Honestly alot of things played a role in my rating for this place. I went from May 20 - May 22. It's not too far from Gravenhurst which is the nearest town where you can grab all that you need. quick and smooth drive from toronto consisting of the highway. the cabins were very clean and well maintained. basic and...

Just returned home from a weekend here for the cranberry festival. Beautiful location close to the water and short drive to Bala. We stayed in cabin 7. Unfortunately the cottage was filthy. The bathroom had hair everywhere . The curtains, window sills, baseboards were layered in dirt, cobwebs on the walls & ceilings. There was grease all over the stove. We...

We just spent the weekend at the cabins and found it to be a great experience. The owners are friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean and inviting. We hope to go back sometime. The view from the cabin was great and the lake was easy to canoe.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend (October) 2016 here in Cabin 1 with our two grown daughters. The cabin is rustic, no frills but absolutely adequate. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. There are enough dishes, cutlery and cookware for 4 plus a few extras like a corkscrew and grater. It had everything we needed, microwave, stove, fridge. We brought...

I can second everything said in previous review by sharonna12. We spend Thanksgiving long weekend at the Black Lake. Very small quarters, even though we rented 2 bedroom cabin for party of 6. Living room/kitchenette is tiny, we had to rearrange table/chairs to open pull out couch, which left us no room to navigate to the bathroom or open the...

The location is beautiful all of the cabins are right on the water. A little close to the highway but it didn't bother us. The cabins are a little old and tired but everything you need is there. The owners are absolutely lovely.

We traveled with 2 other families in last week of July 2016. I loved the Muskoka region, especially the town of Bala, but close to Gravenhurst and Huntsville, Port Carling. Here are pros & cons: Pros: Hosts Di & Bud were friendly, warm, helpful and available when needed. Location has access to farmers markets, entertainment, shopping, restaurants, antique markets, laundromat, coffee places...

I have just read two very grumpy reviews and wanted to offer my own opinion, based on our experience. Yes, you do have to walk on rocks and tree roots here and there--it's on the Laurentian Shield and there are indeed trees growing around the cabins, which one would think one might understand are anchored in the ground by roots....

We just finished out stay at Black Lake for the Victoria Day weekend. The resort and cabins were everything we had hoped. The cabins are rustic and quaint with everything you could need. The view of the lake was awesome. We fished, went for a boat ride and had campfires every night outside our cabin overlooking the lake. You are...

We stayed for the Canada Day long week end, that just wasn't enough time to enjoy the beauty of the Black Lake Cabins. We fell in love with Cabin # 8. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the people were very friendly!
