Detailed Reviews
We recently had the good fortune to find a great place for a vacation getaway. We were searching the net for a place to try dog sledding, and at the same time find a place to relax. Woodland Echoes Resort in Magnetawan was perfect. They had a cottage with a private out door hot tub, which we enjoyed after a day of dog sledding. The food in the dining room was OUT of THIS world.. We have never had such good personal service and great food. We can not wait to return.

We were very privileged to have our wedding and honeymoon hosted by the great people at Woodland Echoes. They helped tremendously with the planning and overall 'production' of our special day, as well as providing a comfortable relaxing getaway. The accommodations and service are second to none, and the cuisine could not have been better.
They also handled our photography by request, and our pictures taken throughout the resort grounds turned out great. We highly recommend Woodland Echoes, and will certainly be returning ourselves.

My new wife and I had fun planning this for a month and keeping it a secret from everyone(except Ken, Carol and staff). From the moment we pulled into the yard to the check-in office, we could see just how amazing this place was. We went in to pay for the room and before we even got to our cottage, Ken had taken us around the grounds to pick the spot where our ceremony was to be. He made sure we let him know as soon as possible so they could get the area ready ie.grass cut and cleaned up. It was amazing all the way around and it was great that time seemed to pass slow so we could enjoy our stay and time together. I would highly recomend anyone looking to get away and elope to pick this resort. Thank you again so much Ken and Carol for a wonderful time that we will never forget.

We were disappointed with our stay, especially after reading the raving reviews. The hosts were indeed very friendly and hospitable, but after staying in several cottages over the past summers - we can honestly say that this resort is not at all worth 5 stars or the price we paid. The grounds were okay, however the resort is very aged (e.g. mini-golf, games in the 'community centre', our bbq). There is also only one firepit on the entire property. We didn't get a cabin with a jacuzzi - this may be why we deviate so much from those who gave the high reviews. Our cabin, located at one end of the small resort, was very old. You cannot call it a 'cottage'. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the appliances, sofas and sitting chairs were very old and not too clean (it didn't look 'cottage-like' at all). The TV was a 12 inch with one channel of good reception. The charge for our little non-shedding dog was $50 and, after seeing our 'camp', we asked ourselves why such a fee would be charged given what the place looked like. Overall, our experience was rated by all of us at 2 stars.

We planned to be married at Woodland Echoes during the long weekend of May 2012. We stayed in Cabin 2 which was equiped with coffee machine, fridge, toaster, etc.,everything we needed, including a hot tub on the deck. We had access to a boat for fishing and enjoyed canoeing as well. It was a beautiful place, peaceful, and so very relaxing that we decided to extended our trip a couple more days there. The food was good, and the staff was great and we enjoyed every minute. Again thanks to Ken, Carol, Melissa and the cook ( cant' remember his name :) you made not only our wedding a great day, but also our entire stay there was great.

My family of four, including my five year old son and three year old daughter had a great time at Woodland Echoes Resort in mid-June 2011. The resort was very clean, everything was in excellent working order, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Ken (the owner) bailed out our boat every day that it rained, and he also offered to take me to his doctor in Burk's Falls when I accidentally hooked my thumb. The resort was very kid-friendly and had a miniature golf course, a beach, a gameroom, and bicycles.
Woodland Echoes is located on the Magnetawan River with good access to nearby Ahmic Lake. The fishing was excellent and we caught lots of smallmouth bass (several in the 14-17 inch range), black crappies, and rock bass, with occasional walleye (pickeral), northern pike, and yellow perch. My son caught one 16 inch black crappie and we caught at least six others in the 10-13 inch range. We practiced catch-and-release, but could have had some great fish fries if we had chosen to do so. Although it rained much of the week, there was so much action that my kids preferred to go out in the boat in the rain to catch smallmouth bass rather than catch panfish, which were also plentiful off of the dock. We primarily fished in the river, including the pool below the tailwaters just below the dam for Cecebe Lake. Medium diving plugs such as Rapala Shad Raps and small spinners worked best.
The area in and around Magnetawan is beautiful and all of the residents that we met were very friendly. In addition to sight-seeing around Magnetawan, we also took a scenic boat cruise in Parry Sound. This area is a Natural World Heritage site and had numerous rocky islands with beautiful windswept pines. We also visited Killbear Provincial Park in the same area, and there were numerous other provincial parks in the region that we hope to visit next summer. The food at Woodland Echoes was excellent and there were also several other very good restaurants in the area.
Overall, we had a great time and hope to visit again next summer. We highly recommend Woodland Echoes Resort to anyone, including families with small children, who want to have a nice, relaxing vacation.

My husband and I "eloped" at Woodland Echoes, we had a private ceremony (just the 2 of us) and were extermely satisfied at how easy it was to have a lovely, private ceremony at such a beautiful location!!
The cabins are clean and cozy, the grounds are well kept and great for walking, the food in the dining room is wonderful - it's a great place to stay and have a wonderful relaxing vacation in Ontario.
We will hopefully be returning for our 1 year anniversary this fall!!

This weekend was our first time at Woodland Echoes. Roland and Ingrid were great! Very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to Kelly too! It was clean, peaceful and very comfortable. We would certainly recommend and hope to come back again as well as try and plan a family get together.

This has been our third year in a row at Woodland Echoes. Happy to see the many changes the new owners have made from new cabinets, counters, appliances and sea doos. Also after speaking with the new owners I can only wait to see their vision in the future. Still the same quiet relaxing get away our family enjoys but a more modern feel. Thanks for the great week.

"We went on a last minute type deal but if we were to book for just the two of us we'd probably take #6. We stayed in #5 which was a lovely little 2 bedroom cottage and #4 is really beautiful and would suit a small family perfectly."Read full review
