Fisherman's Daughter B&B is located between 2 of the 3 churches in Mahone Bay. It is close to many restaurants & small shops, with lots to see and do, or just relaxing in the chairs on the property, taking in the beauty. We were welcomed at the B&B as soon as we arrived by Bruce, our very friendly & informative host. The home is beautiful, rooms are equipped with your own 3 piece washroom, fridge, tv, chairs, air conditioner. It was the perfect spot for our besties spa trip ! Thanks Bruce & Lisa for all the recommendations and a relaxing stay! We will be back !

We went to Fisherman's Daughter for 3 nights. This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and won't be the last. The room was so cozy and cute, the location is perfect for walking through Mahone Bay. We will definitely be back!!

From the moment we arrived at Fisherman’s Daughter (all 8 of us) we were made to feel special. The home is lovely, with so many thoughtful touches. The rooms were all nicely decorated. Beautiful location & great service. Breakfast was truly memorable. Bruce & Lisa are excellent hosts! I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. Thanks for the great stay! Situated between two historic churches and set back from the waterfront, this historic building offered us a fun stay in suitably decorated Captain's Quarters. Our hosts were keen to provide all we needed including fresh milk and dinner recommendations. Breakfast was excellent, starting with fresh fruit and then baked treats warm from the oven, followed by the signature "whale" cooked dish. It was within easy walking distance of all of Mahone Bay.

Hurricane Dorian didn’t dampen the hospitality of Bruce and Lisa even without power! The Cap’t s quarters were amazing and tastefully appointed! The bathroom was amazing too! The food was delicious! We even received a discount on bike rentals when we said we were staying there! Situated between two old white churches with a view of the water , we enjoyed the warmth of the fluffy blankets available at the door as we sat in the brightly colored Adirondack chairs out front! A true great B&B experience rounded off with them packing my forgotten items and sending them back to me! I would recommend this for the travelers who want either a quiet romantic stay to the ones who are eager to experience the local scene with some friendly folks!

Mahone Bay is a beautiful town and Fisherman's Daughter is a good place to stay when you visit. The house is nicely restored and rooms are comfortable. It was hot when we were there and A/C worked fine. Our hosts were very kind in their accommodation of my dairy free diet.

I'll start with the positives: The location is fabulous, the house is lovely and Bruce is a wealth of information. The negatives: Two inch bolts stick out from the front screen door and my travel companion was nailed in the arm when the door struck him as he was bringing in our bags. The wound was significant and required multiple bandage changes over the next few days. The bolt's need to be sawed off or covered..they are dangerous. The owners seemed less than concerned. We came back to our room at the end of the day and the bed was not made up, the full wastebasket was not emptied and the towels not changed. I had to request fresh towels. The basket was emptied the next day. The bed however, was never made. Also the bottom sheet would not stay in place. The main course for breakfast was the same each day (we were there 3 days). The signature dish (poached egg on hash brown potatoes and ham) was nice once, but not 3 times in a row. Other guests who had been there when we arrived stop eating it. It was the only protein available other than yogurt. Each day it was presented with a flourish as their "signature dish". Nothing else was offered. The 3rd day was a bit awkward around the table as 3 of us turned it down and the others wanted to know if there was something wrong with it. Pastries were a mix of freshly baked (nicely done) and commercial. The cereals nothing special. I have stayed at numerous B&Bs over the years and have found the breakfast main course to be different every day: it's a part of the B&B experience. I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation. I expect a full breakfast when I'm paying for one..... We stayed at 2 other B&Bs subsequent to this one and both had outstanding breakfast menu offerings.

Response from Bruce C, Owner at Fisherman's Daughter
Responded Aug. 25, 2019
As a B&B owner it is always difficult to know how to respond to an inaccurate slanderous review. How to present the facts without sounding too defensive. Suffice to say there are always two sides to every story. We work extremely hard to create a beautiful and safe environment for our guests. We had no idea that your boyfriend had cut himself on our door. That was never verbalized to us. We thought he cut his arm on your car. Regardless, we immediately provided band-aids, hydrogen peroxide and polysporin ointment but maybe you forgot that. To say that we were less than concerned is a misstatement. We have notes in the room that identify if you want fresh towels to let us know. We are environmentally conscious and we do not automatically put in fresh towels unless asked or someone is staying more than three days. When you asked we happily provided fresh towels as we always do. If you read your room description from the website in which you booked through, it states we provide an "Enhanced Continental Breakfast with our Optional Signature Egg Dish “The Whale””. Sorry if you misread or misunderstood that. Our Enhanced Continental Breakfast consists of fresh cut fruit, fresh warm pastries, yogurt, 5 different cold cereals, tea/coffee, orange and apple juice (or pomegranate), toast and bagels, cream cheese and jams. For some this is enough. But we always have the Signature dish available for those who want more. During your stay we had people there for seven days and four days. Your comment that nothing else was offered is simply false. We always offer a poached egg on toast if someone does not want the “Whale”. The signature dish is a big portion for some people and they may prefer to stick with continental or something smaller. You have decided to react since we would not cut up salmon for you on the 3rd morning. You barged into the kitchen as we were preparing breakfast and expected us to drop everything so you could have salmon. If you had asked us the night before that might have been possible. As it was, we did say it could be done but after the others had been served. You have chosen to act out when you didn’t get your way. We know we cannot get it perfect all the time but we certainly try to. And we also realize there are some people that cannot be pleased no matter what we do. That being said, we are very proud of all the other reviews that have rated us 5*!
