Spent 2 nites here. Older campground, nice family owners. Old facilities, office and Rec area were pretty messy. Clean washrooms. Our site was gravel over grass and somewhat level. Getting out of the coach was tricky bc there were a few low spots. 30amp svs was on the low side. We couldn’t run our AC bc it kept tripping the breaker. The view from our site was nice! Not sure I’d come back tho. It’s a bit out of the way.

Hi there! Thank you so much for staying with us. We appreciate your feedback on your stay as well, We are currently in the process of upgrading our power this season and we apologize for the mess as we were currently in the middle of doing our inventory in preparations for the upcoming Christmas in July and Halloween in August which are our two big events at the campground. I just want to say first and foremost how kind, generous, fun and helpful the owners of this campground are. Their family and other guests were so welcoming and sweet. I had an absolute blast here in August. The location was awesome, the wilderness camp sites were so cool, nestles between awesome hiking trails and the beach. We happened to get a really great night with not many people so we had the whole area with just one other couple. The main house was really need with treats and classic arcade games and the pool was great, LOVED he fireworks display they do each Saturday., so much fun. The family was very down to earth and fun to hang out with and Id love to come back next year. The cabins looked cool also! Definitely a must have summer spot! so many regulars and campers. The views and tides were incredible. CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR :D

I stayed at Fundy View with my elderly mother and my two granddaughters aged 8 and 2. We rented one of the cottages for a weekend. We had a grand time! Lots to keep the little ones busy. The cottage had everything needed, full kitchen with all the dishes, pots and pans, utensils etc,a gas barbecue, bedding, towels, it was all there. Great not to have to lug that all along! The campground needs a little TLC but for the most part everything was fine. The pool offers hours of fun and it is in good shape and is kept clean. The playground needs some care but the girls enjoyed it. The beach is a 3 minute walk away with lots of great ocean front exploring to enjoy! It was Christmas in July weekend and the kids were thrilled with the visit from Santa and Mrs. CLaus, the slip & slide was tremendous fun and the evenings fireworks were great! All and all we had a fun weekend and will definitely be going back again!

I rarely write reviews and I certainly do not want to hurt a family business, but I wish I had more information about this place before we committed.
We booked 3 nights in a cabin based on the website. The photos on the website are misleading and when we arrived, were assigned Cabin 7. In reality, there was only 1 picture of that actual cabin and it was of the bathroom! (We did not know prior to arrival which cabin we were assigned.)
Walking into the cabin, we were shocked. It smelled (?mold), the unit was old and not well maintained. There was NO internet, cell service. The TV was only to play DVDs.
We realized quickly that this was not going to work for us and headed down to the reception cabin. Jim, the manager, did explain that the cabins were old, but they were cleaned and maintained by their cleaning crew.
Nonetheless, Jim did understand and appreciated our situation and did help to facilitate us getting a hotel room in Digby for the night. (Very expensive due to last minute booking and minimal availability!) Jim was very kind and indicated that this is a family business.
In fairness, I have booked travels via websites for 8 weeks of traveling. This was the only time the website was misleading and the unit was not represented.

We stayed in Cottage 6: No A/C, no wi-fi which we knew but the floors were rotten in several spots, only had a mini fridge missing a shelf and not able to keep things very cold, very small sink, hot plate- no stove, screen on door kept falling off, paint peeling etc . We were only there for 2 nights to take our grandson to Upper Clements and we got along fine but were surprised at how much the property was in disrepair.

I'm told new owners took it over less than a month, but I don't think they understand what they are doing yet and still in the learning process (as they should be). Once arriving after an over 5 hour drive, they didn't explain until ask which way to go for our campsite, seems they assumed we knew. We constantly had to ask questions like check out time, where bathroom was, pool hours, canteen hours, and what not. They didn't seem to be to free with knowledge . Bathrooms were always plugged, or water all over floor. Canteen was stocked with few items, I forgot bread as I wanted to get for the AM, it cost $4.00 and was outdated. This campsite seemed to have NO RULES, people were LOUD all hours (groups beside us drank and sang till 3 AM), and walked around with beer. Once we complained, we felt they took off as we got close (we felt they didn't believe us). They claimed to have WIFI at the canteen but it seemed to come and go. No cell service either. Campsites weren't to big at all, everyone was just about in everyone else's lot. Not to mention someone needs to go thru with weed wacker so you can get to the outlets. Place could really use an update BIG TIME. Golf course wasn't in to good of shape. Wharf just down hill was run down big time, more like hazardous, beach there, was more like a rock garden hard to walk on, even with shoes.

Campground was a gem. Nice and quiet, a place to get away-from-it-all. We enjoyed the rugged beauty of the beach. It was great for exploring. The owners were working hard the whole time we were there. Super friendly. Free hot showers are always good. A bonus for us was the sunset. Wow!

The campground itself is very nice to look at but the cottages itself was horrible! As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with the smell of cat urine. The couch has stains on it, the floors were all dirty and the lamps had dead flies stuck to them. I felt like I was in a horror movie....never going back!

