My Son and I were travelling across Canada we had intended on stopping in Thunderbay but were to late booking - we were very happy to find this quaint little motel an hour down the road - it was a late check in - the gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming despite the late hour. The contributor that...

We were travelling late and this was the only place with rooms left. The room was clean if a little bit worn and included a microwave and fridge, but no A/C, but did have a fan that worked well. The big killer for us though, was that even though the rooms were no smoking it still smelled like smoke. If it...

Overall the room was clean. I did not see any bugs in the room. The room it self was dated. The bed is hard which is fine but hurt my back after a little while. The bathroom is tiny but functioning. It took a little while for the hot water to work in the shower and the water pressure was...

We stayed one night at Northland. While the beds were comfortable, the place was pricey for what you get. Our room definitely needed a good cleaning including removing dead bugs from walls and windows and there was no a/c available. I would check elsewhere first, but in a pinch it's ok. Cons-could be cleaner Pros-comfortable beds and reno'd bathroom.

This motel was clean but older with small amount of upgrades. Very basic. No ice machine or vending machines and you had to drive to get anything. The bed was bare bones and not comfortable. No hair dryer or other amenities. It did have soap and a coffee pot. Stayed there because it was recommended and would stay again if...

Bugs, no air conditioning, filthy and no hot water. This place is disgusting. Skip Nipigon if at all possible and get to Wawa. The motels there take pride in what they do. Nipigon is like something out of the deliverance movie.

A good location for a stop on our long drive east, the Northland was just what we needed. Decent sized room, new linens and towels and fresh paint brightened up the place. Although beside the highway, the rooms face the town not the road, so traffic noise is less than you would expect.

The motel is clean and the owner Bob is helpful. There is no food within walking distance but some of the rooms have kitchenettes. Ask for a room that has a door that faces off the highway - less notice. I would recommend this motel. It is dog friendly

Dear Daphne C, Thank you for your comments. There is a Tim Hortons and a Husky Restaurant just up the road. You could also drive into town where there are some nice places to eat. As you mentioned, we do have some rooms with fully equipped kitchenettes and there is a grocery store in town where you can buy everything...

I do not know where the recent review folks stayed, but it was not in my room. I think this place stays alive because there are highway workers who need to stay somewhere. This motel is more like a housekeeping cottage than a motel. Other than your food it has everything you need for your entire stay. We have never found another motel with so much to offer at very reasonable prices. Given a senior discount made this even better. I look forward to our next stay here.
