Stayed here while on motorcycle trip around NS. Staff was professional and friendly. Rooms were clean and well laid out albeit a bit dated. Our only negative was that one of the chairs should be replaced. This is an older motel so don't expect a modern, new room. It is clean , comfortable and a good size. Gift shop had lots of extras you might need on a road trip and we really appreciated the guest laundry facilities. The restaurant was very good and serves the area, not just the hotel. We stayed waterside with gravel parking but there were concrete kick stand supports which made motorcycle parking easy and secure. Located just off the causeway to Cape Bretton Island. Gas, restaurants and a Tim Hortons just 5 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely staff and excellent location. We were there for 1 night as our goal was to travel the Cabot Trail. Our room smelled a little musky but nothing we couldn’t overcome. Our friends were in a separate room and did not have an issue with he musky smell. We would return to this location in our travels.

The whole family went out for supper last night and most of the meals looked delicious. The ones who had salmon said it was dry, mine was certainly dry in fact it was a bit burned. My side dish of salad was delicious and the staff was excellent!!

We stayed here this week.We have been staying here for more than 32 years. It has always been a lovely place to stay till now. Covid caused the dining room to shut down after three weeks of operation. That is nobody’s fault. When we we’re settling in we noticed that the TV sound was very low. I called the front desk. There was a recording stating that there was a number I could call. I tried that number all evening. It was busy each time. The office was empty of help before 6 pm! This place is on the Atlantic Ocean. The door to the room was in poor repair. Paint was peeling. It had never looked like that before. The grounds were overgrown with weeds. The room was dated but clean. But hanging in the closet was a bag marked poison! I have been travelling for 60 years and have never seen the like in my life! I took a picture of said bag.

Nope! Will never stay at this little dumpy place, again! would strongly advise others to do the same. Rude Owner(s), bad food. Stay far away! Bad food, no linen changes, too far away from everything else. Next time we ride the Cabot Trail, will will seek other places to stay.

I cannot write enough good things about this Motel. The staff at the Reception and Restaurant were exemplary! They were kind, courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean. This motel had all the amenities one can think of. Internet, Gift Shop, Parking, Pet friendly, a delicious A La carte restaurant with a beautiful view. It was perfect in every way. I give it a 10/10 review. The staff of Cove Motel made sure you had a great experience.

On a personal note, Carolee, was an Angel. She was our Savior. Our car broke down close to the Motel. It was 9:30 pm. I was on a road trip w my Twins and Dog. I called the Motel, and explained Carolee, who answered the ph, my situation. Carolee, came and picked us and took us to the Hotel. Who in today’s world would leave the hotel premises and pick up stranded strangers. She trusted us and helped us out. All their Pet rooms were sold out, she made it work that we all could sleep together. If it was not for her help, my child, my dog and I, would have been sleeping in our car, in the middle of nowhere. I was stranded in Auld’s Cove for 6 days, Carolee made sure we had shelter. I will never forget her kindness and the support she provided to me as long as I live. Thank you Carolee and Cove Motel Staff for taking such good care of us. We felt like we were amongst family…. God Bless you All.

We need more humans like Carolee in this world. Thank you deep from my heart! Thank you all the staff of Cove Motel!!!

I stayed here for a weekend in september and must rate this place as poor- average. Actually giving it an average rating would be a bit generous. I understand that I'm not in a big city and that this is a small town without any luxury hotels or even chain hotels but that still doesn't excuse the cove to be charging as much as they do and providing an extremely dated and not very clean rooms.
The super old musty smell was quite strong when I first entered my room. The bathroom faucets and corners were either very old or not cleaned well.. Either way, I didn't want to touch it. The sheets and the bedding were also very very old. I can get over the old carpeting and the furniture but if you're charging people good money (for the area), then I expect cleanliness and at least towels and blankets that aren't super old and looking a bit dirty.
I suggest looking for a b&b with a great rating rather than to go here. They are correct in calling this a motel- it definitely is a motel from the 80's.
oh. ps. I was there for three days and there was no turndown or new towels given.

Hi, Mardy. Thanks very much for your specific and useful feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to do a better job making our guests comfortable. Experiencing a musty smell or a room that is not clean is unacceptable. We will be implementing policies for the upcoming year to ensure that your concerns are addressed. We believe and hope that most of our guests had a clean room and refreshing stay, but we want to make sure that every guest leaves happy, and we're sorry to have disappointed you. Please feel free to send us a message on our website. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you personally about your stay, and I hope that we can provide you with an experience that exceeds your expectations next time you are visiting Nova Scotia. Warm Regards, Tony

We arrived here without a reservation; the property looked very well kept, as did the office. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, but when we asked to see the chalet with a king bed that was available we were told she could neither leave the desk nor give us a key. She then told us how lovely the rooms were, that they are rated 3.5 stars and that the owners are very picky. It was getting dark out and we decided to take a chance, since the place seemed clean and very well kept, even though $130 was a splurge on this particular trip.

Wish we'd kept on going. I'm uploading a few photos to give potential visitors a look at the chalet that warranted a $130 price tag. I took more, including ones of the hairs in the bathtub, but they're impossible to see clearly.

If dark and dingy is appealing, this chalet has it all, in spades. I will say that the bedding and pillows were high quality and very clean. The mattress was obviously quite new but it was as hard as a rock - my hip hurt the next day (I'm a side sleeper). The bathroom was gross, and there was dust and debris around baseboards and corners in the main room. The small refrigerator in the room made a loud humming noise off and on all night, and surprise! when I went to pour the complementary, in-room coffee the next morning, I discovered that both mugs were dirty. Ick.

I was quite disappointed with myself that I was suckered into staying in such a depressing accommodation that was not clean - I usually check thoroughly before picking a place to stay - for example the night before this we stayed at the Kelly View motel in Cape Breton - and it lived up to the glowing reviews I'd read on Trip Advisor - ultra clean, very comfortable, and moderately priced.

I guess it's really my own fault - we dropped our luggage off, took a quick look around and went to find dinner. It wasn't until after we returned that I went into the bathroom. Lesson learned.

We booked one night and glad it wasn't more. Very outdated, uneven floors, small, poor wifi and the tv didn't work. No staff at the hotel after 10pm! Over priced. There is nothing wrong with motels, but, this place needs improvements. It was clean.

Hi, happytravels. Would you please contact us to provide your booking details? I'm not aware of any TVs not working. We are a small business and don't have full-time staff overnight, but we do have contact information listed at the main entrance in case there are any problems. We would have appreciated the opportunity to help.

While on a tour of Canada we (28) visited this restaurant for lunch, while they were exceptionally busy, we were served promptly by a lady who had worked there a number of years. She spoke well of the new owner/management. The lunch was of a good size and quality. The motel is in a most wonderful pretty setting. A small gift shop is available. Most enjoyable time spent for lunch.

You can order breakfast at their restaurant but it is not included. We had a nice dinner there. For breakfast we hit the Big stop just up the road.