Now that I am back home I really need to express my disappointment in the
services at this establishment. Firstly, we were booked for cottage number 1 on Saturday, August 23rd for 3 nights. We drove 7 hours from our home in Cape Breton to get here, being very exited for our staycation and celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. When we got there at around 1 pm we noticed people on the deck of our cottage we were booked for and the bbq being used with coolers around it and a handful of people. I wanted to check in but the office was locked and no cell service to call. I finally tracked someone down that worked there. I asked him why there was people using our cottage. He let me know that this weekend was Halloween weekend and they were having a BBQ for the campground and they were using our cottage for the BBQ but that it would be ready for us to check in at 3 pm. So we went off to have a bite to eat at the CROWS NEST which is about 10 minutes from the campground ( Food, service was awesome, definitely go there if you want a great meal and reasonably priced too) We returned to the Campground at 2:45 pm to see that the people and the BBQ was still set up at our cottage. I decided I was going to go into the office to check in. I had noticed that my cell phone didn't have service. When I was in the process of checking in when I asked if there was cell service here. The gentleman said there is no cell service anywhere in the area (may be able to get a bar under the basketball net just outside the office parking lot. So then I said that I presume then that there is at least wifi in our cottage (i have unlimited data so I figured I can at least used the wifi to use my phone). He informed me that there was no wifi or cell phone service anywhere on the property(except very poor wifi outside the main office building). When I express my concern about this to him, I was made feel like my concerns of not having access to wifi or cell service was nonsense. I expressed to him that I run a business and need access to some form of internet and that my kids need to contact me in case of emergency. He laughed and said this is one of the things most people love about this place, that they can disconnect from the outside world. I was very upset. The only thing he said to me was that if I decide not to stay, he won't charge my credit card because he can resell in the blink of an eye. I then told him I have to go outside and talk to my husband . While outside I tried getting service under the basketball net so that I could at least call to stay somewhere else but couldn't get service. So I had to go back in and ask if I could use his phone. He let me use it to call a place a full 45 minute drive away where they would have at least cell service. I left there crying and my experience here ruined the rest of my staycation. Nowhere on their website does it inform people that you have no access to the internet or cell phone except at the office building. If this information was on their website, we could have at least known ahead of time and wouldn’t have booked there. And on top of that, I spoke three times on the phone to two of their workers before we came about our reservation and no one ever mentioned that there was no wifi or cell phone service. We own an accommodations business and I am also a travel agent and know that this kind of information is very important to relay to your guests. This has been the worse experience I’ve had in a very long time and the worse service from front desk and we travel a lot. I have even sent them a private message about this before posting on here thinking that they may even offer an apology for the misunderstanding but received nothing. So if you need to keep in contact with the rest of the world, even if someone needs to contact you in case of an emergency, definitely do not go here. It's like you've disappeared off the face of the earth but if that is what you're looking for then this is the place for you. VERY UPSETTING AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. We ended up staying at Upper Clements Cottages and RV Park in their RV rental. It was exceptional.

Response from James Buie, Owner at Fundy Trail Campground and Cottages
Responded Aug 27, 2020
Wow, we are both surprised and disappointed with this review of our campground and customer service . This is a long review so I will address each point as it occurs in the message. The check in time for our cottages is 3pm what happens at 1pm or 2:30 pm is usually cleaning and preparation for arrivals at 3pm. Cottage one was prepped the night before and was ready for your arrival. In this specific case we were having a halloween event for camping families and more importantly children who dressed for trick or treating. We also had a barbeque of hotdogs for the kids to enjoy which took place at cottage one as it is the largest barbeque on site. All this took place well before check in time at 3pm. Our hours of canteen operation is clearly listed on our front door and show we are open from 10am to 12noon then 3pm to 9pm. We are a family run campground with many tasks at hand around the property. The barbeque was cleaned and ready to use by 2:30pm so your comment about this was inaccurate. This next part of your review is repeatedly presumed or assumed levels of service for WIFI and Cellular service. We have the very best wifi service available to us from xplornet and I check our downloads and uploads on a regular basis from speedtest.net with a recent average of 36.80 mbps download and 1.57mbps upload which is very respectable for the valley area. We always tell people our wifi is within the canteen and surrounding deck area as we have 16 acres and cannot provide wifi to all corners of our property. Our Cell coverage is poor at best and coming from Cape Breton you must understand that this is the reality everywhere. You make mention that i did not take you seriously. This is not the case and my only moment of levity was explaining that most people appreciate the opportunity to have a level of disconnection while enjoying a few days of vacation. I did not laugh or suggest that your concerns were not important. Actually I was the one who volunteered to call local cottage owners to find you a cottage nearby that provided the services you wished to have. I made the call and passed the phone on to you to confirm things.I can verify this chain of events if needed. Once you made the confirmation with the cottage owner for your accommodation you thanked me for being understanding and for contacting our competitor to get you accommodation with the services you needed. Yes, we agree that I did not charge you a last minute cancellation charge which is in our terms of agreement. The most surprising thing about this is that you are in the hospitality industry serving guests and clients just like we do and yet you decide to present an altered reality of the chain of events to support your dissatisfaction. We wish you and your business at Cabot Trail vacations and cottages every success.
