Not only is the place absolutely charming but the hosts are so gracious and the breakfasts so delicious that I encourage anyone visiting the wine region of Nova Scotia to make this their destination! Atention to detail throughout with spotless, well appointed rooms and a cozy "collective" living room area adjacent to the breakfast room makes you feel like you are home. We walked to the neighboring Domaine de Grand Pre winery where we had a scrumptious dinner at LeCaveaux and walked back to the inn at twilight with the glow of several antique lanterns lighting our path. It is truly a magical place! Take a 5 minute stroll through the vines to the Acadian monument nearby for a nice view of the valley.

From the minute you walk through the door into this gracious, cozy, old world dwelling to the moment you must leave, you are made to feel respectfully welcome by Des and Adri. We have returned several times to experience the peace of beautifully appointed clean rooms overlooking the vineyards and Cape Blomidon, and to indulge in freshly cooked to order breakfasts of fresh fruit and local offerings. Lots to see and do in the area, but a stay at Olde Lantern is a vacation in itself.

What to say about this place? Well, this is our second time staying at Desmond and Adrianna’s B&B and it did not disappoint us again. My husband and I love the peace that they offer. We love the fact that we can sit outside in the evening to enjoy a glass of wine and look at the nice view of the vineyard while the sun sets. The room is super comfortable and extremely clean. They offer water in the room, but also ask everyday if there’s anything we need. Every morning they offer the most tasteful breakfast. If you love French toast well you’ve never had French toast like these ones. So delicious!!!! Now let’s talk about Desmond and Adrianna!!!! They great you at the door like if you are family. This couple is so interesting to talk too. There travels, work and experiences through out the years make for wonderful conversations. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Desmond and Arianna are lovely and very personable! The Inn is in a beautiful location and a 7 minute walk out back will present you with a postcard view of Grand Pre and Blomidon. The bed was comfortable. However, If you are a light sleeper, do not book the ‘Wine Cellar,’ as you can hear everything from the room upstairs. That was a huge disappointment. The room was comfortable but the decor was mediocre and should be more reflective of the period of the Inn and environs. There are no amenities in the rooms except for a couple of bottles of water. If you are a person who enjoys an early coffee or an herbal tea before you retire, there is no provision for that. This is the first B&B where we have had that experience. However, unless these negatives are game changers, I recommend you check it out.

The Old Lantern Inn is like a piece of paradise. The location is perfect, Desmond and Adriana are the perfect hosts, making you feel are home from the moment you meet them. The fine dining (in my opinion) breakfast is beautifully presented and of the freshest quality. We were in the Wine Cellar room and it is beautifully decorated and cozy. The grounds are blooming with flowers and shrubs along with surrounding vineyard. This is definately a perfect choice when staying in the area. Thank you Desmond and Adriana for the lovely weekend! We will be back

My husband and I were accommodated to stay at this welcoming and cozy bed and breakfast, due to unforeseen complications caused by the weather, on Valentine's day. Wonderful hosts Adriana and Desmond saved the day!

The room they prepared for us was more than we could have hoped for. It was warm, romantic, spacious, comfortable, decorated in a way that felt like home. It was perfect for what we needed. They were so helpful and caring, and it felt like we were visiting friends. We had engaging conversations and shared good laughs; they are a very interesting couple with interesting stories to tell. Breakfast was scrumptious and we loved the country style kitchen. I took so many photos!! We definitely want to return in a different season where it will be warmer, and we can enjoy sitting outside and drink wine, while taking in the views of such a beautiful area. This place is a treasure, and the experience we felt was gratifying because we appreciate little things, and simplicity. I wish our stay would've been longer, and we look forward to returning. We absolutely recommend this place. We are so grateful for the turn of events because it was meant to be, and because of it, we discovered a new place to call home, away from home.

Thank you

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The inn’s location can’t be beat among the vines, with a beautiful viewpoint steps away and proximity to Le Caveau, the town, wineries and more. We were very comfortable in the cozy wine cellar room with our own entrance. Our hosts were very welcoming and gracious and the breakfasts were excellent! Highly recommend this stay for anyone visiting the area.

Lovely rustic inn and very comfortable accommodations. The bed was sooo comfy and the room quiet . The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We were given lots of suggestions for dinner in Wolfville and you can walk behind the inn ( about 3 mins) to the Landscape of Grand Pre view park. It is a 5 min drive from Wolfville and close to area tourist sites.
Breakfast was delicious! Would definitely stay here again.

We highly recommend the Olde Lantern Inn. Des and Adriana are superb hosts who provide awesome breakfasts and take great care in catering to our food allergies. Their location is fabulous for visiting wineries, wonderful seafood and great scenery.

We've now stayed there 3 times and have booked a 4th for 2025.

We had a lovely stay with Desmond and Adriana. Breakfast was the best we’ve had on our trip and they were so thoughtful. Desmond actually went and physically lit individual candles in the lanterns to the vineyard to guide our way back after dinner - what a thoughtful touch! We were so grateful. Thoroughly recommend.

Grand Pre, Canada
Good day John, Thank you for your enquiry about our B&B. We serve a hot breakfast to our guests in the morning and have a few suggestions for dining out in the evening. We are approximately three kms from the village of Wolfville where there are a number of brew pubs for a light meal, the Privet House for fine dining and Troys which is a Turkish/Mediterranean style restaurant. We can also highly recommend the La Caveau restaurant at the Grand Pre winery, which is literally 5mins walk, through the vineyards from the B&B. I sincerely hope these suggestions will be helpful and that we can host you in June. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards Des and Adriana
