Truly enjoyed our visit to the Inn and our spa services. The estheticians at the spa are highly skilled and the services are professionally done. We were treated to the Mother’s Day buffet dinner and not the Chef’s menu that came with our room package. Our dinner included poached shrimp, smoked salmon, prime rib, fresh salmon and a variety of salads and the desserts were sinfully delicious. Our room was large, clean and a great view of the back lawn and forest area. All the staff in the restaurant, spa and hotel were over the top welcoming. One exception, was the woman who checked us in the afternoon of May 14th ( after 4:00). My daughter and I felt like we were inconveniencing her. I am only commenting on this woman because the rest of the staff, the hotel, spa, and meals were all 5 star.

Dear Management, Now that I’m home and have my witts about me, I would like to tell you about our experience at your establishment the day and evening of Saturday, February 18, 2023. First off I’d like to express how wonderful your staff is and that this issue has nothing to do with how we were treated. We received a 600.00 gift card in November of 2019 as a wedding gift. We were excited to use this but Covid hit in early 2020. In the summer of 2021 I was ill so this was the first opportunity we had to use this and we were truly excited. My husband book room 119, the Connaught suite. He knows how much I enjoy a little pampering and I was looking forward to getting in that jet tub in our room. We arrived around 3:30 with a dinner reservation for 7:15. That would be perfect to enjoy a couple of cocktails in our room and enjoy that tub. The following is a list if issue we found; - the bed was like sleeping in a hammock and we both have back aches and got little sleep - We both brought our toiletry bags into the bathroom and there was nowhere to put anything accept a shelf that was six inches wide and we found the room freezing, even having to use the toilet was a challenge because it felt like an outhouse in winter - the shower was leaking in 2 different spots. The right side hand held shower was leaking water at the wall and the left side rainfall shower-head would drip water when it was shut off until my husband put the selector switch in the hand-held shower head position. To be clear my husband was the only one that showered while we were there because of this and the bathroom being freezing cold. - the sink was clogged(right side)so when washing my hands it just kept filling and wouldn’t drain - the bathroom was so COLD, I wasn’t able to use the tub, I found it funny there was a towel warmer yet the floor and room in general was so cold - the furnace kept cutting off and on all night which made it even more difficult to sleep Just to be clear, we are not fancy people and very easy to please but these deficiencies we found to be over the top for a one night stay with dinner and breakfast that cost 730.00. Our friends that purchased this wedding gift card for us are going to be appalled I’m sure when they ask how are stay was at Elm Hurst. Regards, Lynn Whitesell, Greg Baltzer

Responded Mar. 13, 2023
Dear Lynn and Greg, I am so sorry to hear that your recent overnight experience was no where near either of our expectations. The issues that you have expressed will certainly be looked into by maintenance as they should not occur. In regards to the mattress I’m sorry that it was not comfortable. I will have to look into this further as it was just recently replaced so I am surprised it has already diminished that quickly. Please feel free to email me directly and I would be happy to offer an alternative form of compensation. Warm regards, Brittany Labrie Noels info@elmhurstinn.com

We came for my grandmothers 90th birthday and made the venue well aware that’s why we were coming. The room was nice but the table itself was so cramped we were all elbow to elbow it was hard to get out to go to the buffet and not e enough room on the table for anything other than one plate per person (couldn’t even fit a salad plate). The buffet food was not hot even though it was in chafing trays. The selection of food was minimal compared to what I have had there in the past. Being dairy and gluten free proves a challenge. Prime rib was good but Turkey sausage seemed rubbery as did the bacon. Salad bar had 5 options… beet, some sort of mushroom, crab salad, pasta and a spinach salad not even any croutons or bacon bits with just tomato, cucumber and shredded carrots. Zero fruit salad which was very disappointing as it was a brunch I sort of expected that. The cheese selection was nothing special just slices of cheddar and mozzarella which was a disappointment to my kids as in the past they had a much better selection of different kinds. The DIY waffle station was placed right next to the chef making omelet’s which created a big lime and no one knew who was there for what. Also the waffle table was backwards with whipped cream and fruit toppings at the beginning and the waffle maker last which make it so you had to cut through the line to get toppings after making your waffle. Seriously need to rethink that whole room there is a much better way it could be set up and it would flow much better! Bread bar was very plain. Dessert bar was two long tables but only a minimal selection and did not offer any gluten free options ( get with the times guys). When I asked the waitress for a gluten free option (fresh fruit even would have worked) she said she could check with the kitchen they MAY have a sorbet. Why is this not more advertised I shouldn’t have to ask.. made me wonder what else they had I didn’t know about. At the end of our meal no offer to bring grandma a piece of cake with a candle like I had seen other tables receiving even though waitress was well aware of her birthday even addressed it in the beginning. Overall the entire group was u happy with selection verses price. $44 dollars a person is reasonable I suppose for all you can eat but if they are goi g to increase prices should have kept with same quality as in the past. Will not be visiting again which sucks because previous visits were amazing and well worth the price!

