from the previous people in the room (where the hairdryer is kept), the windowsill in the shower was full of dead bugs and spiders, the toilet also stopped working and the pillows smelled of old man sweat and there were dead bugs in the main windowsills too. I totally questioned the cleanliness of the entire room especially because of Covid. It's the small things that matter too- Covid or not. The condition of the whole hotel is rundown, Adirondack chairs were broken as well as an old rundown gazebo near the playground/beach area. The small white cottages looked so worn out. The only thing going for the hotel was it has a private beach. The continental breakfast was just o.k., but it was self-serve (not the best during a pandemic). The beds were very hard, but surprisingly comfortable (for me anyway). If you don't like a firm mattress you won't like the beds here. The place has huge potential and hopefully it will be updated and taken care of in the future. In the meantime, stay somewhere else. I cannot recommend this place at all. What an overpriced disapointment.

We stayed here with a family group of 16 adults and 5 children under the age of 5. We stayed in the Beach Houses which were perfect for our group. They consist of one very large accommodation upstairs with two big bedrooms and a large living space. This unit had two full bathrooms as well as a very nice deck with a wonderful view. Below this were three one bedroom walkout units. Each with a smaller veranda like area and nice size bedroom with full bath. Each unit comes equipped with a bar style fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and dishes and utensils. All units also have their own full size barbecue and picnic table They all have pullout sofas as well.
There is a nice grassy area and a playground and a beautiful sandy beach on this property. Fire pit is available and they have firewood to purchase. We had our campfire on the beach one night and at the pit near the playground the next
There is a restaurant and pub on site. We had takeout food one evening for supper and it was very good with generous portions. We also enjoyed being able to have the free breakfast each morning which was self serve and consisted of fresh fruit, bread and bagels for toasting, muffins, cold cereals in individual size boxes, coffee, tea and a variety of juices.
Our accommodations were very clean, screens were in all windows and air conditioning units functioned great. We had no issues. We could also see that renovations are ongoing as new owners purchased this property in 2020.
All of the families in our group liked the location and accommodations so much that we have booked the same units for 2022 😊

Just spent 5 days and 4 nights here. To be honest, the reviews on here had me a bit worried but the space we had (oceanfront cottage) was great and with my expectations set at the right spot we had an amazing time.

The site overall is quite large, with an amazing beach and that was truly the focus for us and the kids. Swimming constantly and we took our sit on top kayaks and it was easy to get in and out. A really great beach asset and a great price for being literally "on it".

There are a series of motel buildings that are clearly in various states of repair and refurbishment ... we didn't stay in those. We stayed in a stand alone cottage that was fully stocked and easy to sleep a family of five (with one of us on the fold out couch). The cottages were likely built in the 60s or 70s and the upgrades have been put into the things that matter first (bathroom / appliances / bedding / windows). We were able to load up on groceries and cook full meals for our family and another family of 5 that we travelled with (staying in another cottage) every day in the kitchen and with the BBQ.

The complimentary continental breakfast was as expected and a nice break from cooking.

The staff accommodated everything we asked for, they were all amazing. We returned our own dirty towels and got new ones each day ... the wifi was weak, but were on vacation so who cares when you are on that beach ... again, set expectations at the right place.

The added bonus of a shared play area for the kids with soccer balls, volley balls, hammocks, dodgeballs and frisbees was great and somewhere where our kids could meet all the other kids staying there and play on their own.

Finally, the beach front fire pit is available for use by anyone but was well built and able to handle a big fire every night.

Kudos to the new owners for working through the upgrades, we will be back int the future to see the progress.

For starters, the current ownership took over back in June/July, and the previous ownership seems to have intentionally tried to run the place into the ground, letting stuff get trashed, closing the bar, closing the dining room for several years and leaving it unmaintained.
So they started with a bad hand.
But we could tell that the new management cares about actually running a good resort, and is working on it. Sad this has to be the pandemic year, I can tell they're having trouble getting enough folks to work there - all the staff we saw were running themselves ragged.

Food is fantastic in the dining area, though the air conditioning wasn't working. That's what you get with a neglected facility. I imagine they'll have that fixed before next year. The one guy serving everyone and apparently also making desserts probably lost a hundred pounds this summer.

All the staff were very approachable and would go out of their way to help someone out when asked, even with so much on their plate. In particular, I received "above and beyond" level of service from Alice and Paulette.

The owner himself made himself available to help folks, and was very friendly and kind. Again, you can tell he really cares about turning the place into somewhere better.

It's a really nice spot. Basically has its own beach (needs stairs) and a good spot for a bonfire, and it's pretty close to a lot of good stuff in the ingonish area.

Overall, we had a fantastic time, even with stuff being somewhat dated (though the CRT tv was a nice throwback) and the earwigs that showed up during our stay.

This place is gonna take a lot of work and manpower, but it seems to have people who care, so I'd love to see what this looks like next year.

Might I suggest exit surveys in the rooms? Might be a great way to take the most common ideas and concerns, then you could action those first!

We stayed in a garden room here and there were a number of issues. The first was that their website has been very cleverly done so that it looks amazing but is not how it seems. the garden and ocean view motel rooms do not have a garden or an ocean view and in fact the garden rooms overlook a road! The room itself is tatty, the bathroom had hairs in the shower and tics on the floor. the toilet was leaking and the batteries were missing in the smoke alarm. The breakfast is awful, they should not bother to offer it as free, it would be better to charge and do a great breakfast or not bother. There is also a lovely cafe next door to the motel so use that. There were also no fire pits as advertised on the site and the beach access was difficult as the steps are blocked off. I understand that they are new management and covid but i think enough time as passed and Would suggest shutting rooms that need the work and getting them done quickly rather than charging for them when they are not acceptable.

I have not yet stayed at the Glenghorm Beach Resort but I am already very happy with their customer service! Kathy noticed that my booking.com reservation had mistakes in it, and called me personally this morning to give me options so that my reservation could be processed. Many businesses would have ignored this third-party booking site issue and I would have been left without a place to stay. Thank you Glenghorm for being proactive about this!

Hurricane Fiona hit the beach and cottages here but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Property has relatively new ownership and they're working diligently to renovate all rooms. Think it'll be a shining jewel when they're done.
One caution: Our room didn't yet have safety grab bars in shower so if you need them be sure to check this specifically before booking.

Our TV remote wasn't working when we tried it at 11 pm. Called desk and lady whose shift had just finished came right down to check it. She then made a 2nd trip to bring batteries, install them and check to ensure everything worked.

Our dinner in main dining room was great.

Can't say enough about the staff here
Everyone made us feel so very welcome.
