Decent dated, room with all the amenities including tv, microwave, fridge, A/C etc…. The bed was firm and after the debacle at my previous night's stay in PEI, I was glad for a restful sleep. The young attendant was very gracious, easy check in and she even provided me with a Tupperware of ice when asked. A good stay but excessively over priced, way beyond similar hotels not in the Cape Breton area. Poor Value

Extremely clean but very dated. The young man running this motel is working really hard to update this motel and for this reason I will stay there again. No ice machine but there is an Irving and a Tims 5 minutes away for ice and coffee. The property has a large lawn and a stream for this kids to play. Lots of mosquitoes. Bring bug spray.

I usually stay in Port Hawkesbury but there was no room. So I drove further up the highway and came across the Aberdeen. The desk lady was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The room had a fridge and microwave. Bathroom was very bright and clean. I would stay here again.

This is a terrible dirty place. There were two small mismatched pillows. The comforter looked like it was from the 70s. The sheets were ill fitting and had blood spots and other dirt. The manager came right in the room to set up the tiny tv, set up the channels, adjusted the sound and took that remote so there was no way to adjust the volume. We left at 5 am and would not have even stayed had we not been driving all day. All we wanted to do was leave and get home to shower. Disgusting!

Stopped here over the long weekend. Previous review is correct. We had a large spider watching us all night among many other insects. Room was like a being in Jumanji. Bed was horrible not to mention the several doors to nowhere. Bathroom door had a sign bathroom in case you weren't sure what it was. All other reviews over 2 years old. Skip this place and choose somewhere else or sleep in your car.

The Aberdeen motel felt like home about 15 minutes after our arrival. Not the most lavish home in the world - and certainly not outfitted with the most comfy beds - but home nonetheless. Adorned with pretty geraniums, it sits at the edge of the highway, complete with a small playground and a little brook. Across the road is a lake- a lovely sight any time of day.
Inside, everything is clean and tidy, with all life's essentials. Fresh sheets, coffee maker, and small fridge for me, and 100’s of TV channels for my partner. Other homey touches such as a small seating area and little table are also nice - should you be foolish enough to eat in your room rather drive down the road for meal at Alice's or Vi's. (However, do put some beer in your tiny fridge for later, since evening activities are rather limited.)
The closest town is Wycocomagh, which is a nice alternative to the more touristy Baddeck.. Wycocmagh offers little in the form of entertainment, but it has a few stores and great people. Within an easy drive is the town of Iona – home of a fantastic historical village, and Orangevale, with it’s delightful train station museum.
The friendly staff at the Aberdeen will make you feel welcome, and seem take pride in their simple motel. You may fall asleep to the sounds of a 16-wheeler, and you may yearn for your own pillow top bed – but it’s great value for the money. Warm, and inviting, but slightly flawed – just like home.

My partner and I stayed for one night at the Aberdeen Motel during a trip on Cape Breton Island after a disatrous stop at a Bed and Breakfast with a chain-smoking proprietor. We drove past two other motels in Whycocomaugh but the Aberdeen definitely has the best location. It's right on the lake, across the road. The owner was a very sweet woman who upgraded us to a king sized bed for the queen price since she had the room available. There's a laundromat on site. The room was basic and a little worn, but very clean with a dining area, couch and coffeemaker.

Location is great for exploring Baddeck and the Cabot Trail. Well maintained property and the room was spotless! All the basics included in the room - refrigerator, kitchen table, coffee maker and microwave make it very livable. It's quiet with parking right outside the door. Would definitely recommend. Good value for a clean, comfortable room.

We had a quiet evening in a clean hotel room. The owner couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for an in and out motel on their way to the Cabot Trail. Be sure to visit Big Spruce Brewing!
