We just spent a weekend in Arnprior/Renfrew/Ottawa attending a wedding and were fortunate enough to have stayed at the Kirkman House in Arnprior. Ellen was an outstanding host and invited us into her beautiful mansion like we were friends who had been there before, although this was our first time.

The house itself, built in the 1870's as the home of a Lumber Barron, is huge and beautifully appointed with antique furniture and high ceilings and spacious bedrooms. We had three rooms between the 5 of us and all of them were excellently decorated. They all have ensuite bathrooms and our room had a large king bed. The other rooms had two twin beds each. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature in the house was absolutely perfect and there wasn't a bit of noise in the neighbourhood. We all slept very soundly and comfortably.

Ellen prepared a wonderful breakfast on both mornings which included fruit bowls, yogurt, poached eggs with ham on croissants the first morning and crepes the second morning, and of course lots of good orange juice and coffee.

The main street of the town of Arnprior is just a 5 minute walk away and an interesting little restaurant called Danny Mac's is just a few minutes further down the street. We ate dinner there and enjoyed it very much.

If you are going to be in the Arnprior area and are looking for a B&B in a beautiful old mansion with a wonderful host, you should absolutely consider the Kirkman House. We will certainly stay there again and would highly recommend it to our friends and family.

We highly recommend Kirkman House for travellers or visitors to Arnprior. Took a vacation from Ottawa and were very happy with the wonderful hospitality and excellent room with en suite. Very close to the beach and walking in the magnificent Gillies Grove.

We stayed at the Kirkman House for 3 nights. It is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood in the town of Arnprior. The home and the grounds were incredible. The rooms are very clean and spacious with a beautiful decor. The hostess, Ellen was warm and welcoming and her breakfast's were outstanding. We look forward to staying there again soon.

My husband and I stayed at Kirkman House for three nights, from Friday thru Monday. We loved the place. Ellen the host was fantastic! All breakfasts were freshly made, truly delicious, presentable and made according to our requirements ( gluten free and some organic).
The room was clean, very well decorated in a beautiful Victorian house.
The price was very reasonable. We highly recommend this place for your stay in Arnprior.

I have stayed three times at Kirkman House and it was great each time. Once alone and twice with my husband. Ellen makes a fantastic and generous freshly made breakfast and was able to meet all my dietary requirements (dairy-free vegetarian) without compromising taste or quantity or variety. The rooms are beautifully decorated, beds are large and comfy. She allowed me a late check out at no extra cost and brought me tea and biscotti after my check out time! I highly recommend Kirkman House for your stay in Arnprior. It is less than 5 minutes walk to downtown and the river.

We needed a dog-friendly place to stay on our roadtrip through Arnprior. The Kirkman House was perfect! Very comfortable room and amazing breakfast -- eggs florentine with fresh veggies & hollandaise - mmmmmmm. So good!

Thx Ellen for a great stay!

Beautiful Victorian house, full of charm and a vibrant energy. Owner Helen was attuned to our very needs, even anticipating them, being extremely efficient, and took the time to sit down with us at breakfast. Her generosity of the time spent with us made the stay perfect, what an incredible woman! I look forward to finding an excuse to stay at the B&B again.

PS: breakfast was fantastic, location perfect, room clean.

Ellen was a great host, and went out of her way to find information and possibilities for when I moved to town. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and cozy. To top it off the breakfast was one of the best I've had at any hotel or restaurant. Would recommend Kirkman house to anyone.

Late getting into our rooms as the previous tenants were VERY late checking out. The rooms had private baths. My room had a living area attached, which we took advantage of, visiting until late in the evening. Quiet location. Proprietor was great. Breakfast was great. a good stay.
