Oh, the dirt road was long, but at the end, the place was amazing. I envied the owner for being able to live in such a beautiful place between the hills, with big trees and a river running by. If we were in the area a couple weeks later (we were there in mid. Sept.), we could even see the... More

Even if you don't fish, these cabins although very modest, are located in a beautiful setting. Challenging to get to (follow signs, don't rely on GPS) but worth the drive on dirt road. Bring bug repellent although little flies didn't bite. Fire pit available. Scenery is beautiful especially in the fall.

We stayed for two nights and were very thankful for the accommodations provided by the lodge. The cabins are located along the Margaree River. The owners are very nice, first by opening up our cabin and keeping the light on when we called to say we'd be arriving very late, and then later on by moving a fridge into our... More

As you wind your way down the dirt/gravel road to get to this fishing lodge, you might wonder what you've gotten yourself into but the long drive is worth it. The location is beautiful and very secluded. The owners are wonderful--friendly and helpful no matter what your interests are...fishing, golf, touring Cabot Trail, etc. The food in the dining room... Not many places you travel to in Nova Scotia and not have cell phone serivce. Big Intervale Fishing Lodge is about a half hour drive over dirt roads to reach the loge. But it is well worth the drive! The setting is really spectular! The lodge is located in a beautifl valley and the river is right in front of... More

We stayed here 3 nights in between golf destinations. Located at the dead end of a 15 km dirt road. The lodge is next to a river and at the bottom of some mountains. Even if you don't fish, bring some reading material and unplug for a couple of days. The lodge is operated by the owners, and after a... More

This is an awesome lodge to go to if you want to fish and get away from everything. It's about 25 minutes off the south Cabot trail, and 20 of those minutes are going along a dirt road. DO NOT USE GPS TO FIND THIS once you are off the Cabot trail; follow the signs. It's along East Big Intervale... More

My husband has stayed here a couple times while on motorcycling trips with his friends and really enjoyed it- I went along this time to check it out. It was as promised- great! ...very far off the beaten path, which was welcomed by me because I was looking forward to a peaceful escape. The location was beautiful-set within a valley... More

We could only stay for one night there but would have stayed longer if schedule permitted. The cabin we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The property was lovely right beside a stream. We had an excellent breakfast there which kept us fed all day! Ruth and Herman were wonderful hosts. We will visit again......longer next time.

Our group of eight spent three nights at Big Intervale. The location is in a pretty valley along the river and feels very quiet and retreated. The rooms are clean and bright each with a small bathroom. We had wifi but no cell service while there but that was probably a good thing! The owners, Ruth and Hermann, are welcoming... More
