Welcome to The Barracks Inn Boutique Hotel, an exquisite luxury inn located in the Ancaster Village. This remarkable venue blends classic historic character with elegance and well-thought design. The enchanting old stone barracks, a century stone building, began its life in the early 1800's, serving as a barracks for British soldiers. After an interesting history, the property has been restored and renovated to serve as The Barracks Inn, Ancaster's only boutique inn. Luxury is fragrant throughout the Historic Inn with well-appointed bedrooms and common areas to spoil you. The Barracks Inn features 18 luxuriously appointed rooms, subtly blending unique period décor with the finest of modern guest amenities. As Ancaster's only luxury boutique inn hotel, attention to detail is in everything we do. Each room has been individually designed with fabrics and materials chosen for their colours, contours and textures drawing from the historic elegance with modern day indulgence. Amenities and furnishings for each of the 18 bedrooms have been hand selected and when it comes to comfort, we've thought of it all. This unique boutique inn will cater to the leisure and business traveller. Featuring conference/meeting/group facilities, Spa Packages, Golf Packages, Couple/Romance package, and Holiday/Winter Packages.. The Barracks Inn is conveniently located within walking distance of the Ancaster Mill, a most popular wedding venue. Also within walking distance the Ancaster Village has great shopping with many boutique stores, The Spa at Ancaster, many dining options such as Cavallo Nero's, the Rousseau House restaurant and lounge, and many more. Just a short distance from international airports including John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport or Hamilton International, and only 70 km from Toronto Pearson Airport is wonderfully convenient yet retains a tranquil and undisturbed setting. Ancaster is in southern Ontario and is a scenic suburb of Hamilton. It is situated beside Ontario's Niagara Escarpment and the town is home to an abundance of natural beauty offering many enjoyable recreational activities, as well as offering an array of shopping and dining opportunities. Visitors will find much to do in this picturesque town, such as spending time at the Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum, visiting many of our conservation areas along the Bruce Trail and our many cascades and waterfalls such as the Tiffany Falls, Sherman Falls, and the Hermitage Falls just to name a few . Golf enthusiasts will enjoy playing a round or two at the Knollwood Golf Course, Ancaster also hosts a number of fun annual events throughout the year.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
We absolutely love this hotel. This was our second stay. It is impeccably clean and cared for, lovely without being stuffy, very warm and welcoming. We interacted with three front desk individuals in our very short overnight stay and they were all kind and helpful.
Every detail that can be attended to is addressed and done so very well. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the shower is amazing! The rooms feel immaculately clean without feeling sterile, so well cared for. Also, there is perfect air quality in the room. Members of our family have strong allergies to dust, mold and chemical products and this is by far the healthiest hotel environment we have been in in a long time.
The breakfast offering is beautifully presented for a buffet and has some healthy and homemade options.
Thank you so much for doing what you do so well, other hotel owners should visit you to figure out how they could improve! Your care and quality is very rare these days and is really appreciated.
We have relatives that just moved close by and we are looking forward to many more stays here.

Our friends were married in Ancaster in November 2020 and we stayed at the Barracks Inn for thé weekend. Thé service was excellent...thé front desk staff went out if their way to help access a laptop, the decor and luxury of the rooms is exceptional, convenient and free parking and the Inn is walking distance to some excellent restaurants.
Our only issue was the nightly rates. They were simply too high for the amenities offered during a pandemic. We paid over 500 dollars for two nights and no amenities were available and the breakfast was nothing special that we couldn’t get at a convenience store so the value was poor. It’s a beautiful and comfortable venue but the rates should reflect current events considering amenities were greatly reduced.

Excellent service & front desk staff were very friendly.
The Inn is very clean and the rooms are spacious.
The cleaning staff were very efficient and when asked for a few extras towels or coffee pods, they quickly got them with no hesitation.
There is a outside balcony and a cute sitting area to have a coffee or read a book.
In the morning they had a great continental breakfast with lots of choices.
I give my stay a 10/10.

