There is just something great about arriving to set up an event and the whole place is perfectly set for you! The Elm Hurst went above and beyond to create the perfect 25th wedding anniversary celebration for my parents. The grand ball room was absolutely gorgeous; the food was filled with flavour in every bite; and, the staff friendly, helpful, and willing to do anything to make an event go as smooth and stress-free as possible. The grounds were gorgeous and well-kept creating a picturesque background for our family photos. Overall, a fantastic time was had by all guests! Thank you!

My husband and I just returned from our 28th anniversary weekend at Elmhurst Inn, All the staff from front desk, restaurant staff and others we encountered were very friendly, helpful and kind.
The hotel was clean and hand sanitizer available everywhere. Our room was very clean, comfortable and lovely.
The breakfasts and dinners were all delicious. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth tender and delicious. The seafood linguini was cooked al dente with lots of shrimp and scallops, it was lovely. And the chicken with gnocchi was also great. Outdoor dining on the patio was nice and there was always a lovely breeze despite the humidity. The tables are placed far apart and social distancing rules are being followed.
We are so happy we came and had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. It is wonderful that the hotel only has 3 levels and the top floor is only one flight from the main level so we could just take the stairs rather than the elevator. Other than seeing other guests in dining area it was nice that it wasn’t crowded and we rarely even saw other guests in hallways.
We went to St.Jacobs Farmers Market and that was nice to get fresh fruit, vegetables and baked goods and as it’s mainly an outdoor market you could social distance safely.
Would highly recommend Elmhurst Inn and looking forward to our next visit.

My husband and I stayed at the Elm Hurst Inn over the weekend on the Sunday Night package with the prime rib buffet dinner. We have stayed many times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed every time. We were welcomed at check in promptly by a very friendly staff member who also checked us out on Sunday efficiently. Our room was quite lovely with a gas fireplace in the corner. Dinner was fantastic and so was breakfast the next morning. I did not use any spa services however wish I had of as it looked very nice. The inn is in a great location right off the 401. We had a very restful sleep with no noise whatsoever. We will definitely return again soon.

We stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon and were very disappointed. Elm Hurst failed to live up to being "the finest luxury hotel in southwestern Ontario,” and there was a lack of attention to detail throughout.
Positives:
1. The house and grounds are beautiful.
2. The staff were friendly and polite.
3. Dinner was amazing!
Negatives:
1. Our room (Lord Connaught) mostly felt like a standard hotel room, not the advertised “romantic getaway.” And where are its "beautiful country views"?
2. The room's "private" patio is very close to an overflow parking lot and a rear hotel entrance, and it's completely open to a public lawn area. The base of the patio umbrella was badly broken.
3. Within minutes of our arrival, one of the heavy side panels on the bathtub fell out and broke.
4. The room’s TV is fairly old and very glitchy.
5. There were no instructions for the jacuzzi. We eventually realised that the timer on the wall beside the heated towel rail was for the jacuzzi and had to be set before the jacuzzi would work.
7. No housekeeping was offered. We've stayed at hotels recently that still offer basic housekeeping during COVID (emptying garbage, making the bed, resupplying toiletries).
8. The breakfast service seemed short-staffed, which meant basic items were consistently forgotten.
9. We were charged twice for our stay. When staff tried to resolve this, another charge was erroneously made to a different credit card. Things eventually got resolved a week after checking out.

Thanks for taking the time to write out this review. We are very sorry to hear you were disappointed in your stay with us. Firstly, congratulations on your Marriage!! We were not aware this stay was your honeymoon pre-arrival or we would have been sure to acknowledge that at check-in and put a little something in the room for you. I'm sorry this opportunity was missed. Second, thank you for the kind words in your "positives" section - we do pride ourselves on the reputation of our wonderful staff and delicious meals. Onto the negatives - our sincere apologies for the issues during your stay. I do recall your billing error as well and appreciated your patience as we sorted that out. We do have many beautiful country views from all sides of our property, pond, walking trail, fountains, and plenty of outdoor seating. The room you booked is one of our very best rooms and is quite popular. We will take into consideration your suggestion for newer TV's and instructions at the jacuzzi tub and appreciate that feedback. Unfortunately for the safety of our staff as well as our guests, we are currently unable to offer stayover housekeeping service per the guidance of the Hotel Association of Canada. We do have notes about this on our website and in our confirmation email so all guests are aware of the limited housekeeping service ahead of arrival. Thanks again for the feedback, and again, congratulations on your Marriage! Kind Regards, Alon Gurman

I wanted to do something special for my best friends 50th birthday so called to book and called and called and left my contact information not only did they never return call she lied and said she left me a message when we finally went in person. She said we are really busy yet she was doing nothing when we arrived and when we walked out after booking spa treatments. Vanessa on reception in the Spa on the other hand kind, friendly, patient as I had bit of trouble hearing with all our masks on. If it wasn't for her kindness we would have went elsewhere. My girlfriend felt so intimidated that she would not ask any questions at desk. The dining room staff for reservations also very polite when I asked for dinner prices as I am not independently wealthy.
Fingers crossed our actual experience is much better. I hope the Elmhurst reads this, whomever was manning your front desk on September 1st, 2021 needs a course in customer service. They are the first person anyone meets representing their brand and she would sour Jesus.

Good evening Tarah G, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback about your recent experience visiting our hotel. I do apologize that you did not receive a call back after leaving or message or worse than that not being able to talk to someone when you initially called. This is something we are certainly working on at the front desk to ensure that we are multi-tasking to the best of our abilities. In regards to your current visit to our hotel I do apologize as well for how the Front Desk Representative acted while you visited our establishment yesterday. This will certainly be addressed and I assure you that your upcoming stay with us will not disappoint. Thank you again for your feedback as this does help to improve our front desk team and we look forward to welcoming you later this year.

