We had a "Girl's Weekend", me and my three sisters and ended up in Campbellford (stunning). There were very few options left for hotels and we ended up at the River Inn Motel.

We requested one room as we were only there for the night, it was after midnight and we were leaving first thing in the morning. We do this trip every year all over North America and have always shared a double occupancy room without issue.

The manager advised us that due to Covid, we could not do this. We told him we were all from the same family, had been travelling together for the last couple of days and that Covid wasn't an issue.

He then said it was a fire code violation. It is not. He said that if there were a fire that getting four of us out of one room would be too difficult. We pointed out that getting us out of two locations (as the rooms he was providing were not near one another) seemed to be more of an obstacle than one location.

We were tired and just rented two rooms. The difference in the rooms was startling. One room appeared to have all brand new linens and was very clean. I was pleased.

The other room was old, smelled musty and the linens were very stained and very old. When we opened the fridge, the strong smell of "rotten pepperoni"immediately filled the room to where we all had to go to the nicer room while it aired out. It was pungent.

We were also able to clearly hear the people in the room next to us speaking. When they were in their shower it was as loud as if we were in our own.

Do not use the shampoo if you have coloured hair. It completely stripped all the colour from one of us. She said that when she rinsed the shampoo out, the colour was as though she were rinsing freshly dyed hair. I realize that using motel shampoo is risky but because we were separated, the sister with the shampoo (me) was in the other room and at 6 am she decided it would be fine. It was not.

The view is very nice.

We booked this room as we were attending the Havelock Jamboree and were unable to camp. This was a last minute decision and reviews of the hotel were not the best so we approached with trepidation. Reviews were unfair...nice rooms, pool with a view, and picnic tables and barbeque on the Trent river. Not sure what people want in a hotel, but this was a nice place to stay if you are in the area. Rooms are a little small, but who wants to stay in?!! ...and when was the last time you used a key with a hotel door?

We stayed for one night at the River Inn. Our first impression upon driving up to it was to keep driving, but unfortunately there were no vacancies anywhere else. The exterior is really run down. The roof desperately needs replacing, and the stairway and 2nd floor walkway are rickety and would likely not pass any type of building code. The property could be gorgeous, it has a beautiful lawn and view of the Trent River, but the grounds are in disrepair, and are not welcoming. The pool, with it's great location by the river, was full of murky green water. Our room was very clean, and the beds were quite comfortable, so the stay itself wasn't too bad. We were on the second floor, and I heard those rooms were a bit nicer. There were lots of people out carousing on the balcony and walkway quite late with liquor, etc. and we could hear them clearly from inside the room. This could be a beautiful property and motel if there was any pride of ownership and major repairs were made. The location is fantastic, and there is so much potential, but the owners are clearly not putting any work into the property. It was also quite expensive. The room was $115 and they also charged us $30 extra for our two kids. If the pool, lawn, etc. was usable and the building was repaired, this price might be acceptable (except the extra child charge).

Booked the Rivers Inn in Campbellford using Hotels.com for one room, two adults for one night. Price was $170.00 but when we checked in the price was $190.00. We are two female seniors who didn’t want to get into a confrontation with the front desk so we let it go. When I was going to bed & pulled back the bed sheets there was a huge disgusting stain on them. We asked the front desk to have the bedding exchanged & he then proceeded to blame us for the stain. This manager was a piece of work & should never work in the hospitality industry. You don’t treat seniors like that, especially women. The room, beside the bed stains was noisy, we could hear the people above us talking, walking around, running water & flushing the toilet. The room was not clean & the bathroom was missing the towel bar & the bathroom door would not close completely so there was no privacy. I would not recommend anyone to stay at the Rivers Inn in Campbellford, it is disgusting, outdated, dirty & management is so angry & rude that it will make for a very uncomfortable stay especially for two female seniors travelling alone.