Hotel was booked 14 months in advance- for a wedding block
Specified that we would need an accessible room- to find out that when the guest that needed the room could not get it .. after doing some digging another guest under our wedding group was offered the accessible room based on it being the lowest price point
Upon arrival treatment from staff was awful .. when we check in the front desk staff member was vacuuming and rather stopping to greet or acknowledge us she continued to vacuum
Staff were rude! From front desk to house keeping
Breakfast bar was not stocked well ( we asked for more breakfast tea biscuits And the staff member put two more out ..
I liked the look of the hotel but wouldn’t go back as the price we paid for the room should have come with at the very least nice customer service.

The Barracks Inn is a lovely boutique inn that you do NOT want to miss!
It is a quaint, cozy and beautiful property. Be careful you may not want to leave.
The lobby area has a beautiful large fireplace that you can sit and have morning coffee or and evening wine. There is a beautiful Christmas tree up right now that makes it that much more enchanting. There is not a restaurant but there are enough around that you can walk to or go into downtown Hamilton (highly recommend Brothers Grimm Bistro) for an array of different food choices. The Barracks Inn does offer a lovely breakfast with different scones, oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee and more. The rooms are beautiful and quite large. We did not hear a peep from the other guests so I think the rooms are pretty soundproof. We actually slept great. The bed is very comfortable with yummy linens. The bathroom is very large with a large walk in shower. Nesspresso machine and pods in the room as well. On the second floor there is a nice sitting room and in the warmer months a balcony to sit out on. The staff are very sweet and friendly. We absolutely loved our stay and will stay again. Our experience was perfect! Thank you to everyone at The Barracks Inn for a wonderful experience!

We had a lovely room the Officers Suite would definitely return. We felt safe in the room everything was spotless.
We had a table booked for the Ancaster Mill which was literally around the corner so we walked directly to the restaurant.

We stayed two nights at the Barracks Inn for a family wedding at the Ancaster Mill and are so happy that we did. We held the Rehearsal Dinner in the Barracks Mess Hall and Laura & Chris made everything come together seamlessly. Their service is just exceptional. Our family and the wedding party stayed at the Barracks Inn and everyone was so impressed with the beauty and quality of not just the rooms, but the entire Inn. All the staff that we encountered were so friendly and attentive to our needs. Our incredible experience at the Barracks just elevated our joy of our son's wedding and we are so grateful to everyone at the Barracks. We will definitely be back!

Stayed two night while attending a wedding in the area. We had high hopes after seeing the nice room. Unfortunately upon arrival I was disappointed in staff treatment
Had I not been on the hook for two nights I would have left .. the computer was broken so getting cards made for the room was impossible and would require having staff walk us up and walking around building to while carrying things (slightly inconvenient) our family took up large amount of rooms as it was booked under a wedding block for the amount of money one party spent I would have thought treatment would have been better..one staff member in particular was the worst employee and should reconsider employment in hospitality with the shameful attitude she holds
*******inconsiderate and rude staff. ******
House keeping made rude comments like “good luck to other housekeepers before walking into one of the rooms our family had occupied… I have photos of the condition of all rooms upon our departure that was beyond uncalled for - we had been there for a wedding so we didn’t spend much time in any of our rooms after late check in
Zero starrrrs !

The Barracks Inn is a wonderful place to stay and is so very charming. The stonework, wooden floors and beautiful furniture make it very hard to leave. We have stayed several times and have always had an amazing experience. The rooms are very cozy with comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms as if you were visiting someone’s home. The whole inn is very clean from the moment you walk into the lobby to your room. They also have a breakfast in the morning that is also very lovely. The staff make the experience that much better with how nice they are. You can also walk to several restaurants and lovely boutiques. We love staying at the Barracks Inn when visiting family and friends and would highly recommend it as a beautiful experience!

+1
Very clean, quiet and comfortable inn. Immaculately kept and clearly well maintained hotel was a pleasure to come back to each of my 4 nights there.
Comfy bed, Nespresso machine and mini fridge, spotless luxury bathroom, buffet breakfast included, ample free parking, friendly desk staff. No gym unfortunately.
I was delighted that breakfast was included and the breakfast was adequate and generous, including cooked egg portions, hot and cold cereal, fruit, sandwich fixings, yogurt, breads and such. However a 5 star hotel would offer better quality bread at breakfast than the very dull basic and surprisingly institutional ones on offer. Would have loved to see a good multigrain, sourdough, seedy rye more befitting of this otherwise elegant inn.
