Well, if you are use to chic hotels it can be a bit dismaying to see this old motel and I was. Specially after entering the office which was not reassuring! But the lady who checked me in was very nice. I noticed lot’s of road workers were staying here too. The room was clean and surprising. Everything was spic and span ( I think a comment in another review was worried about the floor not having been swept, but I think it is more that the floor covering is a bit rough) There is a little kitchen that has all the basics and I actually had two small refrigerators. They have thoughtfully organized the electricity so that you have easy access to a lot of room to plug in all your chargers! I was worried about the sound..the guy next door was watching tv ( his curtain was open so I saw this) . Actually Inheard absolutely nothing..which is not the case in the higher class hotel I am in now...could hear the man in the other room snoring! So, I consider this motel surprisingly good!…
I stayed here for over a month and was quite happy. Comfortable beds, Very clean rooms. Kitchenettes were nice. It was a quiet stay with reasonable prices. Location was right along the TransCanada highway
Stopped in for one night on our way back home from BC. Nice lady in the office. Room was great. Although I am certain the floor had not been swept from the last guests. It was very gritty. Motel is dated for the most part very clean. The sheets were very fresh and we slept well. We made use of the BBQ which was awesome. Very nice spot along the Trans Canada Highway. We would go back.
My husband and I were on a motorcycle trip around Lake Superior, we needed an overnight stop, and the Birchville is the motel we chose. What a great stop! The owner greeted us with a big smile and warm welcome when we arrived. She had lovely flowers in pots scattered along the sidewalk/front of the rooms. It was just a nice welcoming sight to see. We were given an older towel so my husband could wipe down the motorcycle in the morning and said, if you need more let her know and she would be more than happy to provide them. She also told us of different areas we could drive to to enjoy the beautiful scenery around Nipigon. The room was very clean. We needed a place and it was quiet. We never heard the highway- even though the highway was close by. There was some seating in front of the room which we sat and enjoyed. There was more seating in the front yard if you wanted more people to sit and visit away from the rooms. Nipigon is a quiet little 'town' with many nice areas to see. We enjoyed the various sites around the area. Sundays are quiet, but great if you want to do outdoor activities. The Birchville was a great stop that helped us get to various areas quickly and we were treated like close friends. Great stay for us.…
While motorcycling across the country, I got caught in a rainstorm just outside of Thunder Bay and continued on until I found this Motel. Check-in was quick and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. The room was great, exactly what I needed. Very clean, and the bed was comfortable. She even gave me a towel for my motorcycle to clean it in the morning. Wow!! What great service and attention to detail and needs that a standard hotel would not be able to accommodate. And to make it even better my room had a small lean-to under which I could park my bike and unpack all my gear without having to stand in the rain.
