Clapped out, worn out and office stank of stale takeaways. Rooms clean, but no bathroom plugs nor any shampoo. And, owner can't be bothered to keep the parking lot snowplowed in Winter.

And, at over $100, it is pricey for what it is.

HOWEVER, whereas most seem to require phoning a number on the front door, she just answered the door with a ring of the bell, a blessing for those without a mobile phone, and booked me even though I arrived at 5am in the morning. And at minus 20 degrees, that is a blessing. Even gave me extra tie to book out as I had arrived so late!

Stayed in Room 14.

The room was clean, the beds were freshened up. The motel isn't much to look at from the outside, so you might not consider it. Please give it a chance! The room had a decent sized fridge, a microwave, A/C. IT most of what you need, no frills. Close to a Tims if that's your thing. Also close to a gas station and poular truck stop. This motel charged us @180.00 including the 20.00 pet fee.

Stayed in many motels on our week long vacation across Ontario and this was by far the best motel The rooms are very clean and well appointed. Real coffee mugs for coffee and Bed and Bath scented soap in the bathroom. Flowers outside every room Pleasant and friendly owner. We were concerned it would be noisy from the truck stop but it was quiet.

I stayed at this hotel while travelling across Canada in 2010 and 2012 and the rooms very very old and outdated, but there was nothing really wrong with my rooms. I’m currently working near Nipigon with a crew of 9 and we have 9 rooms rented. All 9 of the rooms have been renovated and all but 1 of the washrooms have been renovated (Room 1 Washroom). The rooms and bedding were very clean and the beds are comfortable. Most of the crew have rooms with 1 bed in them and they have been updated with memory foam mattresses and even have some theme rooms from room 5 to 9 (Boats etc). The wifi works amazing also. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see all the work they put into the hotel (Rooms 1 to 9 at least - haven’t seen the rest). My crew is very happy and says this motel is nicer than a chain hotel we just stayed at in Kenora. Also the gentleman that I believe was the owner and is now part owner does very nice wood carvings that are for sale. He lives behind the hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel and would ignore older comments about it as they don’t apply anymore.

Had a wonderful stay here! Room looks to be recently renovated; it's very cozy. The bed was super comfy. It's the most comfortable bed I've found in any of the motels I've stayed at and beats some hotels as well. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. If I have to return to Nipigon, I'll be calling here first to see if they have any vacancy!

Love the vibe of this family owned business. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot showers and pet friendly. The staff were very friendly and knew my name as I entered the office. 10/10 very good experience. Bonus points for being so close to Tim hortons!

If you're alone (or can sleep two in a double bed) ask for number 5. It's worn out, there are stains on the curtains, and the chair is ripped... but it's totally cowboy themed. Awe. Some. Somebody--decades ago I assume--took great care to outfit this room and I am so glad they didn't update it. Cowboy-western stuff in every detail. SO FUN.

Wifi didn't work at first, but was fixed. Clean bathroom (mildewed ceiling tho), clean towels, hot water, heating and air conditioning, big flat screen TV (only motel I've had with HBO), microwave, coffee maker, fridge. No shampoo.

And a friendly dog--he hung out with me while I unpacked my car.

My friend and I stayed here 4 nights while on an ice climbing trip to nearby Orient Bay. Have to agree with several other commenters. The hotel is old and shows it, but seemed to be neat and well kept. Staff were not always easy to find, but very helpful and friendly when we did need something. Good WiFi, two queen-size beds in good shape (I slept well anyway), a frig and microwave, a small table and chairs. Bathroom in our room was small, but worked fine (no huge lag to get hot water, which was noted by someone else). Towels were not the newest, but clean and lots of them. Our room stayed warm in a period when the lows dropped to -2F. And you can throw a rock and hit the nearby Tim Hortons, so not bad location.

This isn't a destination hotel with huge amenities. It's a place to sleep when you're spending your days doing other things, run by people who have other jobs as well. If you like the outdoors there's lots to do around Nipigon, and the Pinecrest is a good place to return to in the evening.

We recently booked this motel through Expedia. This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in past years. They even didn't clean the room or change sheet. Bad smell in the room, dirty sheet with hairs, bloody spot and even dirty sock on it, bugs in the corner of the room, terrible services.
Will never stay this motel again!!!

i slept in the Cowboy room too - #5 !

Room was clean, small and cosy. It had free wifi and a big flatscreen TV and the bathroom was fine.

for a one night stop in Nipigon, it did just the job and it was good value for money.
