My husband and I arrived in rain to Port Hood. This lovely inn has three cottages. We stayed in the one furthest back from the beach but one still has a very nice view from the cottage deck and gorgeous sunsets. The cottage is extremely clean and simply decorated with pine furniture. It is european in flavor with duvets instead...

As an electric wheelchair user, I was pleasantly surprised by how thoroughly accessible Elisabeth Cottage was, down to each minute detail. The cottage is exquisitely set up with quality furniture, linens, artwork, etc. The view of Port Hood is amazing and the veranda just made the experience top notch. We definitely want to return!

For anyone who is interested in an unusual B&B experience in Cape Breton Island, look no further. Haus Treuburg is a beautiful old house, overlooking the western shore of Cape Breton Island in the town (village?) of Port Hood. It is owned and run by a charming German couple, Elvi and Georg who provide a "continental touch" to their hospitality....

Stopped by for some sleep and food and enjoyed both wonderfully. Unlike many B&B's this wonderful place also offers dinner as well. So we had it and was astonished at how wonderful and delicious it was. Excellent wine too. Breakfast also did not disappoint as it was served in a wonderful old "bar" which is actually the front room. It's...

Touring with our family from Switzerland, our stay at Haus Treuburg was the highlight of our travels. The cabins were quaint and clean, the view from the decks were spectacular as was the secluded beach where we enjoyed the warmth and sunset while wading in the sandy beach teeming with life. Our dinner and breakfast were prepared by the owner...

Stayed in cottage 2, which was spotless. Best of windows and fully finished with all that you need. Quiet, great views, ocean frontage, nearby store, easy access to Hwy 19. Friendly and very interesting owners/ property. Wonderful German Breakfast, which you would pay 30$ elsewhere in restaurant. 10/10. From Nova Scotia and did not expect such a great place in...

There is no ala carte dining here unless you are a guest of the facility, Otherwise you have your choice of two fixed price menus offering four courses for $44-$48. The offerings are fish or meats done (other than the lobster) in a European style by the owners who come from the German/French border area. The Chef Owner and the...

My wife and I were on our first bicycle adventure on the TCT. Things didn't go as planned. A flat tire near Mabou set us back an hour so we ate dinner at The Red Shoe. We arrived at Haus Treuburg as they were serving dinner to other guests. Elvi made time for our questions and showed us to our...

I stayed for two nights and was delighted that I did. Georg and Elvi are wonderful hosts and Georg is a very good cook, as well. The food was excellent and the house wine was delicious. Breakfast and dinner had a German flair which added uniqueness to both. Service throughout was top notch. The rooms in the Haus are beautiful...

This was our first stop on our Cape Breton trip and it was a wonderful beginning to a charming section of the province. We opted for dinner and breakfast, both of which were spectacular! We stayed in the Berlin Room, which was very comfortable and roomy. In fact, the adjoining washroom was almost as big as the bedroom! The innkeepers...
