I would never buy again. Fees increase every year. Get less for your money every year. Always issues every year never smooth. It is a trailer park not a resort. Always extra charges. The grounds are poorly maintained, water issues, garbage issues. If you require any servicing there is a $25 charge just for writing a service request. They take no responsibility for park issues. Pool is out of service frequently. Staff leave too early.
Our family of 5 recently stayed at the Woodland Estates Resort for the 3rd time (our other visits were in 2013 and 2014). The cottage is simply and comfortable. It was short walk over to the beach and pool area. The saltwater pool was perfect for us as our kids are sensitive to chlorine. Being in the pool and being able to look out at the lake was a great experience. Although small, the beach area was perfect and the roped in swim area of the lake was appreciated. Our only concern was that the beds were covered in plastic mattress covers, which we appreciate for hygiene reasons but did not love the feel of. We had free use of the kayaks and canoes and the rec centre was a welcome break from being outside in the sun all day. The resort provided hand sanitizer and cleaning solution at all entry points. Overall we recommend this resort for families with children who love the water.…
It's a nice resort with helpful staff! It's true that it's more like a mobile home than a cottage. However, the place is very clean and look quite new to me. My unit is bigger than I expected which is 2 bedrooms. Bathroom and shower tub is small but usable. Water is slow but it's very hot. The good thing is the private marina in front of our cottage since we have a motorboat which we can park right there. Really enjoy the BBQ and eating outside the deck. Make sure you get enough propane for hot water and BBQ before 8 o'clock. The staffs would be gone at 8. They are very supportive during our whole trip. They offer free hot dog for lunch one day and have various activities during the week. We had a good time fishing at the lake and got quite a lot of Small Mouth Bass, Pike, etc. The big bonus is the free kayak, standup paddleboard, canoe, and paddleboat. My son and I borrowed the paddleboat but was stuck in the strong wind. We have to leave the boat at a dock of another cottage and then walked back to the office around the corner, fortunately, it's not far away. The staff handled it for us promptly without giving us any hassle. We had a lot of fun with the standup paddleboard as well! The price may be a bit high ($300+ per night) it's good that you don't need to rent it for a full week as the most cottage.…
Rented a 3 bedroom for 8 days and was charged a total of over $3700.00 and did not get what we had reserved. We were told by an on-site employee that reservations made in early spring got “messed up”. The resort charged a additional $798.00 for 2 (additional adults). The rental was for 4 adults and 2 children in a 3 bedroom cottage, there are no cottages you are renting a mobile home, We ended up with 2 (two mobile homes). Why did we bother reserving in March? Many of the guests we met booked through Air B&B and paid $175.00 per nite with no additional charges. Do not book through Blue Heron Resorts they over charge. On site employees are extremely nice and did their best to accommodate us. Head office reservations wiped their hands of the reservation mess up and stated “we comped you an additional cottage (mobile home). We did not want to be split up but we had no choice. The mobile home only had 1 bedroom and the second bedroom had bunk beds which could not accommodate 2 elderly adults and 2 small children. Nice place to visit but do your price comparison before you use Blue Heron Resorts reservations. M LeBlanc Welland, Ontario…
This is our fifth year at a Great Blue Resort. We stayed a week in late July, the resort is smaller than Cherry Beach or Lantern Bay, but still nice. We had a lakeside cottage and all cottages are close to the pool, beach and clubhouse. Beach is small but clean, pool is warm and lots of chairs, recliners and cushioned under the overhang of the rec centre. The staff are quite friendly, the resort and cottage are well maintained. Overall a nice, simple summer family getaway.
I have been an owner for three years now with my best friend and her family (and our two dogs) and I HIGHLY recommend this resort to anyone (singles, couples, children of any age). The heated salt water pool, the beach front, the Kidz Klub, the ice cream store on site, the free paddle boat and kayaks and canoes are just the beginning. This is a family friendly, pet friendly resort! They have ample visitors parking and the staff are great! Everything mentioned above is a one-two minute walk from your cottage! Rent or own, your choice! It's worth it!
