I checked in around five on a Saturday, and the cèilidh was already going. Over three hours the party went, with elder locals cramming tables and welcoming tourists into conversation. Great food, we got two different kinds of nachos (it was National Nacho Day, after all), steak frites, and fish n chips. Great local craft beers. Once the live music stopped, over the evening the crowd changed to a younger locals crowd, half the age of the prior set. A sight to behold, this place is popular among and good for anyone of any age. Later on, we grabbed some local wine from the on-site store and site-made choclate from the on-site chocolatier before retiring to the room, past a few youth still up around midnight playing basketball on a lit court. The view in the morning from the balcony (all rooms have them on the second floor, the first floor has walk out doors with porches) is beyond stunning. Fridge in the room, television is solely streaming (no cable), but that is not why you're there. Love this place, worth the hours drive, especially for the Saturday matinee. Also this is Nova Scotia, so we have very few restrictions right now, so most of the questions Trip Advisor asked don't apply here (you can't get into the province if you aren't vaccinated against COVID).…
We arrived between 3:00 and 3:30 on a weekday. When you pull up, be mindful that there is no signage directing you to the office. Have the phone number of the Inn handy; the entrance next to the bar is the actual entrance to the Inn and when I went up to the door it was locked. Our cellphone reception was spotty so we walked down to the liquor store and asked how can we contact the front desk. Eventually we were able to check in. The room was fine, you can tell that some renovations had been done. Be careful if more than one person sits on the end of a bed, ours flipped up. There's no phone in the room to call the front desk, which worried me. If I needed to dial 911 when my cell had no reception I would be in a bit of a bind. Our room had a ductless heat pump mounted high up on the wall. A remote controlled the heat pump. There's a large LED display on the heat pump that you can turn off, we left it on and used it as a night light. We enjoyed the ambiance of the bar and staff were really friendly.…
We stayed here while driving the Cabot Trail. We were pleasantly surprised by the live music in the bar attached to the restaurant. The hotel was clean and the rooms have a fantastic view. The hotel is pretty out of the way for the Cabot Trail, but it’s still worth a stay.
Stayed here this past weekend with some cousins. Wonderful place to stay if you’ve never been to Cape Breton! They make you feel right at home. A girl named Grace was at the front desk and she was so helpful. Her name really fits. We decided to stay an extra night because we loved it so much. Thank you all!
Spent a night there in late June, A great place to visit. Room was quite nice . Views of the Bras D'or lakes are amazing. The Pub is a must. We were treated to a surprise visit by an elderly Gaelic singer and his Grandson. The song they sang was awesome. He had a wonderful voice as did his Grandson. Staff are excellent as was the food.
