Detailed Reviews
My husband and I were travelling with our 2 young boys (3 & 8 at the time) from Niagara Falls to Kingston and we wanted a place to stop and spend some quality time. There was a circus in nearby Oshawa and the grounds looked so awesome at Model A Acres that I knew my boys would love it.
As usual I checked Trip Advisor but there were no reviews so I had to trust my gut and their website. Thank goodness I did!! When we arrived everyone was hot and cranky and Ian (homeowner) was tinkering in his garage. He welcomed us right away and served up some ice cold and much appreciated drinks. He showed us to our room and made us feel very welcome. He recommened a couple restaurants and gave excellent directions and told us to make sure we came back early enough to enjoy their pool. Ian's lovely wife Luverne arrived home shortly there after and also made us feel welcome.
When we arrived back at our room there was fresh cream and coffee supplies in the mini fridge in our room and an assortment of tea and coffee for the Keurig. The pull out couch had been pulled out and the bed made up for our boys and we had a very comfortable double or queen bed. There were even chocolate chip cookies to snack on!! Ian and Luverne invited us to use their pool and they had noodles for the kids to play with. It was so nice after a long day. Our room also had a small table, a balcony and a tv but we didn't use it. The bathroom was also very large and had lots of little extras including some fab homemade soaps.
Breakfast in the morning was exceptional. The kids would have been happy with the sausages but of course they gobbled up the pancakes and yogourt and fruit as well. It's not very often a B & B welcomes young kids and Ian and Luverne were so accommodating.
The property itself is a one of a kind place. We were free to tour the grounds and relax and check out all the projects Ian had done. It's worthwhile to visit their website or their facebook page for lots of photos.
Lastly was the cool game we learned about in the guest book in the room. There's a US dollar that you hide in the room and you leave a clue in the guestbook. Our entire family enjoyed coming up with a place to hide the $1. One last thing is that the B&B is a little off the beaten path but we loved it because there were no loud traffic sounds and no noisy neighbours and no elevator or hallway noise you get at hotels.
Great Place - Would Absolutely Stay Again!!

We have been visiting Model A Acres for a scrapbooking retreat weekend for more than 3 years and each time we feel as though we're staying with old friends. Luverne and Ian make us feel so pampered and welcome, the food is delicious, the beds are comfortable and our work and eating space is bright and inviting. We look forward to coming back.

We stayed at Model A Acres from Friday night to Monday morning as we were attending the Boots and Hearts festival. Laverne and Ian made us feel like we were family, not guests! The breakfast was delicious every morning, and the beds were so comfy! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

The other review from ArcticExplorer is right on the mark! My husband and I stayed for three nights this past July with our 10 year old son. My husbands was there for a track event at the Motorsport Raceway, which is only about 5 miles away. Luverne and Ian were extremely accommodating, plenty of room for the race car and trailer. Our room was spacious and had lots of nice extras, mini fridge, Kuerig. Our son enjoyed the pool and especially all of the model airplanes, tank and u-boat on the grounds. Beautiful grounds and landscaping and we enjoyed all of our home cooked breakfasts very much! The last night we were able to enjoy an evening fire in their gazebo with the octagonal wood fireplace - Luverne even offered up desserts for all of the guests. Thanks Ian and Luverne for your hospitality and also advice on the best way to get to Niagara Falls. We really enjoyed our stay!

+1
So this guy named Ian builds all these scale size replicas of a bygone time. A tank, a spit fire, a hurricane, a uboat, the red baron, and he's almost finished a mosquito. The stories he tells on his tour are fabulous. Call to make an appointment. There's also a B&B..

We really enjoyed our visit to the area and our tour of Model A Acres. The loft was cozy and very comfortable and the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the Baked Alaska Grapefruit. Thanks to our wonderful hosts.

This was an amazing place to stay. I rented it for family to stay at during a wedding. The rooms were nice and they all enjoyed breakfast. The yard is decorated with all kinds of planes and cars that were built by the owner. Even if you don't stay here you should call them and book an appointment to see all the cars and planes. It really is quite cool.
They have 3 rooms available.

Had a great stay with Luverne and Ian, what fantastic hosts, they could not do enough for you. Great accommodations in a quiet rural setting. The imagination and work involved of the lawn art was an added bonus and totally is absolutely amazing. You feel like you have just arrived at home. I stayed at five B & B's this trip and this was by far the best one.

This is a great B&B! Ian and Luverne Baron are consummate hosts without being in-your-face. Luverne knows exactly what to offer and is a goldmine of information about local businesses and attractions. But their B&B has to be THE best attraction in the area. Ian is a genius who builds full-size, amazing replicas of cars (mostly Model A's) planes and other vehicles, including a working Sherman tank -- minus the ammunition -- out of "found material." He is most entertaining and informative about his hobby, without any vanity or boasting. It's obvious that he simply loves what he does and is happy to share his wonderful creations. Go there! even if just to see his creations. But if you stay there, you;ll be blown away by the hospitality and genuine friendliness of this great couple.