We just finished a week stay with our 2 1/2 year old daughter and 1 year old son. Hopefully this review will help other families with small children thinking about staying here! It took us a while to adjust but we had an amazing time and made some incredible memories. Despite staff saying a pack-n-play would not fit in the second room, we jammed it in beside the bunk beds :) We also moved some furniture out of the master closet and put our second pack-n-play in there. It was a great set-up for us and our two kids. We could also hear them from the deck and the dock. Some positives: - the pool is warm and clean, salt water! Not very busy and a great place to relax and swim. There's a smaller, colder pool too that was popular with grade-school kids. - the beach was clean and had great, soft sand. - the playground was big and perfect for my 2 year old. It was always a busy place. - the resort was never loud, not even on weekends. A really family friendly place. - The staff were so friendly and were really great with getting to know our daughter, especially when I would take her to kids club. The kids club was in a big rec room close to the pool and had puzzles, toys and games. The program was also great - crafts, games etc - and I always saw older kids participating. I stayed with my daughter and did the crafts. My son enjoyed crawling around the big room playing with the toys and puzzles. - we stayed in a waterfront cottage which I would highly recommend. It was beautiful to look out over the water every morning and every evening. Try to book a cottage with a dock as well! We stayed in #10 and when I looked at the map, it really seemed to be the best location in the resort. - we had an awesome bonfire in the convenient (personal) fire pit. - we barbecued almost every night. The kitchen has everything you should need but bring sponges, dish towels and dish soap. Some negatives: - I read other reviews that mentioned the beds not being comfortable. This is completely true unfortunately. Do not expect hotel-like beds... Picture small thin mattresses in a mobile home. - the mobile homes are small and have paper-thin walls. Bring noise machines if you want your babies to sleep! - the homes are very close to one another so there's not a lot of privacy. - the lake seemed pretty murky so we never ended up swimming in it, but the pool was great. …
This is our second time back to this resort. Water - small beach front. 2 Pools - 1 has a deep end and the other is shallow for younger children. When we were there the water was clean and warm and there was seating and seating on the beach. Kids Club - my kids loved it. Downfall - there is nothing for teenagers. No snack bar, no basketball court while other of Great Blue Resorts have them. Cost - it is getting expensive. Rental rates look to make a quick buck rather then look for long term rentals. The average guess if 100 bucks a date is not held to here and rentals are up to the cost of renting a cottage on a lake rather then have a trailer. Trailers - clean and plenty of space. lived the BBQ, beds are big enough and matresses are average in comfort. Canoes/paddle boat and paddle boards - well worth using and they are free. Playground - small but in good condition Noise - was quiet the week we were there and no loud parties. Yeah! Safety - I live close to Toronto and would not let my kids roam freely. did not have that worry here. Felt totally safe to help them have freedom. Would I come back? Price is making me think twice.…
We were a group of 4 friends looking forward to a peaceful getaway. We had booked a cottage at another resort that didn't work out, and we had to quickly find somewhere to move when the other resort couldn't resolve the many problems we encountered there. We were so lucky to find Woodland Estate Resort! The staff were so welcoming and couldn't have done more for us! The cottage was pristine, with a nice layout, wrap-around porch, lovely kitchen, and more: The property has a beautiful salt-water pool and lovely waterfront, lots of shade trees. We enjoyed the kayaks and the pretty country roads nearby for long walks. This place was like a warm hug for us after our bad experience at the other resort. Thanks to all the staff at Woodland, who made us feel so welcome and saved our vacation!…
I am reading reviews about Woodland Estate Resorts and it bothers me when people complain about "New Canadians" overcrowding the place. I have seen 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation Canadians in a large family form, partying loud across the water until after 2:00 a.m. They were told several times to end it and as soon as the employee left, they continued. One more problem I had was the cleanliness. The furniture and beds have strong odours. It felt like the bedding, covers etc. were not washed for a while. Other than that, the place is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
