The Bayview is a simple motel with straightforward amenities and clean, comfortable rooms. Our property was built in the 1960s and maintains its classic character. We are situated on Colonization Road East in Fort Frances, overlooking beautiful Rainy Lake, next to the LaVerendrye Parkway river walk and just down the street from the Sorting Gap Marina and Pither’s Point Park. The Bayview is the ideal outpost for a fishing weekend or a family vacation to discover Fort Frances and its surrounding natural wonders.

A very well renovated motel right on the lake. We received a welcome text with all the info we needed, as we were arriving late. The light in the room was left on with curtains open-so easy to find our room, and felt welcomed. Pics were accurate. Bathroom was snug(typical in older motels) but redone.Room was spacious, clean, with nice little touches. Beds comfortable with crisp white linens. The staff were so helpful. Would love to stay here again.

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Would be nice to have a window to open, but that was not a negative. Housekeeping asked if we needed anything each of the three days we were there this time. Access and parking was great just don't bring a trailer in. Will stay there again next time we visit family in the Fort. Thanks

We loved staying at the Bayview this weekend. I would highly recommend this hotel if you need to stay in Fort Frances. The staff is wonderful and accomodating. The room is spacious and great. We rented the suite with the kitchenet and it was great.

They give you everything from pots/pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, cooking utensils and even a toaster.

Run to book your stay here as I can guess they must book up fast.

I give this place a 100 out of 10. My family and I will book here everytime we are in Fort Frances. Grace you have an amazimg establishment

No contact checkin. We were supposed to get a code via email that was to provide the information on how to access our keys and rooms, but five couples did not receive an email. We were not allowed an hour early check in which would have allowed my husband a chance to sleep before our evening event. His treatments zap his energy and the pills keep him tired. Upon arrival we tried the button on the door, no response, tried calling the phone number, no response and mail box was full. At 3:00 the door to the small alcove was open and so many couples were crammed in trying to get their key. So hot in there, no place for my husband to sit. He finally just went to the car. We paid an extra $15.00 for a room with a view, but once all the cars are parked you lost the view. Toilet was very low, bathroom small. Only one key is disbursed. No staff available unless you call the international number (not a 800 number) so I guess you pay for each call. The owner answers then contacts the site manager who then comes to your room. Not sure how we were to get more towels etc. without calling. The room was very clean, comfortable beds. Restaurant next-door was handy.
Not sure I would stay there again. Maybe paying a bit more for the comfort of knowing there is a front desk may be necessary for us.

Late check in was easy, they sent a text and keys were left in the room. Only two bath towels were provide. One ply toilet paper was available, I only see this in the cheapest gas stations. The lock on the door was not secure. The room was clean and the place was quiet which saved the night.

First of all, it is a self check-in system, no one works in lobby. The day of your reservation, you will receive an email that gives you a code but I don't believe it tells you that you go to the lobby to check in, not to assigned room. The code does not get you into the room, that is by an old fashioned key. Our room was fairly clean, there was a paper/ garbage on floor in bathroom from previous guest. I was annoyed because on day 2, I needed another 2 coffee cups and two towels that are stored in lobby. (No signs that tell you this, we found out by texting.)But lobby was locked at 6-7pm. Then we tried Sunday morning at 10:45am and it was also locked. This was annoying. I did not try to contact anyone because by that time I had given up and was checking out. I did share this feedback and was told I should have texted. But I don't see why I should be doing that, I would have assumed it would be open! Anyway, it is cute but lake view has a highway in front of your view. It is awkward to leave curtain open as people can see in as they walk or drive by. The walks are paper thin and you hear the cars and the conversations next door. The beds were comfy and room had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee machine. If you can get into lobby you can get extra towel or toiletries. The shower pressure was terrific. The tub was old and worn with new shower head. We were in a room with two double beds. We wish they were Queens. We did text a request for an extra key and towels and that's how we found out that they were in lobby. Text was answered quickly and key was delivered. There are two doors that open to outside.

Motel is decorated very tastefully for an old motel but there are quite a few drawbacks for this place.

I recently had an overnight stay here and was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was even though it is close to the major roadway. Loved the checkin procedure of being dispensed a key from a lockbox-it was easy and quick. Not only did they have ice available for guests but it was already in the bucket..the little restaurant Harbourage a couple doors over was nice for homemade food. I would stay here again

Like many people, when I hear the word motel, I usually don't often feel confident, but in the case of the Bayview Motel, I can tell you: think again!

Recently renovated and a street crossing from a body of water with a view of the United States, I loved the night I spent there. The ultra-friendly team of this great motel takes care to send you, by SMS and before your arrival, the details for a contactless check-in which is done simply, without fuss. Although I didn't have to contact them again, if anything had happened, they let me know that I could easily contact them via text message as well.

The bed was very comfortable, the room clean and recently renovated. Although some items still looked dated, everything was clean and in excellent condition. The view from the room over the water and the great accessibility to the waterfront promenade definitely added to the experience which was already perfect :)

The only negative point:
Even set to 1, the volume of the television remained very high, often sleeping with the television in the background, I was afraid of disturbing the neighbors even if that was perhaps not the case!

I highly recommend this charming little motel and the town of Fort Frances, ON if, like me, you find yourself having to travel from Ontario to Manitoba and/or the rest of Canada. A great discovery which was not at all on my initial itinerary but which is definitely worth visiting once in your life (and even more!).

When I got married I needed to book rooms for my guests. Jamie was very accommodating even during the busy season and made sure that they had water facing rooms. My wedding guests were from the city and enjoyed being on the waterfront and said that the owners made sure that their stay was very enjoyable. When they left they thanked me for putting them up in such a quaint clean motel. Thank you Jamie and Myles
