Full disclosure I did not stay here this review is based on communication. I was very excited to stay here and explore Yellowknife for a couple days on my way back home to Ontario. Upon finding out the my job had been moved up and I would no longer be needing the booking. I understood that my booking was non refundable, but still wanted to give the property a call and discuss canceling my booking. I sent them an email (from an emailed they had initially contacted me at) a month in advance and followed up once a week until the week of my booking. I called and spoke with a house keeper who informed me Jenny was out and took my number but would never let me know when she was back( tried calling several times well in advance) . I left a message with contact information as well but to no avail. I got hit with a no show notice today, and am very frustrated as I tried very hard to cancel my booking by giving a substantial amount of notice via multiple communication avenues. Clearly this business does not value its clientele, and I would recommend staying elsewhere

From first impressions this place seems lovely. Until you meet the obvious crack head boyfriend of the owner. During my stay there I was accused of stealing his records. Also was tricked into paying more for a room that clearly was not worth it. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to stay I this establishment. No door locks of any kind and they have several animals in the house. By my count...4 dogs and 6 cats, none of which were groomed recently. No stove. No hot water. And creepy religious artifacts everywhere. 100% avoid. You'll be more comfortable sleeping in your car.

The communication between the owner and myself prior to arriving was a good indicator of how things were going to be - I should have trusted my instincts. When a property doesn't have its own website or even photos up on other sites, it's never a good sign. Owner was often confused on the phone (mixing up dates, names, claiming I had never sent emails when I did) and we were never quite sure we would have a room until we arrived (she never even took a deposit or payment info prior to us arriving). The place itself was a little worn - did not look like guests stayed here regularly. Carpeting was stained. We were not provided a key to the front door and the owners insisted that the door needn't be locked as Orangeville was "a safe town." That was the last straw.
We ended up staying elsewhere. We just didn't feel safe or comfortable with the whole situation.