Stayed July 10 - 15/2022 in the Lord Connaught room. The room had a weird, musky odour that did not dissapate. Floor was tacky and uneven. Bathroom with double shower was incredible, but when both shower heads are used, water does not drain properly and floods the bathroom floor.

The rooms are tired and a strange, eclectic mix of modern/cheap furnishings (not aligned to the vibe of a historic Inn). The outside patio space was actually right beside the parking lot, separated only by some straggly cedar trees.

We dined one evening at the Inn. The meal was okay, not outstanding, and VERY overpriced.

Breakfast buffet was miserable for me (a vegan). No soy or almond milk. No margarine or butter substitute for toast. No oatmeal offered just overcooked beans.

I am SUPER disappointed as I specifically sent an email to the head chef asking about Vegan options 1 week prior to our stay. I received an edgy response from the chef telling me that he "knew was a Vegan diet was" and "that they have Vegetarian/Vegan guests all the time that they provide meals for". Clearly, he does not.

The grounds are beautiful.

The staff is friendly and accommodating.

We have stayed at many Ontario Inns over the year and have never had such a awful experience.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your recent overnight experience. This suite will be getting a new floor installed later this year and we are looking at modifying the landscape next year in the spring. Our Lord Connaught Room is a quite popular room and we are sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations. In regards to providing you with a vegan breakfast I have provided this feedback to our Culinary Team as you certainly should have been offered something besides beans for your meal. Again we do apologize for your recent stay and hope this will not hinder you from returning in the near future. ~ Brittany

My husband and I spend a night at the Elmhurst Inn and Spa. The room was clean and comfortable. Our dinner was a 4 out of 5... the breakfast was good as it is included, hot and cold items available.
We were a little disappointed when we asked for a late check out and were told they couldn't accommodate it. We would have even paid for a little longer sleep'in and use of our hot tub and room. So this was unfortunate as most hotels do offer this.

We came for my grandmothers 90th birthday and made the venue well aware that’s why we were coming. The room was nice but the table itself was so cramped we were all elbow to elbow it was hard to get out to go to the buffet and not e enough room on the table for anything other than one plate per person (couldn’t even fit a salad plate). The buffet food was not hot even though it was in chafing trays. The selection of food was minimal compared to what I have had there in the past. Being dairy and gluten free proves a challenge. Prime rib was good but Turkey sausage seemed rubbery as did the bacon. Salad bar had 5 options… beet, some sort of mushroom, crab salad, pasta and a spinach salad not even any croutons or bacon bits with just tomato, cucumber and shredded carrots. Zero fruit salad which was very disappointing as it was a brunch I sort of expected that. The cheese selection was nothing special just slices of cheddar and mozzarella which was a disappointment to my kids as in the past they had a much better selection of different kinds. The DIY waffle station was placed right next to the chef making omelet’s which created a big lime and no one knew who was there for what. Also the waffle table was backwards with whipped cream and fruit toppings at the beginning and the waffle maker last which make it so you had to cut through the line to get toppings after making your waffle. Seriously need to rethink that whole room there is a much better way it could be set up and it would flow much better! Bread bar was very plain. Dessert bar was two long tables but only a minimal selection and did not offer any gluten free options ( get with the times guys). When I asked the waitress for a gluten free option (fresh fruit even would have worked) she said she could check with the kitchen they MAY have a sorbet. Why is this not more advertised I shouldn’t have to ask.. made me wonder what else they had I didn’t know about. At the end of our meal no offer to bring grandma a piece of cake with a candle like I had seen other tables receiving even though waitress was well aware of her birthday even addressed it in the beginning. Overall the entire group was u happy with selection verses price. $44 dollars a person is reasonable I suppose for all you can eat but if they are goi g to increase prices should have kept with same quality as in the past. Will not be visiting again which sucks because previous visits were amazing and well worth the price!

The hotel staff are amazing, super friendly and always wanting to help make your stay more enjoyable. Denise, the front desk supervisor is phenomenal, super fun and great sense of humour. She absolutely made my stay more enjoyable.

The food is absolutely delicious, the restaurant staff is very attentive and very accommodating.

The spa was nice but unfortunately it was not something I would do again.

My husband and I wanted to get away for a relaxing evening. This was our first time at the hotel. The outside of the building and the grounds are beautiful. It should be noted that when they say they have “walking” trails, it’s one very short path and two open fields. You can hear the highway traffic noise the entire time you are outside.

Upon walking into our bottom floor room (125) I was beyond disappointed. The first thing that hit me was the overwhelming musty smell. I understand that this is an old building and that it had been very hot and humid but it was so bad that coming home I could smell my now musty clothes and suitcase. The receptionist was friendly and offered to give us a different room, which was smaller and the a/c hadn’t been turned on so it was HOT. I said we’d just deal with our current room. Then she offered to have a dehumidifier put in our room. Why this wasn’t done BEFORE guests walked in that room is beyond me. FYI - that dehumidifier filled up by 1am.
The room isn’t what I expected at all. There’s no old charm to it nor is it really updated. It’s stuck in this kind of motel 8 vibe. The room we got does NOT look like their pictures online, if it had I wouldn’t have chosen it!!!! Also, we were right across from housekeeping room where the door was open and being used often. I felt like we were stuck down with the cleaning and furnace room in the basement. Not a good, wow this is romantic feeling thats for sure. Note - do NOT stay on the bottom floor!

Pros- food was good. Staff was friendly enough. Outside of building is nice to look at.
