Beautifully appointed house (c. 1886) with generous sized guestrooms each with its own balcony/veranda. Situated in the very center of town and close walking distance to restaurants and the Louisbourg Playhouse (music hall). Access to kitchen (non-cooking) with refrigerator, tea/coffee, ice etc. Breakfast served at our sister property, the Louisbourg Harbour Inn.
We chose the Louisbourg Heritage House because we love historical homes, and it did not disappoint. It really is as pretty as the photographs, well and thoughtfully furnished in period specific furniture and art. We found most everything to be fresh and functional despite the age. A few niggles: we were a little late arriving due to road construction, and the hosts were not there - our registration instructions consisted of post-it notes. However, with the assistance of some fellow guests, we sorted out rooms, keys, etc. and settled in. Note for the owner – none of the fans worked. Breakfast was served in another heritage B&B across the street (at this time of the season, having two chefs for reduced crowds would be logistically crazy) and was a pleasant surprise. Although it appeared to be far too large, we were presented with assorted fresh fruit (including wild blueberries) crepe, sausages and fresh cheddar scones. The crepe proved to be light, with a delicious fruit reduction sauce and was exactly the right portion to start the day. The server was a friendly Cape Bretoner, who was happy to share culinary secrets and sent us on our way with the rest of the fresh scones for lunch - very kind. We would stay again when we have more time to appreciate the amenities and location.…

The Louisbourg Heritage House bnb is well situated right in the middle of the small town in a lovely old house just minutes from the harbour. We stayed in the Logan room which was clean and comfortable if not as big as some of the other rooms we noticed. I liked that we were able to make ourselves pots of tea in the kitchen next door. Pretty much the only restaurant in town (the very delicious Spoondrift) is right across the street and both the fort and lighthouse are a short drive away. A few things which would improve peoples' stay at this bnb: as many people have mentioned in their reviews, when one checks in you don't actually meet the hosts, but a key and letter is left for you. We would have appreciated a phone number or way to actually get in touch with the hosts in case of need (eg at one point we had trouble with the door of our room ). Also, although some visitors have enjoyed the pop omelette with sausage breakfast, we (who, like some others, did not) would have appreciated having some choice, even if just toast or eggs, Breakfast hours were 8-9 am with check out by 10:30, so for those who might want to sleep in the breakfast hours were also quite restrictive. Overall a good stay with tweaks needed to make it perfect!…

We stayed here for 3 nights, the last to weather hurricane Dorian. We had the “Matthew” loft suite which was enormous. Parker is a wonderful host and is very accommodating. Breakfasts were served in the other b&b and were large & delicious. We were glad to be in this old house through the hurricane as it weathered it well. We loved our stay and highly recommend.

We had a very enjoyable two-night stay here in August. The two breakfasts we had were truly outstanding. We're still thinking about the fabulous scones and creative egg dishes Parker and his team put out. Our server, Veronica, was terrific and completed the trifecta package: accommodation, food and service.

We stayed for 1 night in the pretty village of Louisbourg. The Good. 1. Great location on the middle of town and easy walk to restaurants and the Playhouse. 2. The building looks pretty. 3. The rooms are actually good. The beds are comfortable and it was clean. There is a seating area and we had a great verandah. 4. The owner was pleasant and helpful at check in The Bad. 1. No-one lives in the house and it feels a bit soulless. Breakfast is also served in the other property the owners have down the street. 2. Everything feels a little tired. The pain is flaking off the building and the bathroom was very dated although the shower worked ok. The garden was also a bit overgrown. 3. The Wi-Fi was pretty slow and there was no TV. The sitting room seemed more dated than period. 4. The breakfast was disappointing and a bit chaotic. It is only served between 8 and 9am in the next property and serves for both hotels. The result was a long wait for breakfast as they ran out of tables. There was also no-one to greet me and so I ended up having to going into the kitchen find someone. It would make sense to have a more extended period for breakfast. The food was slow coming. There was a cranberry scone-ok and a pop over with 2 sausages. It looked pretty and the fruit and sausages were good but I am not a big fan of sweet and savoury combos. The coffee was pretty bland too. Overall The place was fine for the night but not overly inspiring. It looks like it is a bit faded and could do with a makeover as it could be great. I would probably choose somewhere else if returning to the area…

The Louisbourg Heritage Inn blew my expectations out of the water! Our room, the Draper, was larger than expected with a sweet sitting area, super comfortable queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom with jetted tub and shower (great water pressure too!) the balcony off our room offered a stunning view of Louisbourg and it’s harbour. Ice, coffee, many tea options, as well as milk and cream were available on site. Breakfast took the cake! Today was fresh baked cranberry cheddar scones and coffee or tea when you first arrived (located at their sister property, Louisbourg Harbourview Inn) followed by a peach blueberry popover with breakfast sausages! Breakfast fir for a king! I would stay here again based on breakfast alone! Just minutes away from all their is in Louisbourg. We will be back!…

We stayed three nights in this very lovely Victorian-era house. Parker was a wonderful host and cooked a superb breakfast for us. Naturally the fortress is an inevitable must...but don't miss out on the wonderful trail at the lighthouse and some very nice dining...ask Parker, he can give you some good tips. Our room was fantastic, with a huge bed and small seating area (useful in case it rained...but it didn't!) and a small deck in front.

We were in Louisbourg for 4 days for a family wedding and we occupied the entire house. We were the first guests of the season and the place was spotless. Our room on the third floor was enormous and so comfortable! We had a delicious full breakfast served each morning by the lovely Louise, with homemade muffins and scones on the side. It was a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Heritage House September 14 & 15. Everything was lovely. Second floor queen bed. Private bath.. comfortable bed. Everything was neat and tidy.. The weather was fabulous so we were able to enjoy the large deck right outside our room.. The third floor deck has a view of the Fortress Louisbourg. Breakfast was awesome!!! We we’ll be back.