Stayed in Lord Connaught Room it it was awful. Very cold but if you turn on heat, we set it at 20, the heat came on on and off all night and sounded like a helicopter taking off in the room. Room very very dry. Very dated. Service at dinner and food very good but would absolutely not ever recommend an overnight stay.

We went to the Elmhurst Inn for the Tuesday lunch buffet. We were told the buffet has just recently restarted as a daily feature post Covid. We enjoyed the lunch buffet many times pre Covid and we were looking forward to going again. The dining room was clean, the table location near a window was lovely and out waiter was attentive and friendly. The buffet was good but certainly not up to par to our previous experiences a couple years ago. The price has also increased quite significantly. The selection of breads (only one type of roll), crackers and variety of cheese was minimal. The hot entrees were butter chicken and meatballs and it was self serve. There was no hot vegetarian option. In the past, the hot section of the buffet has been served by a chef and there has been a carving station usually with beef, turkey or ham. It was difficult to open the flip lids of the hot entree serving dishes. We were also very disappointed and surprised that there was no fruit selection on the dessert table. Dietary restrictions didn’t seem to be considered. There were a number of corporate groups at the restaurant, so the buffet was fairly busy. We had to request and wait for dessert items to be replenished. Finally we encountered some difficulty paying with gift cards that we had from a couple years ago, pre Covid. Initially they were returned to us and we were told their system wouldn’t accept them. Because they totalled $100 we were adamant that they should work! Upon a second attempt, the front desk person was able to put them through but no apologies were made while I stood at the front desk interacting with her. Unfortunately our experience did not meet our expectations based on past visits. The buffet was not up to the standard we have come to expect at the Elmhurst Inn.

Had a fabulous getaway with my friend on Friday night. Our visit started with services at the spa, followed by dinner in the dining room and an overnight stay. Our manicures and pedicures were in keeping with my 13+ years of visiting the spa. Dinner was delicious! Our room was spotless, beds were very comfortable and we had a beautiful view from our window. Breakfast in the morning was fresh, hot and fabulous!

If you want to be treated like royalty, this is the place for you. The historic venue is not only beautiful, it is also run like a fine-tuned clock. The staff is efficient and personable. The breakfast buffet was excellent and expansive. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with them. Special thanks to Brittany for attention to details and proficiency.

We went to The Elmhurst Inn from August 24-26. It was our first getaway since Covid. Most of it was a wonderful experience. Shoutout to ALL the staff, from the friendly front desk staff, grounds staff, & the Restaurant staff. Special shoutout to our server Kim for the 2 nights. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and very personable! We are Gluten Free & they were able to accommodate us! The dinner meals were yummy & very tasty! The breakfast buffet was better than 4 years ago. Being Gluten Free we were limited in what we could have. They gave us Gluten Free toast. Bacon was crisp.Scrambled Eggs were not so good & lukewarm. I do realize it’s hard to keep food hot on a buffet. The fruit was good! We didn’t check out the rest of the buffet b/c we couldn’t eat it. The breakfast buffet was included in our package which was nice. We had a room on the first floor right near the front desk. The washroom looked updated and had a walk in shower which my husband liked. The rug looked fairly new. The room was clean. However it did look tired and needs to be refreshed. The grounds were lovely! We enjoyed sitting in the Muskoka chairs and listening to the sounds of the water fountain. Around the grounds are more chairs, greenery & fountains. Again kudos to the staff for their excellent, friendly service! Overall, we had a wonderful getaway for our Anniversary. We will definitely be back! The nice thing is that it’s only 45 minutes from Kitchener. With my health challenges not having a long drive is a bonus!

I cannot say enough about what a fantastic and elegant venue this is for a wedding. The entire wedding staff from Jennifer and Leslie to the servers and bartender were so accommodating and easy to deal with and so very nice to our guests!! The food was fantastic! Nothing we asked for was too much trouble (beer was delivered during photoshoot! On a very hot day!!) Truly a wonderful experience. Thank you so much to the staff at the Elmhurst. We are all very happy!!

It was so nice to get away, way too long. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable and safe the entire time. Dinner was excellent especially the curry lentil soup. I could have easily made a meal out of it. Our server offered to box up our dessert to take back to our room since we were both full from dinner. Thankyou, Ashley! We forgot our jackets in the closet and they are being couriered to us as I speak. Looking forward to our next getaway at the Elmhurst.