This is terrible business practice!!! I went online and made a booking through the Booking.com service which this hotel is hooked up with and because it was a one night booking for two double rooms over a long weekend (JUNE 29 Sat to JUNE30 Sun 2013 coming up) the hotel owners called us and said the would not accept our reservation!!!!Even though it was already book with confirmation and all. Why would the not honor it!!!Because they are greedy.....and want to wait and hope that other people within these last few days will call and book for more than 1 night...To the owners of this place..u should be ashamed that you do not practice better business skills and if you are hooked up with these online booking companies you should put parameters on certain times of the year and notify them. Certainly don't ruin peoples vacations because you are GREEDY!!!!Be Honorable!!

The room was expensive compared to other motels in the area. More importantly, the first thing I noticed as soon as I open the door was the smell of cigarette smoke and body odor. When I turned on the lights, I was just as disappointed. The room was outdated and in need of repairs. The toilet tank cover was broken in half and the bathroom faucet handle was broken. The overall feeling of the room was unclean and in disrepair. I will not be staying at this motel again and I suggest that you don't either.

Besides being completely ripped off for $130 for a very small outdated room with really basic amenities, we were located on the ground floor and could hear everything happening throughout the motel including:
-opening doors, closing doors
-people walking up and down the stairs to the second level
-people drinking beer in the plastic chairs outside our window late into the night
-a domestic fight which broke out at midnight
-the arguing couple's screaming children
-the arguing couple's makeup session (thankfully shortlived)
This was not high season and I think maybe 3 other rooms were occupied. The room was clean and the tv worked but otherwise I would not recommend this motel.

The service was decent at this place, the staff were very nice but the rooms were over priced, the dock on the river was old and looked unsafe. The worst part was that we had a top floor room and could hear the entire conversation of the people in the room below us, until 3 am. They weren't yelling or anything, it was just a regular speaking sound level, but it sounded like they were standing right outside of our room. Overall it was clean, it had a fridge which was nice and the staff were nice too, but it was over priced and not sound proof at all!

The grounds, at first glance, are lovely. Lots of grass, two BBQ areas, large pool, pretty fountain, spectacular river front location. BUT, pool was not yet open for summer (in July??), both brick BBQs were crumbling, the concrete pads were uneven with construction rubble at the side, broken glass from previous night's drinkers. There is a large floating dock for boaters but the ramp to the shore has railing on both sides that was old and ramshackle, a definite hazard while the dock is bobbing in the water. A dumpster sits at rear of the grounds with 7 ugly storage sheds.
Price was reasonable for a king bed. But the room # 103, was on second floor with a narrow and steep stairway. So narrow that climbing up with luggage in both hands was tricky. My wife tripped on the top stair and went down face first on the landing. No harm done.
The room had a nice comfortable bed but was badly dated and not attractive at all. Fridge door cracked, door frame to bath room broken, but the bath room floor and walls seemed newly tiled and pretty. Good water pressure in shower. Large t.v. worked well, seemed new. Perhaps efforts are being made to upgrade units. The unit needs carpet update. A/C noisy and bothersome but worked well. I sat on the chair and wife said "Be careful" The dowels holding legs to frame had come out and a complete chair collapse was imminent. I shoved it together and left a note for owner to fix it. Saddest of all, when I made coffee in the morning, there was an old coffee packet in the machine. One can only presume the cleaning staff were not thorough.
Nice to have 2 chairs on deck to enjoy the view. There are no ice machines but owner/operator came up with a baggie of cubes.
Owner/operators quite friendly and helpful, but over all, I would pass on this motel. If you look at owner supplied photos of the grounds you will think it is splendid, but, photos do not tell whole story about this place. The pretty stone seating area is completely overgrown with weeds and unusable. Not shown are the crumbling brick BBQs and shaky hand railing at the dock, nor the difficult stairway to second level.
Not for me again.

Very clean. The owners we're very friendly and accomadating. Beautuiful view and common areas outside. Barbecue and fire pits and lots of seating. There also was a pool that was very nice. There is a dock that has a paddle boat you can you use. W enjoyed just sitting on the dock, very relaxing. There is also comfortable chairs and a small side table outside your door. The owners go around and mingle with the customers enjoying the outside facilities. Every time we saw them they asked us how everything was and if we need anything. You can tell they have made some updates and are slowly doing them! The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable and huge! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We definitely plan on coming back!
