I'm honestly not sure where all the negative reviews came from. We had a great experience from check-in to check out.
Yes, it's a little outdated, but we had a working TV, fridge, and microwave. A comfortable bed and pillows. For the amount of time spent in the room, we were satisfied. The breakfast was also delicious with a variety.
The only complaint I have is not the hotels fault, but more the guests.
We were booked in a room right beside an exit...constantly hearing guests going in and out until the wee hours of the morning.
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Our room was large and clean. The pillows were good but but I still recommend bringing your own.

There was a fridge to store our food plus it had a small freezer to refreeze our ice packs. This freezer needed a defrost and someone left their frozen lasagna. Apparently, this is something that housekeeping should have caught.

The TV didn’t work in this room and staff were unable to fix it. We weren’t much for TV so it didn’t really matter. When I checked out in the morning, their maintenance person was there and had it on the repair list so at least they acknowledged and were going to address the issue.

There was a free hot breakfast in the morning, which was really quite good and we could take it back to our room.

First time staying at this property. Check in was fast and friendly. There was about 15 in our group. Some of the rooms were not cleaned or smelled off. One room had no shower curtain, and part of a used mouthwash left in it. Not the end of the world, but the cleaner should pay more attention to detail. Not bad, not great, overall.

The room wrecked of smoke and looked like it wasn’t cleaned. The furniture all had a layer of dust and the microwave was covered with old, cooked on food, gross! Security is in the hotel 24/7 honking their car horn outside at night - no sleeping at this hotel. Not worth staying here!

I have been coming to this Comfort Inn forever, maybe seven or eight stays each summer and fall. I met Jean Marc, the current manager in 2007 when he worked the front desk on the midnight shift. I told him he would be the manager one day and he is. :0). He is that good. Wanda, I have known almost as long. She is simply all around amazing at everything she does. Perfection. Jean Francois, Amie, Sam, and Randy are exceptionally courteous in their dealings with guests and leave nothing wanting. There are newer hotels in Kapuskasing but they do not make you feel as if you are at home as these guys do. The best part is being greeted by your first name upon arrival. Oh yes, the woman (sorry, name unknown), who makes the morning breakfast always makes it first rate.

I have danced on this earth for seventy three years and old enough to remember Customer Service the way it used to be. These guys are as good and would fit in nicely in those times.

Response from Jean Marc Genier, General Manager at Comfort Inn Kapuskasing

Thank you so much Roy. It makes me so happy to hear you're still coming and enjoying your self here. You where one of my first check inns. (Has it already been 13 years? Where does the time go?) Having a regular like you is special. We have plenty of guests that come and go but when we get to thew point where every one of staff can remember you , you know you've made an impact on us as well. I'm also glad that my staff is continuing to make sure your stay with us is special. Wanda, Randy, Amy, Jean-Francois, Sam and Suzanne all give their greetings and well wishes. We can't wait to see you again.

Very expensive $200.00 cdn incl tax. The moment I went into room, my eyes watered, sneezed and coughed. This is a smelly motel with hard beds. Carpet should be changed as it probably is quite contaminated. A hotel of this nature should definetly be well under 100.00.

Located right on the highway, so it was a great location for traveling. Needs to be updated. The carpets were absolutely disgusting very dirty. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, I will not even attempt to stay at this location again. Had to clean the tub drain as it kept backing up with water as I was showering.

Finally able to travel to see family in Quebec after long covid restrictions. Left Ontario noon time and travelled as far as kapuskasing first day and got a rm at the comfort inn. Check in was fairly quick and simple very friendly reception. Room was nice with most amenities available. Would have given much better rating if not for the way over priced rooms we paid for!

First hotel I’ve been in without carpets in the room. Love it! I was checked in by a young lady named Kelsey. She made the check in easy and refreshing. She suggested a place for dinner that was spot on. Room
Is comfortable and spacious. Central to the town and easy access in and out. Reasonable rates as well.

During a business trip to Northern Ontario I drove right into a really bad snow storm. Stopped at the Comfort Inn overnight. The staff was great. This hotel knows how to take care of winter travellers. They have extension cords, scappers, lock de-icer, anti-freeze and gloves for their guests to use all complimentary. And if you can't get your car started in the morning because of the cold they even have a battery booster on hand. The hotel is located right on the highway , good location, everything within walking distance. Guestrooms are very clean. 32'" LCD TV, fridge and micro etc...Plenty of selection for breakfast. Great stay. If you need to travel this winter make sure you stop at Comfort Inn in Kapuskasing. You will be very well taken care of.

Well i don't have enough info about you are you white, native etc...professional no regardless.I would call ask for the bosses name and number and proceed from there.Fax your resume to them ahead of time.Remember if you have any problems keep names and dates, if there is any discrimination involved you could take it a step further.

We were on the second floor too. We tries to change but it was ont possible. We arrivée pur luggages up and I do admit that it would be very difficult for my parents to do so with their knee problems. It also happened in Thunder Bay. But in Calgary, we were put in the basement and luckily upgraded by Levy. The price is much higher in Alberta forma hotel too. Dre. GSY
