We were traveling from Southern Ontario to Manitoba, done this trip many times before and have never had to book a room in the fall. We always plan our stay in Wawa, ON but everything was booked solid by 5pm. Apparently with miners, construction and some tourism there was not a motel to be found. We ended up driving till 10pm, had being making calls from my cell and found Travelers Motel on the hwy in Nipigon. KC held the room and said he stays on site so it was not a issue arriving later. He came out to the driveway and helped carry in our cases, quick check in, so mega helpful and friendly, could not say enough about this man. Motel looks a bit tired but everything was super clean. There was a coffee maker, microwave, table and chairs and i think a hot plate. He did tell us in advance there would be nothing open for food so eat before arriving. We were able to reheat or leftovers. Bed had pristine white clean sheets, while no frills we were so appreciate of a clean quite motel to sleep, thanks KC for everything. Check was super easy, leave your key at the desk upon leaving. We departed as easy as we checked in.

Don’t expect I would return
Liked: Booked here due to good reviews with respect to super clean. While I commend KC for the cleanliness of bathroom fixtures, comfortable bed, and his helpful friendly welcome, duly noted and appreciated, unsure I would return.

Disliked · Sadly the very compact room leaves a lot to be desired in terms of furnishings, Covid smart items and need of paint job and many touch ups. The mismatched older furnishings, paper towel wrapped around group utensils to keep dust off, unwrapped older plastic cup on bathroom sink for multi person use?, pump hand soap to be used by many, thermostats preset and unable to change (although room was warm with little mini mini electric fireplace (also preset button duct taped), button off bathroom heater and off (which I turned in as was cold in there and only -2 outside). Curtains double layer on window with shower curtain hooks holding up on old rod. Clear wide tape holding mismatched ceiling tiles in place, some light switches taped off, etc. Multiple “tape” fixes in room. Feel it wouldn’t take much to update / replace the few furnishings required. Room very small so shouldn’t take a lot to improve. Was disappointed with age of furnishings and rudimentary / primitive fixes. Wasn’t what expected.

While we were shown the room upon arrival....arrived too late to get refund or find another location.

Clean yet dated small room. The beds were comfortable, and the linen clean. The bathroom was clean as well. Working mini fridge x2, kettle, coffee maker microwave , tv and wifi. We had planned on staying in Thunder Bay. However, the hotels were full due to the evacuees from the fire. This motel worked for us. The owner was pleasant and helpful.

Let me just say, researched a bunch of motels in Nipigon and this one had the best reviews (especially about the host KC).KC came out to the parking lot to greet us, he was friendly, pleasant and helpful host.
Quick check-in and got the last room available with a Queen bed. He even brought a single matteress to our room free of charge for our son to sleep on (that is why I give 5 stars). Thanks KC.We were coming from Sleeping Giant PP and we just needed a clean, quiet olace to rest our heads.

Overall, motel has a rustic look.Inside, room was clean, washroom clean, a bit dated, but who cares. Although you can only use one appliance at a time, that didn't bother us. There was a microwave, kettle, coffee machine with complimentary coffee, fridge etc.
Tv had good selection of shows, working wifi and the balcony is connected to all suites in the back.

Yes the motel is no-frills and old skool but it is a motel with character and top-notch service and clean room (luxury resort).

All in all, in Covid times, cleanliness is utmost importance. Satisfied customers.

In the sea of endless motels, this place was a real jewel. I was in room #7. Small, cozy quaint room that was impeccably clean. Fresh linens, fridge with large freezer, microwave, coffee maker, everything a traveller needs when you're 'just passing through'.. Retro motel with a modern feel. You could clearly see that the room was recently renovated which makes this motel even more appealing. Owner was friendly and walked me to my room.. On leaving, he even walked me to my car to safely see me off.. just like your dad would do.. lol.. He also gave my dog a little beef rawhide to chew on.. It's these nice touches that make ALL the difference! I would highly recommend. Lovely motel with lovely owner.. Thank u..

