Highly efficient, clean, comfortable, brilliant service and food.
We stayed here at either end of an Arctic sea ice camping trip and I can't rate the hotel high enough. The manager and his team were so polite and efficient. It's a really busy place and they were always around to answer questions. Pond Inlet is really isolated, the restaurant operates a little like a mining location kitchen. The dinner is a set menu but also has a vege option. The food was so good, HEAPS of it. Breakfast you could order anything you wanted (in the normal breakfast fare range) nothing was too hard. Rooms were warm, water was hot, beds were very comfortable.

I ended up at this hotel when the other had wrong check in date and had no room.

I was appreciative that John was very accommodating and got me a room for the week.

The room was very nice, clean and most of all a comfortable bed. Very large screen TV for relaxing is nice.

Continental breakfast is included and optional hot breakfast available, lunch and suppers are also available. The Coop is 7 min walk away for snacks and such.

I will definitely book here again next time in Pond Inlet.

Spent 11 night in December 2020. Great place to relax and biggest TV I have ever seen in a hotel room (around 55-60 inches). Jim is excellent. He goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. His steak dinner is delicious!!!

Great hotel to return to at the end of a day's hiking around beautiful Pond Inlet. Stayed six nights. Clean and comfortable rooms, hot showers and the most delicious meals I have enjoyed abroad in a long time. The staff are only too pleased to help and answer questions about the location. A huge thank you to Rita for everything - you are a star! Thank you!

Decent hotel. Friendly manager. Meals are ok, but weren't as good as I had in the other Nunavut communities. Rooms are large, with no major issues. Hot breakfast made to order. Shuttle service available. Wifi was not working while I was there, but usually does per other guests.

Good sized rooms, spotlessly clean, free internet (but slow), flat screen TV with cable and huge helpings of basic but tasty food. Luxury it isn't - but what do you expect in the Arctic Circle? I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation offered at the Sauniq, a fairly new, prefabricated, single storey building centrally located, close to the Coop and a 5 minute walk from the airport (but everything is 5 minutes from the airport in Pond Inlet). The meals are served at set times in the canteen and overseen by the friendly and attentive chef Brendon. I found the hotel staff some of the most friendly and helpful I have met anywhere in the World - Brendon and Gary went out of their way to make my stay an absolute pleasure. Well done guys.
Pond Inlet is a friendly and welcoming community but best visited when covered in snow and ice when it is probably a little more picturesque. I thoroughly recommend the Sauniq.

We had two separate stays this past month at Sauniq. The review is very difficult given where Pond Inlet is and how hard it must be to maintain a hotel in this location. In any other place, this would be a one star hotel.
The rooms were dirty, hairs over the sheets and pillows. The floors in the hotel very dirty. The staff were very nice and friendly. The food was OK to good.
We stayed one night in the main building and then the second time in the 2nd building/annex. The annex deserves -1 stars - small beds, dirty hallway, ceiling falling down. No wifi in the annex, but the main building had some. No bathtub, just a tiny shower in the annex. Do not stay in the annex if you can avoid it, it was terrible there. The main building is more worth 2-3 stars.
Overall though there are no other choices and at least the staff was friendly.

This is really the only place to consistently have meals made for you in Pond Inlet. So if you are up in Pond Inlet for business or pleasure I highly recommend arranging with the Sauniq Hotel to have your meals prepared.

It is run by a lovely lady named Rita and she is probably one of the kindest persons you will ever meat. She is very easy going and will help you out as much as possible. She also does the cooking!

Rooms are great and clean. If you are the type of person who wants to bring your own food and save a few dollars while you're up there I highly recommend asking Rita when you book your room to have a room with a fridge. Half the rooms have one and the other half don't. And book early!! they fill up quick!

Only downside is the wifi, yes you are in a very remote area, but when I was there the wifi was down. It is hit and miss if you will be able to get wifi so don't get your hopes up. If it is not working at the hotel I recommend going to the public library there (4 min walk) and using the computers (they allow you 30 mins on a pc) but be aware it is very slow speed.

Pond Inlet is such a beautiful place and I couldn't have asked for better accommodations in the remote north. My needs were met: warmth, bed, shower, tv with blackout curtains (a necessity this time of year). There is wifi but I was never able to connect to it. The dinner was so good, prime rib, baked potato with all the toppings, fresh green beans, salad, fresh fruit and homemade lemon meringue pie! The food alone made the stay worth while. Not to mention Rita and her staff are always friendly and helpful.

For this who venture this far north the Sauniq Hotel has all one could ask for. I had a room in the older section but it was clean, comfortable, up-to-date and everything worked. I stayed here in July when the sun didn't set and the curtains kept the light out so I had no problem sleeping. The food was great also, considering that it all has to be brought in from down South. The staff are very friendly and bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable and suggest things to do in the area.
