I had dinner on Saturday Nov. 14, the waitress was very friendly and I ordered the fish and chips, the portion of fish was not very big and part of one end was soggy, it was served on a bed of shoe string French fries, a lemon wedge a small stainless container of tartar and the same size container of coleslaw. I was very disappointed , I have ordered the fish and chips at the Black Dog and the Albion and there was no comparison to either of these places . the meal was $16 and I left hungry

Was celebrating my 30th on a Tuesday with another couple and decided to pay a visit to Lake House of Bayfield. We heard that the cooks there are very talented and have a good following. The whole meal was fantastic. The menu was rather small but all 4 of us ordered a different entree and thoroughly enjoyed each one. The Calamari app was done to perfection and I order it at every place I visit. Thanks for the great time, the little surprise desert for out 30th was a nice touch. Would have given you 5 stars if it wasn`t for the waitress being a tad bit ghosty when we were needed another drink, but nothing to complain about, otherwise she was very attentive most of the evening.

Food was excellent, ambience evocative and romantic, service OK. Please water your hanging plants; they are withering away. I am a plant lover ;) I had fresh water fishcakes followed by the mussels in white wine. I had a New Zealand white wine which was outstanding.

Came here for my birthday meal. We were asked to come early before a big group. We ordered right away and then watched as other people left and new people sat got there food before us while we were still waiting. After 75 mins I finally said something. No apology, or omg let me go see what’s going on. But rather ‘oh ya the kitchen is just backed up it’s coming’ after 75 mins of waiting we got a Caesar salad appetizer. I had to ask what was going on and if the order was messed up cause at this point we shouldn’t be paying. Still no apology, instead didn’t come back to address it. Finally our food came and the owner came out with the waitress. Still no apology or mention of their mess up. I asked again if anything was being done. She told me they would take 50% off the bill. Asked if I want another glass of wine and joked ya ‘if it’s on the house’. The owner turned around and yelled “No!”
I mean not at all as the owner of a restaurant how you deal with people. It’s unfortunate as I used to like this place and recommend it as I live here. I won’t be recommending this any more. Waitress was nice but didn’t know how to handle the situation.

There are just 7 rooms/suites. Each one has a sitting room attached and small kitchen area located in a cupboard. It has a mini fridge, coffee maker, teapot (tea & coffee packs)and a small sink. The king size bed was very comfortable. Our suite had a huge rainfall shower. It was a nice room but we think for out of season (second week of Sept) it was over priced.

We booked the Lake House since another inn, which our friends had already booked, was sold out for the night in question. I’d say we actually won out on size and quality of the rooms overall! Our room was up a flight of outside stairs (so it’s not meant for the step-challenged). The room was VERY spacious for two, with a nice bathroom (huge shower), king bed, space to eat, and a balcony for two that overlooked the main street. Eating space had toaster, water kettle, coffee maker (full pot - not single serve), and mini-fridge. Notably, no microwave. Food for the morning’s breakfast was supplied, included yogurt parfait kits, fresh fruit bowls, bagels, croissants, and the usual condiments. The ONLY downside that I experienced was a coffee pot that seemed to miss a good cleaning out. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. All-in, this was a great short-term stay.

We stayed for two nights in the Admiral Bayfield Suite and absolutely loved it! What a charming place! The room was spacious, clean, nice big bathroom and a huge balcony that gets the afternoon and evening sun - perfect! You can see downtown by since the room is on the side of the building you don't feel exposed. We at the Bistro in the hotel the first night and it was incredible food! Try the pulled pork nachos - to die for! For breakfast they provided croissants, bagels, cream cheese, jam, orange juice, greek yogurt and fresh fruit - nice treat to have in the room. We loved Bayfield and would return to this hotel - it's a gem! Great service!

We live a short drive from Bayfield, and we have visited the Lake House several times in the past year to visit the restaurant and bar. The bartenders and servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We were really impressed with the interesting and creative selections on the appetizer menu. We especially liked the curry soup and the fresh spring rolls. We have stayed overnight here before and the rooms are really beautiful with creative and interesting decor. We were impressed with the little touches like the locally roasted coffee and continental breakfast provided in our room by the hosts before we checked in.