KC was a great host, the exterior does not do it justice! The place was very nice once inside. Was a great stop to get more distance than Thunder Bay. Free wifi, fridge, microwave, coffee and pet friendly were all an added bonus!

We spent one night in this dump of a hotel. We read a few reviews and it didn't appear to be too bad. Big mistake. Not only did the owner, K.C. come into our room and check us in, he stayed and uncomfortably long time and during Covid. If we had an opportunity to look at the room before we checked in we would not have stayed. Very rough around the edges. The old upholstered chair smelt strongly of must. The microwave had left over food in it. The window air conditioner had at least and 8 inch gap that was covered with a thin piece of Styrofoam and ducked taped in place. We could feel the cold coming through. Probably the worst was seeing partially used shampoo and conditioner bottles in the bathtub/shower. Why? We could not leave quickly enough. We both worried that we might have picked something up there. Awful experience.

This motel was much more than I expected. Nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. We stayed in room H on the second floor so that we could have 2 queen size beds. The beds and linen were both very comfortable. The efficiency unit was well equipped with dishes and appliances. We would definitely recommend this modest motel. The staff/owners were very nice. They even helped us carry our bags out to our vehicle when we were leaving. Excellent service.

My husband, our one year-old and our dog spent the night here on our trip back to Saskatoon from visiting my family in Toronto.

Upon arrival, I went to check in and the young gentleman who came to assist me entered with a waft of pot smoke. He was polite and pleasant, but it's also unprofessional, if it was him. My husband and I both smelled strong odors when we took turns taking our dog out. The multiple air fresheners in the lobby and lining the halls didn't do their job to cover the odor, even through our masks.

We entered our room, it was clean and cozy, but both windows were open and it was quite chilly. The AC unit in one of two windows allowed a draft in the room all night. We put towels and my suitcase against the window to attempt to keep some of the cold air out. It was quite cold for our one year-old and my husband and I both woke up with sore throats. We couldn't find any controls to turn on the electric floorboard heating, but we weren't sure we wanted to since the heater was six inches from the bed.

In the morning I went to make coffee and filled up the reservoir - it overfilled immediately and water spilled everywhere since there was water left in it from a guest before. There were no packages of coffee, so the guest before probably did the same thing I did - start to fill it and then leave the water when they realized there wasn't any coffee. The entrance area (with the coffee set-up, microwave, fridge and closet) is very dark. You couldn't operate the microwave and coffee maker at the same time and the electrical work made me a bit nervous.

The bed was clean and comfortable and you can tell the staff are trying to make it cute with the décor, but it seems to miss the mark. The glow-in-the-dark star stickers on the wall were kind of strange and looks like they were left by the previous guest's kid. The hallway is dark with one standing lamp trying to illuminate the whole area.

There was a buzzing all night. At first I thought it was a dying fly, but then we started to think maybe it was the floorboard heating struggling to turn on. The bathroom door didn't close, so our adventurous one year-old kept making his way in to try to play in the toilet. The faucet in the bathroom dripped, dripped, dripped, dripped, dripped all night long. I was also a bit fearful that the hanging-on-for-dear-life ceiling tiles would fall on us as we slept.

The reviews had us hopeful and while we are grateful for a clean room, winter is coming so staff should ensure windows are closed upon guest arrival and that the heat is operational. And the headache-inducing, cheap air fresheners have got to go! Fixes like the ceiling tiles and the bathroom door will go miles. Instead of putting up autumn décor, spend the money on brightening up the sketchy hallway.

We stayed for a night and found that although the building is older, the room was clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. We took a room with a kitchette. The room was spacious, and had a big tv, full fridge, hotplate, coffee maker, toaster and plenty of dishes, cutlery, cups etc. along with a sink. The bathroom was modernized, but has limited shelf space. There is a nice wrap around wooden verandah on the second level of the building with chairs. It wasn't particularly pretty, just plain wood, but it was pleasant to sit outside in the evening. The AC is in-window, so a bit noisy. There was also a floor fan, which was quiet and effective. Wifi was rather slow. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Good location right on the highway, across the street from a Husky Travel Centre and restaurant. A Tim's is also not too far away.
